Citroen C5 2010. Parking Sensors Not Working
paul.h replied to Alexwpoole's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
Aftermarket parking sensor kits are cheap enough so it should not be too expensive to keep her happy. One from a Citroen dealer and installed by them though could be around £300 but will still be a type with a buzzer stuck in the back somewhere and not an original option one linked to the screen. If you have a towbar you might consider a 2 sensor kit so the towball does not cause it to go off - this is what johndouglas did. -
Well done, once any problems are sorted it will be a good car to enjoy/use. Did the seller point out the leaking rack or did you find it ?

I have read that you can get jelly in the fuel formed if there is water contamination and some biological action can occur. Maybe you could try a different petrol station.

When you got the low oil level message did you check the level on the dip stick to see if it was low ? Our C3 gradually uses oil and recently came up with the message to check oil level and it was below min on the dip stick, 1 litre put in and it was ok and back to max. I get the impression there may not be a real fault but a confused ecu that is not coping with level messages, if there is such a thing. When adding the oil did you disturb any wiring or connectors ?

I would try a company such as Gendan to see what they can offer to do Citroen as well as BMW.

This topic from a C4 forum might help, here the actuator fluid reservoir is on top of the gearbox http://c4owners.org/plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?170643.0

The Citroen Picasso Owners club has the same admin as this forum. He has not been on here since the beginning of September but was last on the Picasso forum 2nd November - you can see this by clicking on Moderating team at the bottom of the index page. Any problems with the forums that need fixing can only be done by admin and have to wait until he is back but when that is I do not know. The moderators can only edit/modify/delete/move posts and topics, reply to them as any other members can and ban members such as spammers.

Being a 2001 diesel you may find many code readers will not communicate with the car since OEBD was not required until 2004. Ideally the Citroen Lexia should be used for a diagnostic check which may need a visit to a Citroen dealer or Citroen specialist.

It may or may not be an injector but why go for the expensive thing first when no body has done any live data checks - you would kick yourself if you spent hundreds of pounds and then found out it was something like a £20 temperature sensor. When was the fuel filter last changed or at least drained to remove any water ?
-
Amongst the checks look at the engine coolant and air inlet temperatures, since these will set the fuel/air mixture.

Thanks for getting back to us, it does not matter how long ago you sorted it, knowing how it was done can help others with a similar problem.

Front And Rear Brake Pads Replacement Mk3X7
paul.h replied to spookydave's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
It is always good when a job goes well. I have changed the topic title slightly and pinned it since this is likely to be of interest to many C5 owners. I have also moved it to be with the brake topics for the earlier C5 model. -
Just to avoid confusion, from your other posts this is a 2.2 hdi 130 bhp engine

You might be able to see the rack by putting the steering on full lock and looking through the driver's side front wheel arch, otherwise it may be a case of taking a bit of cardboard and laying on it on the floor as best you can with a torch and maybe a mirror. You should do this anyway to look under the car for any problems.

All the Citroens we have owned the clutch uses the same fluid reservoir as the brakes but all have been normal manual gearboxes. A quick look at the parts diagrams only shows the brake master cylinder reservoir with a side connection half way up (or down) to feed the clutch so have a look at yours and follow any pipes to/from the clutch. If the clutch hydraulics need pressurising/bleeding this seems to need a diagnostic. You might be better though looking at the diagrams yourself using your VIN. If not already done register on service.citroen as another professional non emergency services and as a member of the Citroen Owners Club. http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres

This problem has come back again so nobody has been able to join the site since the end of October 2016. Unfortunately it can not be sorted by the moderators and needs a fix by admin.

Did you get the new seal from a Citroen dealer, the part no. appears to be 215615 which from a search looks like the one in your picture. You may need to check the pipe for damage and the new cylinder for any damage where the seal contacts it. This is all it has in the service box procedure for fitting a new slave cylinder with the bleed screw: .2. Refitting CAUTION : Adhere to the tightening torques.CAUTION : When coupling it, handle the hydraulic pipe (17) keeping it straight and not levering it to prevent any break.Lightly lubricate the connection between the rod of the hydraulic clutch slave cylinder (19) and the clutch fork ; Using G12 grease.Refit :The hydraulic clutch control slave cylinder (19)The 2 bolts (18) (New bolts)Clamp the clip (16) (this means to push the clip in).Connect the hydraulic pipe (17)

Which bleed system does it have - the type with a bleed screw to undo or the type where the pipe is pulled out a bit (double clip system) ?

A quick ebay check on the sensors gives prices around £40 upwards for each one so if you want winter tyres it may be more cost effective to have new tyres fitted to your existing wheels and then in the spring have your old tyres put back on.

How old is the DS5, I thought it was a legal requirement for new cars from about 2012 to have tyre pressure monitoring ? If so you will need to fit the sensors. Your dealer will be able to sell you the sensors which will need the tyres removing to fit and then I suspect they will need a diagnostic to programme them to the car. The parts might be transmitter 5430W0 and bolt 5541204. When you go back to the old wheels I suspect another diagnostic might be needed. Without them your car might fail the MOT. Also you need to tell your insurance company you have changed the wheels as a modification and mention the sensors, otherwise they may not pay out in a claim.

It might be Citroen part no. 6441CT but this should be checked at a dealer using your VIN. It is at the left side of the heater unit up at the back and accessed by removing the sound proofing above the passenger footwell. It is a quarter turn to remove but the heater pipe bracket in front may need removing first. http://www.ebay.fr/itm/Oe-behr-psa-ventilateur-de-chauffage-moteur-resistance-6441Ct-13985-P2942001/161973234163

Front And Rear Brake Pads Replacement Mk3X7
paul.h replied to spookydave's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
If it needs new pads then it may also need new discs so check their thickness before starting the job. The new thickness depends on the model but they are all even values with a minimum 2 mm less. The following is based on the Citroen service box procedures: On the fronts there are 2 different makes, in both the pistons just push back in and both need the brake hose 2 brackets undoing (hub end 2 bolts 12 Nm, strut end bolt 20 Nm). Teves which have a big spring on the caliper to remove and both bolts (27 Nm) holding the caliper to the bracket need removing so the caliper can be lifted off. TRW in which just the lower caliper bolt (29 Nm) is removed and the caliper tilted up. I had a Saab with one of those large springs and it was pain putting back, a bit of copper grease in the holes stopped it rusting in and from memory it helped to have the piston pushed in, when removing use a screwdriver at the hole ends to lever it out. I also think it needed an allen bit to undo the retaining bolts. The rear brake will be the TRW one without the electric handbrake, these need to turn the piston to wind it back in, both sides are clockwise. To remove the pads, unclip the brake hose from 2 brackets, unclip the hand brake cable from the caliper and then the bracket, undo the lower caliper bolt (35 Nm) and then tilt the caliper up. The caliper bolt is supposed to be renewed and may be included with the pads if from a dealer - if not then it probably has loctite on it so may need some adding. -
It is the 'half a day shopping' that would worry me, this could cost a fortune compared to the oil change.

When cabin fans only work at one speed it is often the speed control resistor that needs replacing. Which engine does the car have and does it have climate control or manual air con control ?
