Think somethin is definitely up with the car to be honest. today accelerating on the motorway it struggled to hit 40 in 2nd gear. foot on floor was going no where. And then just displayed service on the panel. baring in mind i changed just after 6000rpm in 1st i was giving it a little stick so was doing over 30 when I changed up. It took about another minute to hit 40. Usually in that time it'd be up well past the 100 mark.

Think most people would be quite happy with any car. The meg cup or trophy would easily take the others on a track i reckon. But the focus is nicer built. C4 comes in somewhere else being a bit slower but on a track theres not much in it. Think topgear did a test a few years ago with the C4 VTS against the 225, golf gti etc. Was only couple seconds behind the best one. Even though it had the only non turbo engine there and was the only one under 200bhp. There all good cars at the end of the day so whatever you decide your gonna have something fun to drive.

mines going to the dealers again in a couple weeks booked it in today after driving home from bury. Theres a roundabout section thats part of the motorway where i live and coming off it hit the hill to accelerate up car just lost all power service came up and went into limp home mode. Pulled over on side of the hard shoulder turned it off and on and it went away. But it needed booked in anyway so gave me a reason to do it now incase it happens again. Also getting a lot of clutch judder for some reason everytime i take off it does it now. Unless i take off incredibly slow.

I know your a tech but i can say from experiance i have turned mine on when the car is started and also on after the battery was unplugged when the car was just on battery power not actually started. But its set the sutolock both times without problems. Unless one of the newer software updates changes that.

The C4 uses the same engine as the 206 GTi 180 / 307 gti so places that cater for them can sort your C4 out and parts from them will fit the C4. Suspension theres a few kits on the market now. But compared to the focus theres no much. But bolting turbo's onto a C4 is a lot of money and money you wont get back it will devalue the car and cost you a lot in a conversion done properly means replacing most of the internals should not be much less than £10k for a good job of a conversion. Not sure if anyone could supercharge it though that would be a little simpler and cheaper. As superchargers require a lot less parts and no need for new exhaust manifolds etc.

In a few years you will want something better honestly. And you might also be in a better financial situation in future tend not to think about how long a car will last me as a result as i know i will get bored of it. Will either car still thrill you in a few years probably not. The focus though is easier to get extra power form to provide that fun a little longer and will also have a lot more aftermarket parts for suspension etc. But theres many cars in that budget area you can pick up a monaro for around £15k now. Mustangs are going for that for 05's. Can get a corvette for £20k M3's come in around the 15k mark too depending on which model. Can pick up evo's and imprezas in that area as well. And im betting insurance prices arent much different if your looking at running an ST then running an impreza etc wont be much more money. There is the Focus RS due out though sometime in future 4wd 300bhp.

There is the depreciation thing but i keep hearing about how badly those focus's drink fuel. Getting more than 20 miles to the gallon is not common apparently. Which is gonna be bad. Compared to the C4 which will get some decent mpg it gets similar to my 1.6. But the focus is a lot more tuneable but i just think its a very dull car to look at and i cant stand all the chrome around the lights etc.

Clutch you get used to. Typically thing with renaults to be honest the ones i drove including my clio had very harsh clutches and once you get used to that coming to something which is a little softer seems odd. But i dont get any leg ache no more in my C4 like i used to driving the clio so thats a bonus.

Its more than just a screen, Got different headunit, microphone, buttons on steering wheel, be an extra GPS antenna more than likely as well.

Car computer would be cheaper.

Thats why im waiting to see what engines they bring out next. As the next C2 is probably gonna get the 1.6 turbo engine as well. Just a shame theres no 2.0 turbo unit coming to the C4...as far as i am aware.

The turbo on the 225 meg is not that big as a result does not take long to spool up. So you get a lot more mid range torque over the C4 which has to be driven hard to get it to go. Same with most highish tuned small N/A motors though. Depend on which meg your driving some of them come with recaros etc but keep in mind there a few hundred extra usually. Which meg are you driving 225, 225cup? As the cup like the clio 182 has better suspension and tweaks on various other sections dampers springs etc to change the handling gives a much more involved drive and it is fairly quick. 6.5ish to 60 compared to the 8 seconds or so for the C4. But then again it does have 45bhp more and a lot more torque on the meg.

Not illegal but in dark conditions and dull conditions you should use dipped beam not sidelights. i think...i have no idea since rich posted that thing i was told it was illegal.

Mate brother owned a 156 for a while and it was perfectly fine same with Fiats they get the rep of being unreliable its simply not true have had 3 fiats in the past and still have 1 now all been fine. Alfas are good cars and the brera is absolutely stunning if you ask me and so is the GT. Lovely cars would love a go in the brera. And the engine notes from those V6's are so nice. And the engine usually looks like a work of art. Id definitely have one. But im an american car fan if i could afford to restore one and find one. Would have to be a 1970 Dodge Hemi charger. Very difficult to find now though. Plus it'd be hell driving around in something like that now. Hence me looking at newer cars. Mustang is still winning though as its the only one i can afford from brand new. Could not bring myself to spend £60k+ on a new corvette theres better cars to be had where as i can get the stang back fully spec'd up with a few extras for £20k

As I said I have absolutely no idea been that long since I had the standard stereo in my car. And another thing that would be good on the C4 since lee's picture just reminded me the exclusive getting colour coded sidestrips. Its supposed to be the top of the range model it should have them.

Mine does not click in properly no more either and hangs out and comes out on its own occasionally. But it should not have just fallen apart like that. Id speak to the dealers about it and just argue with them to replace it if they say its miss use. Remember when i picked my car up the guy said to me to be careful with them as they were bloody expensive to replace. When he said expensive i was thinking £50 or so. I then asked how much to be told something like £136 and £60+ for the normal key.

I've now also just had to put dire straights on after you saying that sultans of wing :D But as lee said sidelights are illegal technically according to the highway code you should use dipped beam or main beams when it is safe to do so with no danger of blinding other road users. Side lights are not supposed to be used in this country. Even though everyone does. Think car manufacturers however have to keep to it with the auto lights because of the law. Been a while since i used to steering wheel controls but what does the roller do? Im sure it used to cycle radio stations but does it not do tracks? Wasn't there a button you could press then use the roller to scroll through a song list? Could be wrong as its been nearly a year since mine was used.

Well kind of in the shape of a Rough Collie puppy. Decided I wanted another dog so been looking for the last few months to find one. Wanted a specific dog Tri colour bitch same as I had when I was young. Same kind of dog I used to hang on to while i was learning to walk last one we had died when I was 8. So after months of searching for another found someone that had just had a little a few weeks ago. Went to see the pups for the first time today. If you had read any of my post on the handling of the C4 you would see where i state my other cars have all been more fun to drive. The C4 just has more straight line speed and is more comfortable. However im not keeping mine for much longer i dont think as i will be upgrading to something with a fair bit more oomph. And so far the shortlist is. Vauxhall monaro, Chevrolette Corvette and the Roush Mustang. As i want something with some power thats not boring as hell to drive...like most beemers and i wanted something RWD. Yes i dont know everything about cars but im willing to bet i know a fair deal. Or is my mechanical engineering degree that im currently doing which is mainly in automobile engineering teaching me nothing about cars...Hmm might possibly be. The handling on the C4 is alright for what its designed as a comfortable passenger car. Its not great but in its class its not bad. Its not really that much worse than a focus or an astra, megane. And the Sports models of all of these cars are all better. They handle better they have more go, They stop better they feel better to drive with changes in the steering etc. Im interested in others opinions and i only answer things i have an answer to if i dont have a clue or im wrong i will say im wrong. But because i have an opinion im a know it all. Well Thanks. And i hope your new cars boot does not stick.

Could still be a bumper off job only around 5 or 6 bolts hold the bumper on not difficult when theres a couple guys working on it with the right tools can get them off fairly quickly. Although have not got a clue as to what they do lol.
