They dont sell it because its needed, they sell it because people think they need it. I bet there are plenty of unnecessary things on sale, not just in Halfords either. Well, actually, nothing is necessary in life, except food and water. :D

I think the general rule is that you will get about 10% less than the 'official' combined MPG figure. Some people will get more, and others less, as it depends on your driving style and the type of roads you travel on. Examples listed below based on official combined figures in brackets, followed by 10% less 'real world' figure. (Official mpg) REAL MPG. 1.4i 16V 90hp (44.1) 39.69 1.6i 16V 110hp (39.8) 35.82 1.6i 16V 110hp Auto (37.2) 33.48 2.0i 16V 143hp (37.2) 33.48 2.0i 16V 180hp (33.6) 30.24 1.6HDi 16V 92hp (60.1) 54.09 1.6HDi 16V 110hp (58.8) 52.92 2.0HDi 16V 138hp 6 speed (51.4) 46.26

I have the Diesel 2.0 HDi VTS Currently getting 47 mpg. Mostly motorway driving. First 2 weeks I got 45.5 mpg, so my driving style has improved. Economy is supposed to improve with increased mileage.

Welcome to the forum VTRPlus. :) Normal delivery times for new vehicles are 2 to 4 weeks, so does not seem unusual. I know we always want everything next day delivery these days, but have you tried building a C4 yourself :D Mine was ex-demo off the shelf, apart from having to wait a week for the climate control to be fixed before I took delivery, and I thought that was a long time to wait ! :)

Welcome trypodz. I like the Iron Grey, which is why I have same colour :) I wanted black at first, but after seeing Iron Grey I changed my mind, and makes it a bit different from others. :D
-
I guess that is when you become a trained automobile technician :D
-
VTR is no good for me then, as I love gadgets  I guess that's why I got a VTS. ;)
-
I had to check the manual when I first got mine, as all the controls on the steering wheel were totally alien to me. In fact an evening spent reading the manual is a necessity to get the most out of the C4. There is still some controls I have not really played with much yet. :P What confused me most was why there are so many different trip computers ? ;) I have the hang of it now though just about.
-
I would expect a few more C4's will have climate control heater problems after all this hot weather. Maybe they break after the winter, as most people would not use the aircon as much, and have the heater on all the time, which could get stuck in heat mode for the following summer.

I prefer to cruise to work on the motorway... That way I can take a nap on the back seat. Oh damn, i don't have cruise steering ! :o I guess Citroen forgot to enable that function :o
-
Or you could just lower the speed with the Cruise Contol on and the car will decelerate. I also love the cruise control! Takes too long for speed to adjust if a car or truck suddenly pulls in front of you and slows down on the motorway. Hence turn it off then on again, or just brake sharply !
-
I am enjoying the cruise on my VTS. I have found that if you are sudenly getting too close to the car in front, then just flick the cruise switch off then on again, and when you have dropped back a bit then set your speed again. Have not had any problems yet.

20,000miles is only a year for me, so this is very good news. I did consider buying another Audi or Skoda which uses variable servicing, as they use 'fully synthetic oil' and service intervals can be up to 24,000 miles depending on how you drive. My old Audi A4 had 10,000 miles servicing which is crazy for the mileage I do, as it's 2 services per year. Megabucks, even for the independant dealers.

Functions That Can Be Enabled Via Dealer Software
C4VTS replied to Mike5483's topic in C4 - Technical
Is there a prize for remembering all the functions ? :o -
Welcome to the Forum ! I have seen 3 other C4's this week so far, which is a record for me. :o

Good Points --------------- Nice looking car Very quiet for a Diesel Comfortable seats Cruise control and Speed Limiter Very relaxing to drive on motorways. Standard Stereo has good sound quality Climate Control Xenon headlights that see around corners Central LCD Instrument display. 20,000 miles service interval. Bad Points ------------- 1st and 2nd gear changes not very smooth compared to my old Audi A4 Difficult to judge front and rear of car when parking due to curvy bodywork. Rear visibility reduced on the Coupé due to bar across rear window. Attracts too much attention! Nowhere to put a mobile phone and still see it's display. (Going to get a bracket) Key needed for fuel cap. Radio/track changes only forwards on steering controls. Body Panels are a bit thin. Horn function location at bottom of steering wheel. Conclusion -------------- The 'bad points' are very minor issues, and do not stop my overall enjoyment of owning and driving the car. The 'good points' far outweigh the 'bad points'. :o I am very happy with my VTS. :o

Just found out today from service department, that the VTS 2.0 HDi is serviced every 20,000 miles. I don't know why the 1.6HDi is only every 12,500 miles though. There must be a difference in the 1.6 and 2.0 HDi engines, apart from just the size, and I am not sure if this only applies to the VTS or other models also.
-
Perhaps that is why my service book was not stamped ? I sent it back to the salesman to get it stamped this week. <_<
-
When I bought my ex-demo car it was serviced by the dealer, and the service indicator said next service in 20,000 miles. I have the Diesel VTS. I just assumed they must be using better oils now or extended the service intervals. In the service book it does not even mention the 2.0HDi engine, so perhaps it never ever needs servicing ? LOL <_<

I voted citroenc4.org.uk.
-
Well, I tried that, and so did 'sammys hdi vts' as mentioned earlier in this thread, but it was a no go. Is it worth trying another dealer?

Welcome to the forum andya99. If you have the 5 door hatchback then electric seats are an option with the leather interior. On the coupé the front leathers seats are only heated. Which C4 do you have?
-
So, I guess this means that unless the factory have installed the firmware/software then there is nothing we can do to enable all these extra functions?
-
Was told by technician today that my C4 VTS does not have the specification for the visual reverse warning or the tilting door mirrors. Salesman thinks that I would need to have had the front parking sensors as well as just the rear ones to have the visual display. And nobody has seen a C4 with tilting mirrors, even though the handbook says it does do it.
-
Had my car looked at today... The technician has to see the rear view mirror actually drooping in the heat, otherwise they cannot replace it. So looks like I have to live with it for the time being.
