  1. Well done. Always pays to double check things
  2. Regardless of what the manufacturer says theres no way on earth you want to leave the oil in for 2years/14k. Change it at least once a year or before it reaches 6k and always use a flushing agent
  3. Your going down the right lines with fuses/relays etc. Try checking the earth leads aswell as these system will have seperate fuses/relays and it is unlikley for all to blow in one go. the only thing they share is the earthing system on the vehicle
  4. remove each multiplug and see if you have bent any of the pins on the ecu also check like paul says all plugs and wires are located correctley
  5. ok u need to check the motors for the airflow direction flaps also check the pollen filter
  6. well it definatley sounds like a resistor problem. youl need to find the supply wires to the resistor. If they show 12 plus volts then its your resistor
  7. go with the 2.0 hdi c5. These run forever and will do mileage into the hundreds of thousands
  8. do you mean the actual fan unit itself ( the bit that spins to crat the wind) or the wiring going to the resistor pack
  9. The biggest cause of these turbo,s to fail is lack of oil changes and heat soak. The 1st is self explanatory the second is caused by the design of the turbo and a simple mistake that most people make. There isn't a bearing that fits tightly between the cartridge and the casing . there is a gap in the thousands of a millimetre this gap is filled with engine oil and in theory the turbo can run forever as no wear will occur due to a supply of fresh oil. However these turbo,s have to work really hard and run very hot. if they are switched of when hot then the oil that sits between the bearing suffers from heat soak were the oil soaks up the heat and starts to burn. This creates carbon deposits which then contaminates the oil system. Do as paul suggests and remove the filter in the feed pipe then give the engine a oil change and a flush. when you've finished a long/hard journey let the engine idle for a min before switching it of as this allows the oil to cool and stops the burning. Hopefully you've caught it in time and a few flushes will clean it for you. Have you just bought the car or had it a while so that you know the history of the turbo/engine
  10. when doing the journe do u have the blowers on then they just stop blowing or are they off and refuse to start. Sounds like the blower resistor is overheating then cools down and starts working as its a thermal resistor
  11. yes ive done a few front to rear pipes and they are a epic pain in the @rse to do. depending on the year it might be cheaper all round to convert it to a manual box via a cheap donor car
  12. Could be the solenoids or the clutches. Could try a diagnostic see if that shows up anything. These boxes are a specialist job so be carefull who u let touch it
  13. Also check the earths to the car
  14. very nice indeed. re gearbox Take it to the dealers its around £100 but worth every penny as its a complicated job to change the box oil and involves using thermometers. the keys try new batterys then resync them to the car (ignition on hold lock button on key fob for 10 seconds then try fob )
  15. start with a vacum gauge and see what pressure you have also do as paul says and check rubber pipes and wires 1st.
  16. What colour is the symbol
  17. Could be one of many things. You can maybe start with changing one component at a time and spend a fortune trying to repllace the sensor (if it is a sensor at fault) or you can get it plugged in and the scanner will tell you what area t0 look into
  18. It makes quite a difference as it relates to the boost pressure for the turbo. If it open to early/late it will put the engine light on
  19. Yes u need what is called penny bublle rubber flooring and can be got from machine mart. comes all different patterns and colours and is 6mm thick rubber that u cut to size
  20. Sounds like turbo lag and is a very commom issue as its not really a problem. c\ould try a service to see if that helps you as its not worth paying for a diagnostic
  21. no its just a factory fitted alarm
  22. 08 was the year they changed model design is yours a mk 1 revamp or a mk2. Contary to popular opinion there isnt actually a mk3. theres m1 then a mk1 revamp and a mk2
  23. think it could be the micro switch
  24. |This was a very common fault with the xantia and the fault was with the ignition wire from behind the key barrel. will post the fix tomorrow
  25. well in 30 years of fixing Citroen's this is a first. this is just a guess. You have either caught something driving along the road or a cable has come lose and unwound itself
