In a separate post, delart has found the left rear suspension strut has a torn gaiter, so possibly that strut may have a leak if dirt has damaged the seals.

Welcome to the forum. Post 18 is the Citroen procedure for checking the suspension height with a few extra words to help explain it. mlkey has not been on the forum since July 2012 so probably no longer has an interest in Citroen cars.

Welcome to the forum. A quick look on the eurocarparts site shows up to 3 different calipers for your van and having different piston diameters depending on the van weight. So it may be the ones supplied are different to the ones already installed but to check the pistons you need to remove the pads.

Fuel Consumption Figures-2010 C5 (160) Tourer
paul.h replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
The range given is based on the instantaneous mpg being achieved so will vary quite a bit depending on how you are driving. If you dropped your motorway speed down to 65-70 mph you will probably get up to another 5 mpg but your 300 miles would have taken maybe 30 minutes longer (as well as being legal). I have found on our different cars the mpg figures are not too far out. If you reset the trip computer at the start of your trip you would see the effect of the different driving styles - the motorway may not have been too good due to the high speed, cross country may have been good if not too many hills and slowing/speeding up required, and the general I guess is round town which would be a low mpg. -
Welcome to the forum. Have you done a diagnostic check with a Lexia that has said the BSM is at fault and if so what fault codes did you get ? What are the symptoms of not starting - does the engine turn over , have you tried the spare key in case it is an immobliser fault, can you hear the fuel pump in the tank, did the car run normally last time it was used, is it a petrol or diesel ?

The Haynes manual covers all of the C5 2001 to 2008 but does not include the 2.2 hdi engines. So it is worth having. To cover the 2.2 hdi engines you would need to get the Citroen service box which is available on ebay as 3 dvds. For the odd thing on the engine you can ask on here. There is also the French RTA manual which covers the 2001 to 2004 2.2 hdi 136 hp and is available from Amazon. It is similar to a Haynes manual but is in French. http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/2726865410/sr=8-2-fkmr0/qid=1409520621/ref=olp_product_details?ie=UTF8&me=&qid=1409520621&sr=8-2-fkmr0 citroencarparts.net will post items but to get the right part you need to use the Citroen part no. which can be gained from the parts diagrams on service.citroen - you need to register as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club. Then use your VIN (VIS) to get your car. http://www.citroencarparts.net/ http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres The LDS level should be just at the bottom of the tank filler neck filter with the suspension on the low setting.

The gaiter can be bought separately plus you will also need a new wire clip that goes at the top of the gaiter. If the R clip is rusted in, you may need a new one. Also some LDS fluid will be needed since the rear suspension needs to be depressurised. The procedure to replace the gaiter is in the Haynes manual. 2 years ago, a gaiter was £7.30, the wire clip £9.50, the R clip £1.40 and you can get LDS fluid for about £11 a litre.

Welcome to the forum. You have not said which year C5 you have, but usually using the key in the door lock to open the car may set off the alarm but it will go off when the key is used in the ignition lock/switch and the engine is started. If the fob battery is starting to need replacing, you may find it needs to be held nearer the car for the remote to unlock the doors. On our 2003 C3, there would be occasions when the remote would not work and this was probably caused by radio interference from such as a mobile phone, a mobile phone mast, an amatuer radio aerial mast, portable debit/credit card readers, domestic alarms - to list a few of the things that are known to do this and it is mentioned in the handbook for our 2007 C5. After the car was umlocked using the key and started and moved to a different location or left until later, it would behave normally. In your handbook it will tell you how to replace the key fob battery and if needed, how to re-initialise the fob. In our C5 handbook it says this is done by switching on the ignition and immediately pressing the fob lock button until it operates the action required which may take ten seconds. Except when re-initialising, the remote can not function while the key is in the ignition. I have deleted your similar post in the C5 section to keep all replies together.

Welcome to the form. You need to tell us which model of C4 you have inc manual or auto gearbox and which engine. Or if you provide your vin it can be looked up on the Citroen service site http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres (you can also do this by registering as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club, then look at the parts diagrams as a free service, use or VIN (VIS) top left to select your car, then on the left side click on Characteristics and it will give the details of your car). In the Haynes manual for the manual gearbox cars it has - petrol engines 1.4 litre has 5 forward gears, 1.6 litre has 4 or 5 forward gears - diesel engines 1.6 litre has 4 or 5 and the 2.0 litre has 6 forward gears. For automatics it says it can be 4 or 6 forward gears. We had a 2008 1.6 hdi 110 hp vtr+ and that had 5 forward manual gears plus reverse.

Depending on what type of headlights are fitted, a non working washer could be a fail. This is from the MOT testers manual: 2. Where HID or LED dipped beam headlamps are fitted, switch on the headlamps and check the operation of any headlamp levelling and cleaning devices fitted. Reason for rejection. 2. A headlamp levelling or cleaning device inoperative or otherwise obviously defective.

If the vac has not been emptied I would be sorting through its contents. If you go to Citroen, see how much 2 keys will be so you then have a useable spare and the programming cost will be spread across the 2 keys. They will also likely need your car so it can be programmed - so there is also the problem of getting it to them without a working key. Some companies that can copy keys may need a working one to copy the code across, so without the code card your options look to be limited. If you ask Citroen though, they should provide the key code at minimal cost. To get the new keys may take some time so you could be without the car for a bit.
-
If you can not find it, you will need to use the spare key and then order another from Citroen. Should just be able to order a new key with it in but probably no need to have the key programmed to your car to save labour charge and just take out the chip for your old key (or put the circuit board which does the central locking from the old key in to the new one).

The RAC appear to have set up a couple of things to help if you have a puncture and no spare, recognising about 50% of new cars do not have a spare to reduce their emissions. I would think though only one puncture would use up more than the emissions saved and there are the emissions in making and disposing of the aerosol kits. The vans carry a universal spare which is fitted and then you go to a tyre dealer to have your wheel/tyre repaired and leave the RAC wheel at the tyre dealer. They have also set up a mobile tyre fitting service. The attached says they expect about 120000 breakdowns without a spare a year and last year attended nearly 360000 tyre puncture breakdowns. http://www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/2014/4/4/rac-rolls-out-mobile-tyre-fitting-service-to-meet-increase-in-puncture-no-spare-breakdowns/50095/

The key fob has 2 parts to it. One locks/unlocks the doors and the alarm and the other is a chip for the immobiliser which when the key is in the ignition lock is detected by the transponder aerial around the lock so the immobiliser can be deactivated to allow the car to start. The transponder aerial part no. may be 6160C1 or 6160F0 and to check you need to use your VIN at the Citroen dealer. Costs about £5 new from Citroen (do not buy a used one from ebay since they seem to be asking about £25). Fitting time is about 20 minutes so will not be difficult.

With the standard jack that has the handle fastened to it, I have found it is easy for the handle to swing against the car sills and cause paint damage. Getting fed up with this, I have used some 13mm heat shrink sleeving from Maplins which was pushed over the handle and heated over the cooker hob so the bare metal is covered. I prefer the jack type that comes with the mark 1 and 2 C5 where the handle is separate to the jack. http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/13mm-heat-shrinkable-sleeving-1m-yr18u A look at the jack part nos. shows that all the different models mostly use different jacks. The C5 mark 1 and 2 and 3 all have different ones and on the mark 3 this depends on rpo and whether steel or hydractive suspension. The C3 and C4 have different part nos. even though they look similar but later mark 3 C5s on steel springs have the same jack as the new C3. The jacks all cost about £25 plus for the hydractive C5s about £10 for the brace and extension based on prices from the citroencarparts site. You would think Citroen could save a bit by all using the same jack. The box that the jack goes in to can differ on models but some are shared and the C5 expanded plastic box costs a lot less than the hard plastic ones so overall the jack kit for the cars are all similar.

With the arm raised off the glass, if you hold the arm and the clip on the blade, it should pull off the arm.

Loss Of Acceleration, Sludge In Fuel Drain
paul.h replied to son-of-seaton's topic in Petrol Diesel & LPG Injection
By injector light do you mean the yellow engine management light that looks a bit like the side view of an engine ? If so then there should be a fault code stored which will indicate what is wrong. Cheap code readers though may not work on your car due to it being pre 2004 when diesel cars had to be EOBD compliant. -
Welcome to the forum. I would use a Citroen dealer to get the right clips using your car VIN. They cost next to nothing. Also whilst there get a price for the undertray and its part no. so if too much you can try a used one from such as ebay. If you do not wish to use your dealer, you can see the parts diagrams as a free service if you register on the service.citroen site as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club and then use your VIN (VIS) top left to get your car http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres

Loss Of Acceleration, Sludge In Fuel Drain
paul.h replied to son-of-seaton's topic in Petrol Diesel & LPG Injection
Welcome to the forum. A blocked fuel filter will cause poor performance but if the fuel tank is full of sludge then maybe this should be cleaned out as well as a new filter. The filler cap needs to be checked that it has not let water in which could result in jelly forming in the tank. -
I think you will find the C4 in the photo will have reverse sensors as standard, ours has.
-
It sounds as if the immobiliser is preventing the car starting and why the fuel is not being pumped. A search on C4 anti theft suggests it could be a key problem or some other part of the immobiliser that is not being recognised and you are likely to need a Citroen dealer to sort it. The immobiliser consists of the key fob, the aerial transponder which is the plastic bit around the ignition lock and detects the chip in the key fob, the bsi fusebox, the ecu - of these the aerial is only a few pounds but without the diagnostic check it is not possible to easily know what is wrong.
-
Something to be aware of if the gps records your speed, if you have an insurance claim you need to ensure you were not exceeding the speed limit. This may have been a comment in a Car Mechanics mag when they said they were going to do a feature on dash cams but so far this has not happened.
-
I do not know how far you have got with this but if the ecu is replaced then the bsi fusebox may not need replacing - there is a C3 topic where the bsi was replaced but there is no mention of the ecu so you could ask homerv6 if this was needed http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/21672-u0028-vehicle-comm-bus-a/ . Hence if the ecu is replaced, then possibly you may only need the key fobs, radio and alarm from the other car but also I would note its VIN and then maybe the fuel injectors programming into the ecu. A search on P1621 (Control Module Long Term Memory Performance/ Immobilizer Code Words Do Not Match) did not come up with anything and seem to be given with other faults but did not seem to prevent a car working. Your description appears to show the car is immobilised so possibly you could try the spare key in case it is an immobiliser fault. I would also contact your Citroen dealer and such as BBA Reman and see what they suggest but a check with a Citroen diagnostic tool (Lexia) may help, unless that has already been done. Was the fault code cleared by the electrician and if so did it come back again ? Sometimes disconnecting/reconnecting a battery can help with odd electrical problems but you say the battery has been replaced so if the problems started before this then it may not help. The following is copied from the C3 Common Problems pinned post: 20. Odd electrical problems caused by wrong battery disconnection procedure. If you need to disconnect the battery and not do a BSI reset procedure, I have found the following has not given me any problems on a 2004 and 2007 C5 and a 2003 C3: - remove the ignition key from the car - open the bonnet - wait a few minutes for the BSI to shut down - disconnect the battery negative terminal When reconnecting - ignition key out of the car - reconnect the battery - wait a few minutes - insert the key in the ignition and wait a minute - turn the key to the first position and wait a minute - turn the key so the dash lights come on and wait a minute - start the engine - take the windows down and up to reset the anti pinch - reset the clock (and radio on the C3).

Welcome to the forum. Any help you can give will be appreciated. On the C5, if you need to jack it up, the suspension should be raised to max height first to avoid any possible suspension problems and if you intend to go under it, axle stands should be used since if a height sensor on an anti roll bar is knocked the suspension can quickly drop to a few inches above the ground.
