  1. I've just checked mine, no problems :D
  2. I see Citroen have now released another version of the Berlingo in the UK called the XTR. Its priced £300 cheaper than the Desire, gains aluminium roof bars and rear privacy glass, but loses the CD player, front fogs, Modutop. Its also only available with either version of the 1.6 HDI diesel engines. I haven't seen any photo's of the UK version but IIRC the XTR in elsewhere is a sort of pseudo "Off roader/4x4".
  3. My old Multispace and my wifes Picasso suffered from this, coming from the rear drums, the noise would normally occur at slow speeds. Removing the drums is easy as they are independant of the bearings. Other than cleaning everything up, try using sandpaper on the linings in order to remove the glaze that buikds up.
  4. Eco mode is basically when the electrical system goes into battery saving mode, so when for instance you leave an inetrior light or the radio on, the car battery doesn't get flattened. When eco mode is activated only the exterior lights and engine starting can be done electrically, you will need to start the engine (all be it just for a second or two) to use other electrical facilities.
  5. It acts as the hinge for the drop down compartment that is accessed from the boot.
  6. I'd firstly check that the electrical connections to the temperature sensor on the thermostat housing and water level sensor are sound.
  7. It could be either Moss Green (Light Silvery Green) Forest green (Dark) or Emerald Green (Not quite as dark as Forest green but difficult to tell, also the most popular green) all of these colours are metallic. The easiest way to tell is by way of looking for a three letter painted code on the offside of the bulkhead within the engine bay, normally painted in white on a green one.
  8. It sound very much as if a driveshaft has worn out. The way to test it is to drive slowly in a straight line then apply steering to full lock. If as you steer the noise starts/gets worse then its almost certainly the driveshaft.
  9. 1, Hold the central locking button down for several seconds, then when the car moves off from stationary the doors lock. 2, After turning off the ignition, pull the indicator stalk towards you as if headlamp flashing, they will then stay on for a while before switching off. 3, I'm not sure by what you mean the three positions, my stalks only have two. 4, The wipers are linked to the speed of the car, intermittant delay shortens as car's speed exceeds 55 mph, but then when stationary switches from fast to slow, slow to intermittant. Likewise, the stereo can be "speed linked" to become louder as the car speeds up, press the music sign on the radio and work through the menu. How old is your Berlingo, newer versions have more toys :D
  10. Personally I'd look along the lines for a dodgy connection somewhere. It may simply be a poor earth between the engine to the bodywork, take a careful look at the battery and earthing strap connections. With these more complex electrical systems its all too easy to overlook the obvious, more basic faults. "Get back to basic's that's what I say" <_< On a more serious note, poor connections will cause all manner of wierd faults on modrern cars.
  11. Autolocking is where the car automatically locks itself as soon as its speed exceeds 5 mph. Its enabled by pressing the central locking button for several seconds. It sounds like it may well be useful for you :D
  12. From the sound of it the dome you are talking about would appear to be the fuel filter, I take it its made out of black plastic? The glow plugs attach to the cylinder head, i.e. a silver coloured (aluminium) section above what is more than likely the rusty (iron) engine block. Its quite normal to find extra connectors around the engine bay as the wiring loom is made to fit various applications (different engines + extra equipment) so inevitable there will be a few spare wires/connectors. If you think you have knocked any connectors off then apply common sense and allow the wire/connector to take its "natural path", i.e. If the wire is allowed to hang loose, are there any connections nearby? Are any of them clean (recently disconnected?) etc. If so do they fit and are the wiring connections similar? As far as the ABS light, its more than likely that you have a faulty connection wire. Are you able to uses an OHM meter? If so then let me know and I will give you a way of diagnosing the fault for free. Failing that then if you are not too far from Heathrow then I could plug in my fault code reader and give you a full diagnosis and show you where the glow plugs are :D
  13. No problems with the two I've had.
  14. In extreme cases you will see a visible difference between old/new glowplugs, but in the majority of cases one will just look old with soot on it, the other, new.
  15. The heater or glow plugs (same thing) would be a good place to start. Changing them is just a little more difficult than changing spark plugs due to the connecting wire being attached by nuts rather than push on/pull off. Take a look at the engine and you will see on the front of it, a black wire running left to right attached by small nuts onto the four glowplugs. Behind these nuts are the four glow plugs. Changing three of then will be relatively easy, just use a deep reach socket on each glowplug after removing the small nuts and wire. The tricky one is behind the pump, get hold of what is called an "Offset ring" spanner and it makes the job bearable rather than impossible! A good tip is to hold a magnet near to the small nuts as they are removed as they are prone to dropping off then NEVER ever being seen again :o Buy new glowplugs from either GSF or Euro car parts, make sure you get "Beru" make ones as they last MUCH longer than other cheaper makes, they are also the original part.
  16. The latest on cruise control is that the job couldn't be finished yesterday because apparently a 'sales code' (only available from Citroen UK) is required for the Proxia machine in order to finish the job and Citroen UK did not return from lunch due to the impending Xmas break. The wheese factor with this job is that the chap doing the job inadvertantly pressed a wrong button on the screen and deleted the outside temperature display, so I now have less than I started with :o Never mind, the code will be available in the new year so I'll have to wait until then to get the temperature display and hopefully cruise control working. I'll update when I have more information.
  17. Well I'll find out on Friday when one of two garages who have offered to initialise it has a go at doing it :o
  18. Its a leather wheel as fitted to XTR Berlingo's and more readily in the UK, Picasso's. Ebay can be a wonderful thing! :D If you are looking for one on Ebay, make sure it's the later (more readily available version) with the horn on the wheel itself, as earlier versions of Picasso's had the horn at the end of the indicator stalk and are therefore not compatable. The leather wheel does give the car a more 'substantle feel' due to the thicker rim, however its still a little cold on these frosty mornings, anyone know when Citroen will be releasing a heated version? :o
  19. On a diesel you will have what is basically terminal damage done to the engine due to the high compression ratio. :o As you have nothing to lose you may as well try putting on a new belt to see what happens but I wouldn't hold out much hope for you. The belt breaking may just be the symptom rather than the cause i.e. is the water pump/tensioner/aircon compressor OK? Also, was the belt tensioned correctly? If the car is worth saving a secondhand engine will offer the cheapest solution, particularly if the engine comes out of one that has been crashed, as that would suggest that the engine was working reasonably well until that point. However, it must be said that removing an engine from a Xantia is not the easiest of tasks. I wish you good luck with it.
  20. I fitted the cruise control stalk yesterday but it didn't work, so I'll have to get it initiallised at a workshop with a Lexia or Proxia tool. Also fitted the mobile phone hands free car kit, alloys, mudflaps and leather steering wheel to give it the finishing touch :o Having taken a second look at the rear suspension it must have been the different wheel trims giving the impression that it was sitting higher as it now looks 'normal'.
  21. Thanks, I'll check the brake lights tomorrow. Something I keep looking at and I THINK is different is that the rear of the car sits higher above the rear wheels (bigger clearance). Is it me, or is yours like that Tronboy?
  22. Well I've just picked up my new Bling and first impressions are very good. As Tronboy states the engine is much quieter and more refined, particularly at low speeds where it doesn't appear to suffer from some of the 'transmission shunt' that my 2.0 HDi did at low revs. Power wise, its more sprightly at low speeds and has a much lighter action to the clutch pedal. The whole car feels much more solid and better built with no rattles :D and less 'bump thump' from the suspension over uneven road surfaces, as if the bodyshell is more rigid. The radio display is also improved, when using the wheel on the remote stalk it shows the names of all of the progammed stations at the same time. As far as the roof bars are concerned, they are the same as my previous 04 model being black, not having the polished aluminium bars mentioned on the Citroen.com Frankfurt show site. I took the spare wheel out before it gets stolen and found a sticker dated 14.11.2005 so its not been hanging around for very long. Tomorrow I'll fit a new set of Estoril alloys to it which I've had for a while, I don't think the new wheel trim is as attractive as the older style as they show a lot of the steel wheel behind them. So far then I'm a happy bunny :D
  23. Well Citroen UK did offer to hold the deal but what the stupid dealer did NOT read on Citroens' email is that the car had to be ordered there and then, so just as I went to sign on the dotted line the deal was withdrawn by the dealer. :D Yes I did have a sense of humour failure, particularly as the dealer had requested me to leave my present (P/X) Bling with them whilst awaiting delivery of the new one and had I arranged myself a lift home. The wheeze was that I was then asked for another £450 to do a new deal. Surprisingly enough I declined the not so generous offer.....................and went to another dealer and placed my order there :D Best of all it should be ready for collection next week :o 92 Bhp Hdi Desire Med Blue Aircon. (no ESP as I don't think its worth it).
  24. I've been offered a 92 HDi Desire with metallic for £10415 from the local dealers. Aircon £730 extra. I took a look at a new model earlier today, I must say the rear door opening mechanism is a big improvement. Most rear passengers really struggle to push the release button hard enough on my present Bling. On the new one the catch that keeps the door in the open position is no longer a lever locking on a pin on the bottom runner, its now a 'pinch' catch on the centre guide rail, much easier to close the door. I've decided to go for a new one but can't quite decide whether ESP is worth it at £400. The good news is that Citroen UK is holding the 0% 3 over years +£1500 off until the new car arrives :D
  25. Thanks for that, just like your handbook, the brouchures are are out of date :D
