  1. Monroe shockabsorbers have a good reputation. Shop around and you should find them for less than £40 each. New nuts are recommended when fitting them.
  2. I would guess that since it's a Citroen, the fluid that would be used at the factory would be Total Fluide ATX
  3. Any Dexron type 11 ATF fluid would do.
  4. Hello & welcome to the forum
  5. I expect you know that the accelerator pedal doesn't connect to the fuel pump as in times of old. It goes to a sensor positioned below and behind the battery. It's often possible that slack can be taken up there.
  6. Have you checked the level of the LDS? It may need topping up. Regarding the tyre - they can often get slow air loss. Can be anything from a nail in the tread, leakage because of rim damage or even a leaking valve. Other than changing the valve, the sensors can't be serviced.
  7. Try Ebay. Give as full a description as is possible with several photographs. Fix a low starting bid but put a reserve price on it which is acceptable to you. Also attach a notice that the car is advertised elsewhere and that the auction may be terminated early.
  8. What voltage is showing at the battery terminals?
  9. Yes - I had my doubts that it was a dual mass pulley that was fitted. So has yours four bolts or just one holding the pulley.
  10. Is it a dual mass pulley ie: is it an inner and outer disc bonded together with a ring of rubber? The pulleys on the HDI engine are like that and over time the rubber gets tired and eventually falls apart.
  11. Hello & welcome
  12. The new-to-me C5 I bought almost a year ago still has another year of Citroen warranty to run on it. In view of that I thought it best to get a service done at a Citroen dealer. My local Citroen insisted it needed a "Level Two Service" whereas I thought it was due for an intermediate one - assuming the full service is every two years. However I went along with them. From the paper work it seems I got new engine oil & filter, new air filter and a fuel filter. Everything else consisted of a tick list, much of which would have been checked only a few days earlier when the car had its MOT. One item on the check list was a "Pollen filter check" which was marked as "needing attention". Surely a pollen filter can only be checked by removing it, and if it's dirty, a phone call would have got my ok to replace it. For what I paid I don't feel that I've had value for money. Next year will be DIY. On a more happy note, I took my old, faithful Saxo in for MOT this morning. At seventeen years old, not only did it pass but it got a fast smoke test with only 0.14. In two weeks time the equally old Pug306 is due.
  13. I'm pretty sure there's no law against cleaning your particle filter - other than not allowing the foul water to contaminate the drains. Yes, I've also heard of oven cleaner being used.
  14. Yes - several guys on the forum have taken them off and cleaned them with a jet wash. I believe it also helps to give them a soak with an alkaline solution first.
  15. A new clutch and a change of cambelt will cost you much less than buying another car that you'll know nothing about. 2 ltr C5 engines will run for ever if they are looked after.
  16. What's its problem that makes it terminal?
  17. I don't think we know what age your C5 is. Just in case it's an X7, did you know that leaking steering racks is a fairly common problem. Read the saga here:- http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/20872-power-steering-leaking-fluid/?hl=%2Bsteering+%2Brack+%2Bleak
  18. Right - the full panel comes off in one piece. Pauls instructions is the way to do it.
  19. Hello & welcome to the forum. And welcome to another caravanner as well. On the 2008 to present day C5 estates the complete rear bumper needs to be removed. Unlike the Mk1s and the facelift models where the towbar could be fitted by just removing the lower bumper panel.
  20. And probably the headlining too. To splice in a new piece of wire is much the easier option. The plastic trim removes easily from the side of the door and the rear of the headling, once released from the rubber moulding around the opening, will just pull down from its clips. I used a piece of plastic coated curtain wire to pull the wire through the rubber sleeve.
  21. The glow plugs are on the back of the engine and the relay is in the plastic electric box on the left hand side of the engine compartment. Glow plugs aren't normally required unless the temperature is very low.
  22. Hi John - can you just plug these LED bulbs into the holder or do you have to worry about polarity? They'll only go in one way because they have staggered pins. Not staggered like a 5/21watt rear/brake light bulb, but looking at it end on, the pins are at 10o'clock and two o'clock.
  23. Ah yes! I know it. I drove up to El Torcal a few weeks ago.
  24. Hello & welcome to the forum. What part of Spain are you in?
  25. I think you'll find that a Haynes manual hasn't been published for your car. You may find there's some help on the Citroen Service box discs. Look for them on Ebay. Your topic title has been corrected.
