  1. Seefive makes a good point. Citroen have made changes to the latest C5s - changes which in my opinion are not improvements. Not many of them now come with the unique Citroen suspension, but if you are going for an Exclusive, you will get it. Also they no longer fit xenon lights to any of the range unless it is added as a very expensive option. With my 2005 model I got them and they are superb.
  2. There are different types of antifreeze and some of them don't mix well with others. If it were my car I would drain off the old stuff, flush it through and refill. Some makes should be renewed every two years; others every five years. I wonder why the level should be low. Ideally the level shouldn't fall.
  3. If you had factory fitted xenons you wouldn't need any beam benders or masks for EU driving. I have a letter from Citroen UK telling me so and I carry it with me when I go abroad. I don't know what the position is with aftermarket xenons other than they might be breaking the law in this country. For xenons to be legal, they need to be self-leveling and they also need to have permanent washers fitted. With your C5 suspension you will be OK on the first point but maybe not on the second.
  4. Well if you're looking for comfort, the Exclusive C5 is hard to beat. I've regularly driven mine 1400 miles over a two day period without any feeling of weariness. Which is more than can be said for my previous SX Xantia. The Xantia's seating IMHO was one of its poorer features. I've had my C5 for five years now having covered 65000 miles and all its needed are the usual service items. MOTs are passed without trouble.

    Ecu

I've heard several times recently about how a jump start can goose the ecu, but over the past five years I've jump started my C5 quite a few times, all without causing any trouble. So I don't know!
  6. Offside should wind anticlockwise; nearside clockwise. They wind and push at the same time.
  7. Too late now - but I always give them a sharp smack, end on with a flat hammer before attempting to turn. Unless the nipple has been turned off it's seating, it can't leak. Maybe drive to an engineering workshop (with a new nipple to hand) and get them to remove it.
  8. Has the electrical connector been replaced correctly? Maybe the system was bled insufficiently. You may have an airlock.
  9. Hi! Yes, it's three years ago that we had this trouble on the Xsara Hdi. I decided to get a replacement sender from the local agent - as Mart said, it cost £9. Not too difficult to change. A few bits of pipe work to remove, a U-shaped clip to pull out, and the sender just pulls out. There's a loss of coolant which needs replacing and bleeding, but since changing it, there's been no further trouble.
  10. PSA is the name of the group which owns both Peugeot and Citroen factories throughout the world. It stems from the original name Société des Automobiles Peugeot.
  11. Haynes do a manual for the Berlingo but it only covers up to 2005. Number 4281. It maybe won't have the 1.6Hdi in it but you'll be able to find the same engine in other manuals - C4 or even the C5. Whether or not to change the water pump depends on how many miles it's done since the last belt change, but it's not too much extra work to swop and at around 25quid it's maybe worth doing. About the gearbox oil - I don't think there's a change listed for the manual box - only a level check and topup.
  12. Fuel gauges are unreliable. I've had them where I've been able to do 100 miles without the pointer hardly moving from full. The only way is to brim the tank, drive for a number of miles then brim again. As far as the PSA HDI goes, I find it's at it's worst in stop/go town traffic, but get it on the open road with a reasonably light foot, and its fuel consumption is brilliant. Mine can achieve 50mpg.
  13. Sounds like a problem with the comms 2000 unit.
  14. Autodata still have it at 100K or ten years - but at 80K in adverse conditions. If it were mine at 93K, I would be getting worried.
  15. Since this trouble started after replacing front pads I would check the sensor wiring for any damage before spending out. Also check any connectors in the wiring, pulling them apart and reconnecting. If you have a meter you could test the resistances of the sensors. They should each be around 1000-1500.
  16. This is the guy to try:- http://agua.nu/ds-files/tony-jackson/red-cd/Parts%20Suppliers%20etc/Pleiades.pdf
  17. I've connected on to my rear lights using Scotchloks on my C5 although I wired them into a Smart7 relay. They've been done down for 5 years without any trouble. You've got to have an indicator beeper when towing - or a dashboard light - by law.
  18. Yes - let the garage know. Faults quite often go away after the ignition has been turned off - only to reappear on the next run.
  19. Hi and welcome.
  20. I don't see why not. Myself, I use Millers Sport4 on all our vehicles.
  21. That is the filler/level plug. The drain plug is on the bottom of the box.
  22. If its the BE3 gearbox you've got, the level/filler plug is in the end plate of the box at about 4 o'clock. The hex is slightly bigger than the other bolts. You'll need to take off the o/s wheel and remove the liner.
  23. Depends how bad it is. If it lets ago it could do a lot of damage.
  24. Mine is the same. Works fine stuck to the corner of the windscreen.
  25. It's been a Citroen thing for a lot of years to use letter groups to identify different levels of trim. During the 80's AXs used TZX; RD and TRD. In the 90's BXs used RD; TGD; TZD and TRD --- but UK models were rebranded DTR (They thought TRD looked too much like TuRD) Xantias and XMs followed the same pattern.
