  1. As my daughter has a Citroen warranty on her 14 reg C4 I advised her to arrange for an interim service so as to maintain the warranty. From the paper work it would seem that what she got for £165 was an oil change and filter plus a list of ticked boxes. One of the ticks together with an "N/A" was given against the spare wheel box. The box for the aerosol of tyre sealant was also ticked. But obviously the boot wasn't even opened. Had it been, the full sized spare wheel we bought as an extra would have been seen. And the aerosol is sitting in her garage.
  2. Have you checked the fuse?
  3. Often thought it would be useful to have but all I've done is fit them to the rear.
  4. I think the gaiter is held with spring steel clips. Prise inwards from each side. Maybe the knob will come away with a turning motion.
  5. If yours is the same as the one fitted in the VTR models then it just pushes downwards against a spring, laying upright at the rear of the box.
  6. It might be that the temperature sensor is playing up. A few years ago I had a Xsara which had the same fault. £8 on a new sensor cured it.
  7. Getting access to the struts is a bit more difficult since they are under the headlining of the car. Read this topic for some help:- http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/14998-replaced-tailgate-gas-struts-on-mk-1-estate-myself/
  8. I once did an oil change in the depths of winter on my Xantia and to cut down on time spent under the car, decided to leave the refitting of the undertray till better weather. When at last I did refit it I found the inner wing liners split and torn because they had been vibrating and thrashing about rather than being held firmly in place by the undertray. So Yes - if a tray was originally fitted, I would want it. Having said that - some models don't have them.
  9. No! That sounds correct. Any other button there abouts?
  10. Did you turn the key just to the first position?
  11. I can't say for sure about the Relay but most Citroens reset by pressing the little knob close to the speedo and whilst holding it in, switch on the ignition and hold till it counts down.
  12. I can't help you other than to point you towards this company:- http://www.clusterrepairsuk.co.uk/repair/model/citroen-c5-instrument-cluster-speedo-mk1
  13. Try and get it tow started. If it starts ok, there's a fault with your starter motor.
  14. Hello & welcome to the forum. You should find the C4 a good choice. My daughter has one which so far has been reliable.
  15. Check to make sure the brake pads are free and not dragging. Check the tyres for any lumps or bumps. Check the front wheel bearings for wear or noise. Try a run with the rear wheels on the front.
  16. No - they couldn't have disconnected the timing belt. The car wouldn't run without it properly timed. Maybe the auxiliary belt. If it was then it might be the alternator pulley giving trouble.
  17. qman hasn't been on the forum for six months so don't hold your breathe awaiting his reply. Have you looked on ebay. They often have 16" Citroen rims. I got a 16" alloy for my last C5
  18. That's good to hear and thanks for reporting back with the outcome.
  19. There shouldn't be any oil in the intercooler although some can leak past worn turbo bearings. The intercooler acts like a scoop in front of the radiator. The colder the air, the more the turbo can force into the cylinders.
  20. Hello & welcome to the forum. Can't help you with your question other than to remind you that any modifications carried out to the car should be notified to your insurance company - who will no doubt take every opportunity to increase what will already be a high premium.
  21. With some luck you may find some was spilt when refilling the sump.
  22. To inspect the underside of the engine you'll have to remove the undertray - assuming it's still fitted. But first I would check the oil filter. Maybe it hasn't been tightened sufficiently or maybe replaced without fitting a new O-ring. To check the filter remove the top cover. It's tucked away under the front of the engine & over the alternator with a 32mm hex shaped top.
  23. Hello & welcome to the forum. I've been running a 2010 C5 tourer for almost a year and before that a 2005 C5 Exclusive estate. You're right about the leaking steering racks, corroding tyre valves and dodgy fuseboxes, but complaints about them seem to be on the earlier cars from 2008. Certainly my vehicle has been OK on that score, although it did have a replacement DMF/clutch just prior to being sold by a main dealer. The salesman was unable to tell me the reason for the change. I use the car to tow my caravan so I stick to the 10000 mile or one year oil & filter change routine.
