C4VTS

I suspect that most C4 drivers are under 40, but hey, let's see what the poll tells us? I would not expect a hat wearing, pipe smoking ex-Rover driver to have a C4, but what do I know? :lol:

I now have my C4VTS HDi, and am very happy with it, and it's only my first day with it! I did not buy a Focus because it looks so dull. I remember when Top Gear parked a Focus on a busy Croydon high street before it was even on sale, and nobody looked at it, even though it was on double yellow lines! Also saw Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear saying that Ford should have built the C4, and the C4 was their car of the year. The C4VTS has much more included options that Ford charge extra for, including the xenon headlights, traction control and ESP, and many extras that Ford do not even offer as an option! The Focus was just too expensive compared to the C4, and from what I have read on the FFOC owners forum, the Focus has too many poor build quality issues, and all their dealers are crap at servicing. :lol: I have definitely made the right choice :)

I get no visual display on my VTS. Will have a play with the sensor on/off switch tomorrow to see if that will do anything to activate the visual display.

The battery in my Audi A4 lasted 8 years. You know when it's failing, because it no longer holds a charge and not enough power in it to operate the starter motor. Usually fails during winter or just after.

Mine are OK, no sign of any damage.

Well, I now have my C4VTS at last, and the climate is working good now :) The car drives very well, and there is no rattles or creaks from having the new heater box fitted, so it is a job well done. :lol:

I would of gone for a Renault (Rubbish) but you have to pay extra for the options that a VTS has as standard, like xenons which i particularly wanted, as it includes headlamp wash which will be brilliant in winter on the motorway :lol:

Why is it when I type Renault (Rubbish) (rubbish), that there is an echo ? Like rubbish gets shown twice ?

I work for a French owned company, and they are offering new Renault (Rubbish) (Rubbish) cars on a 3 year personal lease purchase to staff at a good price. Just a damn shame they do not offer the same deal for Citroen. Because of the high mileage I do it works out cheaper to buy outright than to lease purchase, as the more miles you do on a lease drive car the the price increases very sharply.

I agree that the paddle shift would be great if it works properly. The C4 needs to stay ahead of the competition, and maybe some of the gadgets that Citroen have used in the works rally cars will make their way onto the road cars. I thought that was one reason that manufacturers want to be in WRC or F1, so as to take forward any new technology into the road cars. Just like Formula 1, you need to stay ahead of the competion, as they can catch up fast. Renault (Rubbish) are doing a good job so far, but a shame their road cars are so rubbish. :lol:

Sounds similar to the Audi/VW/Skoda DSG gearbox.

The new modified heater box for my car arrived earlier this week, and the fitting of it was completed this afternoon. I will pick the car up on saturday. It does seem to be a common fault, as more people are now reporting this climate control issue on here.

Insurance companies will want to add another £100 to insure alloys as a 'modification' to manufacturers spec. If your car is stolen/damaged, you will not recover cost of extra alloys or any other mod unless declared. Why not just buy a car with the spec you want in the first place ?

The car is not taxed yet, and I can only get to the dealer at weekends due to the distance. Also decided that the weather is very hot this week, so would prefer to have working climate control. Maybe I will get it next week. I think the leather seats are more comfortable than the cloth seated cars I have tried, and seem to offer better support.

Hi pork_pie Thanks for the info ! I will ask the dealer to put a VOR tag on the part, if they are not already reading this ! I drive 20,000 miles per year, and all my journeys are long distance, so need a diesel, and need a comfortable car with nice leather seats and climate control that works! Fortunately my Audi A4 climate is great, but working overtime in the current 30 degrees heatwave. I want the C4, but not much more i can do at this stage.

Maybe the Visual warning is when you have hit the other car ! Just kidding :D

Hi Ian, I have left the car at the dealer for another week, and have shown them your post about the heater box. The main concern from the dealer was that the part has been put on 'back order' and there has been occasions when it has been weeks for parts to arrive. How long ago was it, that you had yours replaced? I have told the salesman I still want to buy the car, and he has been very good so far in keeping me informed, and he hopes to find out more about the spares situation on monday.

So it could happen to anyone then, this climate problem. In which case I could get another car and this fault could happen on that one. I think I should just get this car, and wait for the parts. I presume yours is ok now Ian ? How long did you wait for the part? Thanks

It's the end of the month, and the salesman wants his commission ! Am I just too cynical?

If this is as good a deal as you think, then the salesman may well want it back to sell onto someone who wont knock him down as much, hence getting him more commision, once they fix the aircon. That is my suspicion ! I think the salesman knows I have got a great deal, and maybe he is trying to bottle out of the deal :D I will push for all i can get !

Thanks I think this is what my head is telling me to do !!! I cannot find this spec/mileage car for same price anywhere else, and I have searched the whole of UK, so I think I must have this car, and suffer until it can be fixed ! Still has 2 year Citroen UK manufacturers warranty. Does anyone else agree?

Did I say the dealer was bad ? I think not! So you think I should wait weeks/months for the part before taking delivery? Salesman thinks I should reject the car ! I have only spoken to salesman who is not at all technical, and therefore has not been able to tell me exactly what has been done, but I get the impression car has been stripped down but not 100% certain. I will ask tomorrow if aircon has been re-initialised. Thanks. Any other ideas greatfully received.

Just had a call from Citroen dealer I was due to pick up ex-demo C4 VTS from, tomorrow which I have paid deposit on. The climate control only blows cold air on the passenger side but hot always on drivers side. The car needs a part to fix this, but dealer and Citroen cannot give a date for a replacement part to fix this. Does anyone know what this part might be, and has anyone else had this fault? Should I reject the car, or take it as is and wait for the part to be in stock which could take weeks/months according to the salesman? I really want this car as it has leather seats which is difficult to find on a C4, and I have spent a long time looking, so I am a bit pished off to say the least. Is there anything else I can do to get this fixed quicker, or should I get another C4 that will not have the leather (which I want)?

Just a quick survey, as thought it would be useful to give a visual representation of any problems owners have with the C4. French cars do not have a good reputation, but has the C4 broken this trend? Make Sure You Vote Before you View The Results !
