Intermittent weight sensor for seat belt warning? Have you left anything on any of the seats? If it's heavy enough to trigger the sensor there you go. Worth unplugging the wire to the reverse switch on the gear box?
-
The loss of turbo response and the leak from the intercooler are related. You can either pay up for a new intercooler or see if it's possible to simply plug the leaks in the old one. It may be worth getting an intercooler from a breaker, which you may be able to get pressure tested before swapping it out. Any leak after the turbo compressor in the intercooler or associated piping will cost you performance. A friend had a leaky hose connecting to the intercooler on an XUD 1.9 406 and there was no evidence of the turbo in action at all.

C5 Estate - Rear Window & Cd Player
Randombloke replied to dragonair's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
'Fraid you have but no issue. It's been covered on both this list and the Yahoo C5 list too. There is a cheap and very reliable fix but it is not an official one. Thread on rear screen opening The fix is easy to do with some bell wire, gaffer/duct/sileage repair tape and a soldering iron. You will also need a multimeter. It will take you a leisurely hour or a rushed 1/2 hour. The rear window is not worth replacing unless you get it done for free under guarantee. I would check all cables. Most older head units simply recognise a changer on the end of the cable, but then again with the C5 maybe it needs to be coded into the car. Seeing as it's dead anyway I'd be tempted to simply unplug it, have a good look and remake all connections. -
Your problems will start when you run into a French Policeman who will insist that all headlights are masked, whether you drive at night or not. It's the law, AFAIK. He'll simply issue an on the spot fine, which most European Police Forces can do. I'm concerned that unless the Xenons are 100% flat, then they will cause other drivers problems. I would rather mask unnecessarily than cause a problem for other drivers on the continent. YMMV.

Yes. It's very different from the Xantia/BX/GS. It's capable of levelling when the engine is not running. IIRC also that drive belt arrangements changed quite a lot from BX to Xantia, as the BX ran the pump off the end of camshaft, whereas XU(D) engines fitted to Xantias had different arrangements, and the DW10 engine is totally different full stop.

I got mine from Mid Kent Vehicle Services I think it has to be coded into the car, but I'm not sure. It was a big saving over a fob/plip. I needed the confidential code first, though.
-
This is a key without the remote unlocking plip. It is much cheaper to buy than a remote locking key, and will work in times of emergency. It is usually the kind of key you would give to the garage to use whilst fixing the car. When I go abroad I take mine and keep it on me at all times in case I get locked out of the car. The alarm will still go off if you open the car with the ordinary key but you can stop it. It's cheaper than buying a full remote key you will never use.
-
I only got one key with my car. I had to get the confidential code re-issued, but then bought a garage key with no fob, that will lock /unlock/start the car. I sometimes use the garage key without remote locking. It is a cheaper option. I also give the garage the basic key when getting the car serviced.

The answers for the 2.2 HDi manual are here. I have a friend with 2.2 auto which he drives very gently, economy is from 30 to 40 on motorway trips. The newer 6 speed seems to be more economical. Fuel economy round town does suffer somewhat on the 2.2 IMV.

Esp\asr Not Functioning-anti Pollution Fault
Randombloke replied to a topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
If it is intermittent, it's worth checking the battery voltage. You sometimes get spurious messages if the battery is not 100%. Get an error code from someone with a diagnostic kit. -
Post Code search with the updated software is still limited to 5 characters on UK postcodes with Teleatlas/VDO Dayton 2006/7 discs.

Hi Rob, The part number is 00006563Y2 and the description is CDROM LOGICIEL. HTH, HAND.

There is Exclusive and Exclusive SE. I'm moderately sure (but will bow to superior knowledge of KFK or iannez) that Exclusives have colour screen and sat nav, which you should be able to see in interior photos, and also cruise control as standard. IIRC they'll also have leather seats, and reporting valves. All Exclusives should be H3+. IIRC the SE simply has everything. It's worth finding out what the equipment list for an Exclusive was, and if it hasn't got all that stuff, it isn't an Exclusive, and if it has, even if it's not being sold as an Exclusive, it's as good as. I'm lucky enough to have an Exclusive SE. Being 2002, it only has a 5 speed box. It's very hard (IMV) to find an Exclusive 2.0l, but that is the one to go for if you want the better fuel economy, by quite a margin. Early 2.0l have no FAP (particulate filter) which is a saving at 50 or 75k services. Most Exclusives or SEs are 2.2l. Re Xenon v Halogen - if you have Xenons the main and dipped beam will very different colours. Mine are by a very long way. Surely you aren't buying a car via eBay uninspected? If you are, here is a tip. No one ever takes photos of that very large puddle of oil in the engine bay next to the intercooler input hose. When I inspected the car, the only conclusion I could come to was to walk away. An independent Citroen specialist had no idea what it was over the phone, but could assure me it was likely to be expensive.

2002 C5 2.2 Hdi Exclusive - Thinking Of Buying
Randombloke replied to a topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
Particulate filter on these can be 50k or 75k, depending on RPN. IIRC cambelt is 100k. Have a look here: C5 annoyances -
I bought it from Citroen Auch: http://www.citroen-auch.com/ I cannot remember the exact part number as it was part of a debate on Planete Citroen. If you search the message of the same subject on the Yahoo C5 forum it is there. Be wary as there are two types of Sat Nav, one Philips IIRC and one VDO Dayton. Otherwise you'll have to wait till I finish my hols and can give you the part number from the receipt I have at home.

The disk can be bought from a Citroen dealer I'm sure - you will need to find one like Bollingmores who are up to speed on this sort of thing. There may be a price issue, I was advised to find the CD myself for reasons of cost. Bollingmore's web site I have yet to try a post code search in the UK on 7 characters as I have been away. All the postcodes in all the European countries I've travelled through in the last 2 weeks are 5 digit only.

Serious?!?! So do I, I have the manual. I would talk to either Mid Kent Vehicle Services, 01622 794499, in New Hythe, near the Tescos in Larkfield. otherwise, Medway Citroen 01634 849609. I have used them both and would recommend them both highly.

Answer here: C5 Sat nav thread in C5 sub forum
-
There are a number of changes. Knob is more sensitive, and therefore scrolls faster. Time shown on trip computer screen is now engine running time, not elapsed time since last reset. Postcode searches work in France and Italy but I do not not know if this is a result of new CDs with better databases in sat nav or software update. Sat nav seems to be faster to calculate and recalculate but the proximity of a ladder and hang glider are still hampering GPS reception. Screen seems to have been improved in look by lighting effect on surfaces - very minor.

There is a workshop manual, how good is your French? If you give a location, forum members may be able to help you with possible menders.

C5 2003 Hpi Exclusive Sat Nav Problem
Randombloke replied to stef's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
Does this only happen in Sat Nav mode or does the screen go dark whilst in other modes? If it only goes dark in Sat Nav mode (as opposed to trip computer or general info) try ejecting the CD. Does this solve things? If it goes dark in all modes can you see a very low level image on the screen? -
The CD has arrived and I have updated both my display and the Sat Nav without problems. The CD has a complete set of instructions in all the languages the car uses. As I bought the car without a CD it is useful to have anyway. €22.72 plus €13 postage.

Traffic master is a well visited topic here: Trafficmaster Aerial Location, I'm looking for the aerial, does it work Traffic Master, how do I get rid of her!! C5 Traffic Master Unit Location?, Info on location of Unit or DIY Manual? I had to have the Trafficmaster ECU replaced in the end. The voice is different but it works much better integration wise than a loose unit on the dash.

Hi John, I have been reliably informed the CD was very expensive in the UK, and was also told that the same was obtained cheaply from the maker's web site in Holland. Some more research via the excellent Planete Citroen forum based in France has unearthed a very keenly priced update CD from Citroen Auch. I'm waiting for it to arrive. I'll report back. Update instructions are also on the Planete Citroen site, but are in French. On the subject of Sat Nav was a Magnetti Marelli system ever factory fitted to C5s? I'm asking about the Mk1/Ph1 sold up to 2004.
