Mark 3 Tourer, Rear Offside Door Won't Stay Open.
paul.h replied to Shane Peet's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
Do you mean the door locks itself or if the door is open it will close itself, even if you physically hold it open by the handle ? -
Had a look under a Berlingo car and also commercial vehicle in the service box and for the M59 it gives a lower boost pressure than this for the DV6DM engine as follows but this is listed against the 92 bhp engine and there are no values for the 75 bhp engine: Engine speed 2500 rpm, boost pressure 0.2 bar Engine speed 4000 rpm, boost pressure 0.6 bar However, under the M9 Berlingo for the 75 bhp engine it gives Engine speed 2500 rpm, boost pressure 0.2 bar Engine speed 4000 rpm, boost pressure 0.7 bar. So it looks as if you should be getting up to about 0.7 bar boost.

Welcome to th eforum. The parts diagrams show at the engine side of the battery, low down there is a clip held by a nut that holds the battery in place. Remove the nut and clip and the battery should be able to be removed. Do not be too quick to disconnect the battery though since you need to give the bsi time to shut down or you may get some odd electrical problems - in the C5 Technical section there is a procedure you can follow in the pinned Common Problems topic.

What year is the van (or which model Berlingo is it M59 or B9), and what power is the engine 75 or 90 or 92 bhp and does it have an exhaust particle filter ? This is for a C4 to 2010 model 1.6 hdi so 90 or 110 bhp but I could not find anything for a Berlingo in the Citroen service box procedures: DIESEL TURBO DV6TED4 FAP OR DIESEL TURBO DV6TED4 WITHOUT FAP OR DV6ATED4 TURBO DIESEL 1. PreparationESSENTIAL : Observe the following checking conditions : Engine at operating temperature. Vehicle in working order. Engine full load.Connect the diagnostic equipment to the vehicle’s diagnostic socket : Measure the parameters.2. Method of operationStart the engine.Engage the 1st gear ratio, and start the vehicle.Engage the gears up to 3rd gear.Decelerate to an engine speed of 1000 rpm.Check the pressure (1500 rpm) : 0.6 ± 0.05 bar.Accelerate hard : (change from 4th gear to 3rd gear).Check the pressure (between 2500 and 3500 rpm) : 0.9 ± 0.05 bar.

Maybe there is a low compression on one of the cylinders or the starter is not turning over quickly (you could check the battery voltage, should be about 12.5 to 12.7 volts before running the engine). However, I suspect you will be happy to live with the problem for now and not throw any money at it - good job you did not arrange for the engine replacing. If there is dirt in the fuel tank you may want to have another go cleaning the fuel filter in the future.

I do not know about the vans but Citroen cars do not seem to rust.

The Haynes manual shows the glass is held at the bottom by plastic clips so probably these have broken and need replacing. The cable that moves the glass up and down may also need replacing. To get to it the door card needs removing. Repair kits are on ebay such as this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/for-Citroen-Xsara-Picasso-1999-2004-Front-Right-Window-Regulator-Repair-Kit-/231279325338?hash=item35d952709a:g:HccAAOSwAuZX16TH This may show you what needs to be done but I have not watched it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AEuqCmla9zY

You will need to have the tracking set up at a garage after fitting the replacement rack. If this is expensive at a decent place then it may not be that much more to pay for it all doing so something to check before starting the job. Also a garage will give a guarantee for the work and parts.

Thanks for getting back to us, high much was the part ?

There is some info here which may help http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/22147-c5-2008-rack-leak-and-replacement/?do=findComment&comment=81594 Some info on which steering fluid you will need http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/22834-which-fluid-c5-x7-power-steering/ Also grease the input shaft to stop it rusting.

Headlights Dimming/flickering Whilst Driving
paul.h replied to MichaelDavis's topic in C5 - Technical
I would also check the battery, it may not have enough capacity left to run all the electrics and the suspension pump without the voltage dropping a bit. Maybe when it is doing it also have a look at the battery gauge on the dash to see if it drops a bit. I have found after about 7 years most batteries are due for replacing. -
If you have a voltmeter you can check the battery voltage before starting and then with the engine running. You can also look at the voltage gauge on the dash. Before starting it should be about 12.5 volts and once running about 14.2 volts. I do not know if the battery light would flicker - this used to indicate a low voltage. Possibly on the brake pad warning there was a bit of moisture on one of the front pads so the wear sensor was effectively connected to earth and gave the warning. When you replaced the pads did you fit the new wear sensor wires that come with the pads (at least they do with Citroen ones) and made sure the lower wire would not touch the disc and wear the insulation off ? You could try disconnecting the sensor wires at the strut end and see if the warning stops. You could also check the resistance in the wires between an earth and the strut end connection if you have a meter.

As well as the egr valve, its pipework may be blocked and need cleaning out but your mechanic will know this.

Headlights Dimming/flickering Whilst Driving
paul.h replied to MichaelDavis's topic in C5 - Technical
Sounds normal, I do not really notice the lights on our C5 going dim except sometimes when parking it on the drive and the lights are shining on a wall. -
Have you checked your pressure gauge for accuracy ?
-
Do the other 2 brake lights work - you can check this by having an assistant or when dark have the back of the car near a wall or opposite a window and seeing if the wall lights up when the brake pedal is used.

Xsara Picasso Central Locking Locks All Doors, But Doesn't Unlock

I think it is just a general one for Citroen's. You could also try an internet search for other versions that do the same thing. -
Citroen Ds Super Steering Rack Leak
paul.h replied to Squonk's topic in Questions about the Citroen DS
Have a look at this topic for details of a place in Wakefield that will recondition your rack and fit it for around £300. If your budget is not up to this then they may possibly offer help if you ask such as supply of the seals. http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/24038-c5-tourer-2011-power-steering-leak/ -
Xsara Picasso Central Locking Locks All Doors, But Doesn't Unlock
paul.h replied to lrochfort's topic in Technical Section
You can get another key fob case through ebay and put the insides and key blade from your existing one inside the new one. I do not know what the cause of the problem is but you could check the wiring between the driver's door and body for any damage but since the locks work one way and the wiring used is the same as to lock the doors then it is possibly not the fault. The bsi controls the locks so you could try a bsi reset by disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it - there is a procedure here http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/15093-bsi-reset/ You could also try 2 turns of the key in the lock in case it is dead locking which will stop the dash button unlocking the doors. Failing anything it may need a trip to a dealer for a diagnostic. On our first C3 (2003) the first use of the key or fob would dead lock it and a second use would still leave it locked but not dead locked. Our other cars need 2 pushes of the fob button/use of th ekey to dead lock. -
There might be 2 brake pedal switches when you have a look with one being for the cruise control. Have you checked if the brake lights are working normally from the pedal switch which might show if it is faulty, also it may just need adjusting.

Headlights Dimming/flickering Whilst Driving
paul.h replied to MichaelDavis's topic in C5 - Technical
By dip do you mean the lights go dim ? On the C5 it may be related to the suspension pump running and taking a high current. You could check the battery voltage before starting the engine and once running to see if the battery and charging are in good order. If the pump needs to run frequently then maybe there is a suspension problem - are there any leaks, does the suspension sink with the engine off, is the lds fluid level correct ? -
It may be a sign of the clutch dmf failing.

Our C5 does not have uneven or outside tyre wear and is on Michelins. Our previous 2004 C5 did not wear the tyres unevenly either and that used Michelins. I have stayed with Michelins since they do more miles than others I have used on all our Citroens, possibly 30 to 40k miles depending on the car. Others though have reported lower mileages. Have you tried a Citroen dealer for the tracking/suspension wear check? I have put your car details from a previous topic as your signature to save you needing to mention it every time you start a new topic.

The cruise control and abs could be related since the abs sensors give the car's speed and this is needed for the cruise. A low cost code reader will not give abs fault codes. You could have a look on the C5 forum for the pinned diagnostic help topic to see if somebody is near you who might be able to read the code.
