Just Purchased A C4 Vts - A Few Questions
Johndouglas replied to johnnythomps's topic in C4 - Technical
If you Google "How to fix a C4 glove box handle" you'll find various leads on how to do a mend. -
With my now departed C5 (a 2005 model)I could move the wheels around at will and the system carried on as normal. However if I used the spare - which was a breaker's alloy complete with a sensor, the system threw a tizzy and refused to work for any of the wheels.

So is it punching out 14+ volts when the engine's running?

Broken Rear Washer Pipe On C5 Tourer
Johndouglas replied to buxtonmarauder's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
I've never heard of these pipes breaking at the hinge before. The entire pipework for the rear wiper is in 5 sections. The last two sections have the part number 6439 J4 & 6439 J5. The sheath is 6439 J6. Just a week or so ago there was mention of a Tourer being broken. If you do a search you'll find it. I believe the vehicle was in Lithuania but they post to all parts of the world. -
A Few Questions About Mk3 Tourer - Buying
Johndouglas replied to kaliope's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
And not a bad price. Equivalent of £8900 - mind it's done 62K miles. -
Have you had a code reader on it?

The transponder in my Saxo has occasionally played up over the years, but eventually it became a non-starter. A Citroen dealer ordered me one which cost around a tenner. It took less than an hour to swop over.

09 Tourer Rear Hatch-Lights Not Working
Johndouglas replied to Norwear's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
That is indeed unusual for all the bulbs to blow at once. Maybe something happened to cause them all to go. But happy for you that the problem is sorted. -
Help Needed With Smartnav & Missing Usb Port
Johndouglas replied to relentless82's topic in Relay - Technical
Oh yes! There's the 16 pin connector behind the rubber cover but that's all - other than that ever-so-useful cup holder. In the glove box there's the pin connectors for the MP3. -
Before condemning the alternator, check all the connections.
-
When you did the BSI reset did you hold the lock button down for a while?
-
Have you checked the output of the alternator when the engine is running. It should be giving around 14.7 volts.

09 Tourer Rear Hatch-Lights Not Working
Johndouglas replied to Norwear's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
Check for blown fuses first, then check the multi-plugs on the rear of the light fittings. You can get to them behind the small pull-out panels. Also see if there's any voltage when the lights are switched on. Sometimes where the wiring passes through the convoluted rubber tube between the car body and the rear door the wiring can get broken. -
Help Needed With Smartnav & Missing Usb Port

Hello & welcome to the forum. Just because a feature is mentioned in the handbook it doesn't necessarily follow that your particular car will have it. Like many manufacturers, Citroen produces a handbook which covers every level in the range. The USB socket is mentioned in my C5-X7's handbook, however my car doesn't have one. Neither does it have the xenon headlights which are also shown in the book. -
VIN is the vehicle identification number which is allocated to every vehicle. It will be on your V5 and also stamped into the bodywork of the car. Maybe along the top edge of the engine bay after you've lifted the bonnet. On later vehicles it can be seen along the lower edge of the windscreen. You're looking for a 17 digit combination of letters and figures and being a Citroen will begin with VF7. You're right - I should have written www.service-citroen.com
-
Join www.service.citroen.com then you can enter your VIN and find out all about your particular car. Also you will see all the parts with their Citroen part numbers. Enrol as another professional and member of Citroen Owners Club.

Tyres For C5 Mk3 Tourer 160
Johndouglas replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
You're probably right - but were you to make an insurance claim which included huge personal injury, your insurers could argue that you had contributed to the accident by modifying the tyre specification. -
Tyres For C5 Mk3 Tourer 160
Johndouglas replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
The recommended tyres are 225/55x17 97W. However many tyre makers now make their W speed rated tyre with a 101 load rating, whilst the 97 tyres are only V speed rated. Question is - from a legal point of view, is it better to go with the correct load rating or the correct speed rating. -
Unable To Set Dual Climate Control, Drivers Side!

No - the radio is coded to the car. But if you disconnect the battery you must follow the correct procedure for reconnecting it. -
Tyres For C5 Mk3 Tourer 160
Johndouglas replied to Sixchannel's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
My C5 is the twin to yours - 2010 VTR+NAV Tourer. I've just had replacements put on mine. The old ones still had quite a bit of mileage left in them but I'm taking it across to Spain for a few months in a couple of weeks and I don't want to have to worry about replacements when I'm there. They are hugely expensive with very little choice. What I've put on my car are Nexen N6000. I've used them on my previous C5 and also on the Xsara we had. On both cars they did very well. In the label ratings they get a C for economy; a C for grip and 73db for road noise. In the AutoExpress tyre test for 2012, Nexen took 3rd overall place. I also find they give a service life a bit longer than other makes I've used. And at £74.51 per corner they are reasonably priced considering the size. -
I have a spare Delphi-Citroen one sitting on the garage shelf and that's 8mm connectors - but can't you measure your old one.

I've heard reports from guys that have blanked off the EGR that their EML has come on. Others have had no trouble after doing it. However as the rules now stand, any modification to the emissions system renders the car illegal. See this notice issued to MOT stations:- "A vehicle might still pass the MoT visible smoke emissions test whilst emitting illegal and harmful levels of fine exhaust particulate. It is an offence under the Road vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations (Regulation 61a(3))1 to use a vehicle which has been modified in such a way that it no longer complies with the air pollutant emissions standards it was designed to meet, making the vehicle illegal for road use." If your vehicle is deemed to be "illegal for road use" then it follows that your insurance policy will be void.
