  1. My VTS is booked in for saturday to get the rear view mirror looked at. I wanted them to check the reverse gear warning display not working as well, but I was told they can't do two different faults. <_<

    Reversing ?

Did they get the visual display working? Was it a long job?

    Reversing ?

Yes. Reverse lights and beep warning works ok.
  4. In the handbook for my VTS it states that when you select reverse gear the door mirrors adjust to give a better view of the ground if the switch is not in central position. My door mirrors do not move when I select reverse, so is this a problem, and is it related to the fact that I also do not have a visual warning on the display when reversing?
  5. Z3M Apart from the normal recalls, what problems have you been having exactly? I have read every post on this forum, and not seen any major problems, but maybe some annoying ones
  6. If it's not a turbo diesel, then it sounds about normal. Years ago when I went from a non-turbo ZX to a turbo version, the difference was huge. The turbo version is much quieter and smoother, and of course very quick.
  7. Ok, so what about owners in hot countries... Do they have to use blue tack and a bit of string all summer?
  8. My rear view mirror today, after work would not stay in position. I guess the plastic is too soft in this heat, as when the car interior cools down with the aircon on full blast, the mirror becomes more solid again. Is there a Citroen fix for the drooping rear view mirror?

    C4 Security

When I changed car a couple of weeks ago, I was charged an extra £120, but a new policy would have only cost another £50 <_< I was told the only way around this was to terminate my existing policy and wait for a refund, and then take out the new policy online. I decided it was too much trouble, but could have saved a few pounds. I would guess that new policies are all commission based, and the commission can only be paid for a new policy, which is why you always lose out by staying with same company. Same principle applies to mobile phone contracts.
  10. I had a similar 'tuning box' on my old Audi A4. The device fitted in the fuel pump wiring loom. Easy to fit . Just unplug a connector and insert the 'tuning box'. After a few months my turbo blew, which cost £2,000 to put right. (New turbo, new CAT, and new exhaust) It certainly did boost the power, but it may have been responsible for death of my turbo. I did not re-fit the 'tuning box' after the expensive repair. My Audi had a high mileage which may have contributed to the demise of the turbo. Something to think about before you buy this kind of performance mod.

    C4 Security

An alarm just tells you that either someone has broken into your car, or it was a false alarm. The immobiliser will stop anyone driving the car, unless of course they steal your keys, which is more common these days. Steering wheel locks are a waste of money on a modern car with immobiliser, but good on an old car pre 1997, which was when immobilisers had to be fitted to all new cars. If you must have an alarm it will cost you about £350 including fitting for a good one. Thatcham CAT1 Alarms are the only type worth considering, as you will get a discount on your car insurance. A tracker system will also get you a discount on your car insurance, but you need to pay an annual subscription. A tracker will allow the police to find your car if it is stolen by tracking the location of a hidden transmitter in the car. If you get the C4 'Security Pack' the side windows are laminated which prevents them being smashed, and also you get an alarm fitted. This feature is standard on the VTS and Exclusive.
  12. My neighbours both have Picasso's, and we are not talking oil paintings  I might see one other C4 in a week on my daily commute.
  13. Actually incorrect. The VTS diesel has a chrome insert on the leather gear lever knob. The VTS petrol has an aluminium gear lever knob. (checked the sales brochure) I use TomTom for Satnav which is probably better than any car manufacturers built in product and a lot cheaper too. Plus you can add a database of all the 'safety cameras'. Only had my ex-demo Hdi VTS a week and with aircon on 19 degrees, I am getting 46mpg on average of mainly motorway driving. I will cut the speed down a bit next week and see if this improves, and also try the aircon on 21 degrees to see if that helps. I only got diesel due to the mileage I drive(about 20,000miles/yr), and the fact I will be keeping the car for at least 5 years. So the higher price paid will be worth it.
  14. Is the C4 Coupé more common than the 5 door Hatchback? Is a C4 Diesel more common than the Petrol C4 equivalent ? All will be revealed in this Poll  Thanks to Mat for the Inspiration to create this Poll B)
  15. What do you mean by "tricks"? As wozza said really. I reprogrammed the Alarm system to not 'beep' when you lock the doors, and my Audi dealer always told me they could not do that! It took me about 30 seconds to re-program after doing my research on the internet. Main use is for reading fault codes, and they are all listed on the internet, as well as what to look for if you get a fault code.
  16. I would be interested in the meet, but preferably next month or later this month. Am near the Oxfordshire/Northants/Warwickshire borders.
  17. I am 44, but have been told I look 10 years younger B) ......but that could mean 10 years younger than someone of 94

    Recall Xxj

Is this only for petrol cars ?
  19. Yes, it is the OBD interface for the dealer to plug in diagnostic computer. My Audi A4 had the same interface, and I think most cars have OBD interface these days. I had a program called VAG-com which use to do lots of tricks on the Audi. Maybe we will see some unnofficial software for the C4 ?
  20. Tried my own Blaupunkt head unit in my C4, but I lose the reversing audio warning which others have also mentioned. It must be something in the multiplex wiring, as those connections are not used. I think I read on here, that a Citroen dealer maybe able to program the car to say radio not fitted, but not heard that it definitely restores the reverse warning. I may just put the original radio back and get a 9706AG aux lead fitted.

    Recall Xxj

Nothing on the VOSA web site about this 'recall'.
  22. Spoiler is not standard on the Hdi version of VTS in the UK. It seems a bit daft to me, but that's Citroen for you! I am not really sure if I want a spoiler. Welshguy.... Check your firewall or browser settings if you can't see the pics.

  24. How much does the ISO adapter for the C4 from Citroen Parts cost? I have seen these on the internet for about £25 including the aerial adapter and postage. ........................................................................................................................ I have now ordered the ISO and aerial adapters from Nexxia for £24.90. I will see if my old Blaupunkt Los Angeles which plays MP3's sounds any better than the standard radio. Also be interested to see if the reverse sensor warning still works, as I read that someone else found it not working.
