  1. Could be a leak on the turbo pipework. Check for splits.
  2. I thought the limits were on the quantity that could be taken through the security gate. No amount of water may be taken through. However, liquids bought in the 'air-side' shops are all allowed on board.
  3. Could be the auxiliary belt or maybe the alternator pulley.
  4. Another problem solved. Well done!
  5. What you say sounds reasonable however, I have a couple of 1ltr cans of LDS and since I don't use it now, I was going to put it on ebay. But then I discovered that none of my usual carriers would collect and deliver it.
  6. If you do it that way it can lead to all sorts of electrical problems. If you go to our "Common faults" page you'll find the correct method printed as Number 16. Find it here:- http://www.citroen-o...s-rev-22122014/
  7. I doubt whether it would pass an MOT because the number of seats wouldn't equal the number of fixed seat belts. Also your insurance underwriter would have concerns about unauthorised modifications.
  8. No! The X comes from the Xantia period when the three or four designs for the Xantia was called Projet X1. When Citroen wanted to replace the Xantia the designs for the replacement, the C5, was given the title Projet X4. When the existing C5 was redesigned, it was just a progression for the design office to call the next car Projet X7.
  9. Although we talk about Mark II C5s starting in late 2004, they weren't given that name by Citroen. They were only known as 'face lift' models. In 2007 when Citroen wanted a new C5, they designed several styles which they called Projet 7, and by 2008, the new Mark II was into production. But it seems whatever Citroen say now, to the man in the street, a MkII is anything from 2004 onwards, and an C5-X7 is a Mark 3.
  10. Maybe you're missing an SD card. Do you have a slot for one below the centre control knob.
  11. On C5s (and probably other Citroens) if the battery is disconnected then reconnected without following the recommended procedure, then all sorts of electrical faults can appear. If you go to our "Common faults" page you'll find the correct method printed as Number 16. Find it here:- http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/20279-common-problems-rev-22122014/ Although your battery wasn't disconnected, it might well be that because it was flat, the BSI thought it was. Also a weak battery can start the electrics having erratic behaviour.
  12. Has the battery been disconnected recently?
  13. Further - if you remove the bumper, take off the covers first otherwise they will break.
  14. They'll be difficult to find. I would register with someone like this:- http://www.breakerlink.com/ Google Online Car Breakers and you'll find some others.
  15. Yes! The replacement covers for the Exclusive models only come in pairs from the dealer and you'll need to buy the matching spray cans as well. Unfortunately, the covers fall off very easily, so don't assume that someone has nicked one. In 2005 I bought a new Exclusive model and within months, I'd lost one. I tried to get it replaced by Citroen but they didn't want to know. After fitting a new one, I passed a small zip tie through the fixings so they wouldn't come off without being cut. As for repairing them - the water pressure forces the stalk out so maybe the rubber tube at the back of it may have a split. To get at it means a bumper removal job.
  16. The roof rails are already fitted on the C5 estates. Do you mean a set of roof bars to fit the rails? If so look no further than here:= http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Maypole-Lockable-Roof-Cross-Bars-for-Citroen-C5-5dr-Estate-04-/150667903260?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Touring_Travel&hash=item231481c11c I've used these ones for the past year and they are top notch. Mod Edit. I've removed your second post so it keeps all answers in the one place.
  17. Maybe it just doesn't have one fitted. My Saxo doesn't have one - just an over-heat warning light.
  18. Hello & welcome to the forum. Your trouble stems from the fact that the bearings on the swinging arms are shot. So now the more weight that is put on the rear of the car, the more the wheels will push in at the top - like /-------\ this. The Xsara that my daughter recently sold also had the same trouble. The solution is either a recon back axle or a swop with one from a breaker, or replacing the bearings in situ. One from a breaker may be as bad as your own. I decided to get a recon from these people...http://sspengineering.co.uk/ They are in Devon but do mail order. For the same cost as delivery, they will also fit it. So I opted for a day out in the country and drove the car to them. They've got all the gear to do the job and I was in and out within three hours, with me watching progress in the workshop. Daughter's o/s wheel was rubbing so badly that before setting off on the 140 journey, I put four washers between the wheel and the brake discs to provide a bit of clearance. Bearing kits are available at around £30 a side, but you need a very comprehensive kit of tools to change them. Also the housings and shafts may also be damaged. If you look on Youtube, there are vids about it.
  19. Hello & welcome to the forum
  20. I would try somewhere like GSF or Eurocarparts.
  21. When I want to try a clutch I put the front wheels up against the curb. Then select first gear with handbrake off and gently raise the clutch pedal. If the clutch is slipping at all you'll soon know from the smell.
  22. On my previous C5 the bight point was very high and a mechanic told me that the clutch was virtually warn out. Two years later I sold the car and the clutch was still pulling my caravan without any signs of slippage.
  23. You're lucky you didn't have a runaway condition.
  24. Congratulations on your purchase. We'll look forward to hearing about it when it arrives.
  25. That's a nice looking Xsara. The same colour as the one I've recently sold for my daughter.
