Well, it's not rocket science to check that a customers car is secure when being left outside, ie all doors and windows shut.
-
I am not very happy today  Went to collect my car from the dealer today after having some work done, and when I looked inside the car it had nearly an inch of water in the passenger side front and rear. Someone had left the car outside the dealer overnight with the window open  I had to keep the loan car and leave it with them to put right. :(

The problem today, is that everybody thinks they are a good driver, and many surveys have confirmed this theory. Passing the IAM test does not make you a good driver anymore than passing the standard car driving test. The problem with any kind of test is that it only confirms that on the day of the test you were competant enough to pass. An MOT test is only really valid when the vehicle was tested, as anyone could borrow bits of another vehicle just to pass the test, such as tyres, lights etc. My employer sent me on a driver awareness course, which I found slightly useful. It was only a classroom session, but it did provide some useful information on potential hazards.

I have had a loan 06 reg Picasso Desire for the last 5 days. It is a 1.6 HDi. I am very impressed with it. It has very low noise, and you hardly know it is a diesel despite what the last poster just said. I drive a C4 VTS HDi, so that is what I am comparing it to! Build quality seems pretty good. I have taken a few loads of rubbish down to the local recycling tip, and it is amazing how much you can get in the car. On the road the handling is good, and it cruises on the motorway very nicely. I wish I could keep it as a 2nd car.

I had similar rubber strips on my Audi A4, and there was a screw near the door hinge that secures the strip in place from the inside. After removing the screw it was just a case of sliding to one side and pull off. I don't know if the C4 is the same?

I would also like to know if the microphone and wiring is fitted in my VTS, even though I have no bluetooth from factory. I would also be interested in a bluetooth kit.

I think it takes a few accidents or very near 'misses' for a driver to realise that he/she can not continue to drive in such a manner to have caused such incidents. I have had a few accidents over the years, and most of these were due to not looking far enough ahead, and some were just stupid shunts due to not looking where I was going. I have been involved in two accidents that were not my fault, and these were caused by the other driver pulling out of side turnings and not looking where they were going. I have been accident free for about 10 years now. A good driver is someone that drives with consideration for other road users, and knows how to look for, and react to potential hazards.

I am just starting to get brave enough to take high speed corners without braking in the C4, and I am very impressed with the way the car corners like it is on rails. :) Obviously if you are doing silly speeds way over the safe speed limit for the corner, then you will eventually find yourself losing grip and the car! :D

Manchester was known as car crime capital of England, so is it a good idea for a car owners meet in such a place ?
-
I got a knocking noise on nearside front. I suspect it may be the plastic liner in the nearside front wing is a bit loose ? I can wait until first service, as not too annoying.
-
I don't want to go further north than Manchester, as that's about 2.5 hours from here. :D

I agree that red looks nice, but red cars attract trouble, hence red for Danger! It is alleged that red cars get involved in more accident damage than other colours. I know of one recent case of friend at work with new red Renault (Rubbish) Laguna, and first someone keyed the whole car several times over, and then few months later, the car was written off after being rear ended on a motorway!

Checked mine when i bought it, and the nearside rear pads have been replaced as they are Bosch branded, and I think all the others said Peugeot? I don't have any problems with brake squeal in my Citroen UK ex-demo VTS.

http://www.channel4.com/4car/feature/featu...ure.jsp?id=2974 Channel 4 final report on their long term test of C4VTS 180 The pop up adverts are a bit annoying, but is an interesting read. Nothing really went wrong with the car. Just a minor issue with the service indicator, and a moan about the powerful brakes. I like the good brakes, as they are supposed to stop the car pronto when you need them to. In my opinion it is other cars that have poor brakes, and people just not used to good brakes.

I presume you have tried confused.com and Tesco ?

I have notice that on the motorway inside lane where HGV's have been all day, every day, that my car tries to follow the tramlines that have been left by them. At first I thought my steering was damaged, as it keeps trying to pull one way or the other, but as soon as you drive on a good road surface the car steers perfectly straight on it's own. It's to do with the low profile tyres, and if you fit bigger wheels with lower profile tyres than standard it will make things worse, as the tyre footprint is much flatter and will follow every rut in the road.
-
That would be correct on a race track with no oncoming trees ! But, as your driven and steerable wheels had left the ground I don't think you could have done much. I would have just tried to steer the car, and left brakes and accelerator alone.
-
Glad to hear you are ok. :( At least we know all the safety features work as they should

I only have rear sensors but been told it is not in my car spec. My VTS is no different to any others as far as I can tell. It was mentioned by someone that my display is not the right display, but I thought all VTS had same display except for Navidrive option, and that is reason for no visual reverse warning display.

I had a windscreen replaced on my Audi A4, and it was done in semi-darkness. The fitter was absolutely hopeless, and it was obvious he had never done an Audi before, if any car at all ! and he even scratched the paintwork on drivers side door pillar. Just hope I never need a windscreen on the C4.

Aha... So you do work for Ford? :o I have had the new Focus as a rental car, and was not at all impressed with it. The seats were very uncomfortable, and build quality no better than a C4. If you fead the FFOC forum, there are plenty of people there with bits falling off their cars, and rattles, and faults.
-
Are you sure you are not a troll sent in by Ford, as you seem to have had a lot of problems  I guess company car drivers just drive their cars to destruction. :o
-
Greetings ! As there are not many C4's on the roads, I would guess they are not selling too many. :o Too many people play safe these days, and just buy a Focus! which is really boring. I think the C3 and Picasso are Citroên's best sellers, as I see a lot more of them.

I have compared my on board computer MPG to working it out manually with a calculator, and found my VTS computer is spot on. The speedometer is also spot on, as I have compared it to GPS speed. My old Audi A4 fuel computer used to over read by about 10%, and Golf's are the same. This explains why you often see Audi/VW owners claiming 50 - 60mpg.
