coastline taxis replied to joemac666's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
Hi you didnt say what size engine it has. if its a 1.6 run away as fast as youcan. If its a 2.litre then have a bit think about it but remember the auto box dosnt have a good reputaition and is really expensive to when when it goes wrong . -
Make sure you have the bulbs and holders in ocrrectly as there very fiddly anw will refuse to work for the slightest thing
-
if youve got the lexia try coding the comm unict into the bsi unit after giving it a global scan to see what else it picks up

Automatic Transmission Misbehaving
coastline taxis replied to Mike O.'s topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
The car has a adaptive drive cycle were it learns from the way its driven. give the car a bsi reset then take it out on the road for half a hour. make sure you do round the town and a bit motorway driving -
Sorry to be the bearer of bad new but as of April last year the parts were no longer available to fix them. Whether the situation has changed or not I don't know. there was a lot of uproar about it and watchdog was involved. We had to stop repairing the rear suspensions for that reason and all we do now is convert them to steel spring ( which is no good for you)..do a Google on Citroen c4 suspension Harrys blog. May be prudent to phone the seller and explain your situation. like I say sorry for the bad news
-
forget the problems that c5s have as your suspension is air driven (pneumatic). Its either a fault on the compressor or both rear airbags are knackered. Your better off pulling the rear springs and airbags of the car altogether and replace with normal steel spring. As for driving it 117 miles well youl be pone of the bravest people in the world if you do and it would have to be under 20 all the way home. youd be better off getting a trailer to bring it home. the airbags im refering to are in the rear springs and NOT IN THE DASHBOARD or interior

Is it a c5 your trying it on because some of the lexias wont work on a c5 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEXIA-3-PEUGEOT-CITREON-DIAGNOSTIC-INTERFACE-PP2000-CAN-BUS-DIAGBOX-V7-V48-V25-/221439991639?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item338eda1f57 This one will work on a c5. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UK-Stock-Lexia3-V47-Citroen-Peugeot-Diagnostic-PP2000-V25-with-30pin-cable-/151309808177?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item233ac47231 And this one wont work on a c5. Check were you got it from or ask them if it does a c5

Chances are that your car has had a set of non citroen pads put in which dont come with the anti rattle clips. the anti rattle clips can only be got through buying a set of pads of citroen £60 to £70 if i remember correctly

A Few Technical Issues - Cam Belt Snapped
coastline taxis replied to ZXCharlieR's topic in Technical Section - C8
Before you spend another penny on anything see if your injectors will come out first. They are prone to sticking in and are a absolute pig to get out. -
Radio Code - Safe To Remove Battery For Charging?
coastline taxis replied to ctaniab's topic in C3 - General
your stereo is coded via your vin number so the ecu can reconise it. so theres no code for you to put in it does it automaticly -
You service book will tell you to change it every 5 years. Your car is 2006 so the fluid is 8 years old would you be happy if it was your gearbox/engine or brake fluid that was this old You change it a certain intervals because it losses its viscosity and gets contaminated with bits of seals and the reevoir has air in it which in turn has moisture in it and forms water

2.2 Hdi: Total Systems Failure! Duff Ecu?
coastline taxis replied to FridgemagnetC5's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
Theres a few more checks you can do. but from exprience this sound like a wiring issue or a corrupt bsi unit The fuses that you checked in the glove box has 4 30amp fuses hidden above them. Easiest way is to just remove the glove box to see them. The fuses are part of the bsi unit so check all the multiplugs and wiring going into it. weve seen a few where the main harness int the bsi unit have been rubbing against the brake connecting rod and worn thru the wires and another where passengers feet have pulled wires out. Have you go acsess to any diagnostic tools -
Does the car give out a puff of white smoke when you start it up on a morning

C4 1.6 Hdi Sounding Very Tappity On Start Up Until Warm Up
coastline taxis replied to maverick11's topic in C4 - Technical
The common fault on the 1.6 is the injector seals leaking. -
hello and welcome to the forum. The car sounds good. The only concern id have is the gearbox as there not the best in the world weve had 2 autos first one the box died at 120k the second one was sold to a member on here with 156k on it and is still going strong (was just talking to him last month). the only maintanence difference was the second one went to the dealers every year for a gearbox oil change and only had one driver from when we got it. we now tend to avoid auto simply because of the mpg and IF they do go wrong there a pain and expensive to get fixed. With the car having full dealer history ask them to check if the gearbox oil has been changed regulary. If it has id probally give it a go. If not then id walk away

C4 1.6 Hdi Sounding Very Tappity On Start Up Until Warm Up
coastline taxis replied to maverick11's topic in C4 - Technical
its got to be low ash and thats what a 1.6 has to have phone citroen up and theyl tell you what oil you have to put in. You could do the oil change yourself as its really straight forward and youl get advice of this site if you want to give it a go. Dont take any chances it should be flushed aswell -

As long as your not doing a 600 mile round trip youl be ok. google 1.6hdi turbo problems and read. If you treat them with total respect regarding oil changes and use the correct stuff itl be ok. Im not a big fan of the 1.6 but over the last couple of months weve had a few in with 150 to 190k on them and all with the original turbo on them. After talking to the owners it seems that the thing they have in common is they all go to the dealers for there service bits. A lot of car discount shops dont realise that its a special oil for the 1.6 and give the wrong stuff out. So make a point of going to the dealers -

Check the wiring were it comes of the radiator support panel and goes into the relay box right on the bend. Also pull the relay and check it yourself
