  1. MY C5 went through a period of the rear end dropping slightly after being parked for a couple of days. Before I really had time to worry about it, it stopped doing it and it's been OK for the past year.
  2. What's best Steve - paracetamol or viagra? :)
  3. Nor have I and I've owned and been driving diesel vehicles for over 25 years. But apparently it is a common occurance with diesel fuel, caused by microbial contamination where fuel has been in storage for too long. It seems if diesel is allowed to stand with just a small amount of water in it, bacteria begins to grow forming this jelly-like substance. Probably once you get a small amount of contaminated fuel into your tank, the problem continues to increase. There's plenty on the 'net about it.
  4. This question has been on the forum before, and I think it was one of the 'professional' members who said it wasn't possible to disable the alarm. But........ I noticed when I was driving alone, I placed a heavy package on the passenger seat and when I drove off the seatbelt alarm started. Immediately I moved the package to the floor, the alarm stopped. Obviously there must be a sensor within the seat and it's got to have a connector which could be disconnected. But why bother!!!
  5. With little to go on things that spring to mind are: Bottom engine mount sloppy. Damaged front tyre. Tracking needs adjustment.
  6. Maybe you're not supposed to remove it. Maybe they are similar to these:- http://www.trwaftermarket.com/en/Products/Braking/Brake-Discs/ But if you're worried about the new pads, I suppose you could run with the old ones in for a few days.
  7. You must have given them some weird and wonderful specifications in your order to take that long. If you take a drive around the Calais area you can see acres of newly built Citroens awaiting shipping orders.
  8. Is it maybe a peel-off plastic cover.
  9. It will be interesting to hear if it hastens the time when you'll need to renew the DMF and clutch.
  10. During the past few months I've replaced the rear box on two of our cars. On both old silencers the hangers were substantially welded and weren't likely to come away from the silencer. Rear boxes are supposed to be free to move because between the two or three hangers welded to the box, there are heavy-duty rubber blocks holding everything to the underside of the car. Usually, it's the rubber blocks which disintegrate rather than the hangers. Also it's normal to be able to take hold of the tail pipe and move it from side to side. If it's a worry to you let Kwikfit or similar look at it.
  11. You might try:- http://www.tinsnail.co.uk/ They are based in Worthing and are experts in 2CVs.
  12. With rubber valves the fitter cuts off the base, yanks it out and chucks it away, then fits a new rubber valve. On our cars with metal valves and sensors, the fitter screws out the innards from the valve and fits another insert into your existing valve body.
  13. Brilliant! I wonder if yours is the highest mileage C5. Anybody got one higher?
  14. There shouldn't be - if the fitter knows what he's doing. I've had three new sets of tyres on my C5 and there's never been a problem.
  15. Does it actually lose air? If so, it may be that you have a nail in the tread or maybe it's leaking through the valve, in which case a new Schrader valve insert will stop it. The system can be deactivated by using a Lexia. If the sensor fails, a new sensor can be bought online, but then after fitting, an exciter has to be used on it, and then the Lexia to programme it to the car.
  16. What year is that? How many are yours?
  17. Having lived with BXs, Xantias and C5s for over twenty years I know what b******* the caliper bolts can be to get out when it becomes necessary to remove the corrosion between caliper and arm. When I got my present C5 new in 2005 one of the first jobs I did was to remove each caliper bolt in turn, clean it up, grease it and replace. I repeat it every couple of years and I haven't found any tendency for the bolts to loosen over time. Two years ago squealing on the rear brakes became embarrassing but a check showed no distortion between arms and calipers, however a cleanout of dust and a change of pads cured the squeal.
  18. Can't help you but I know the feeling. I did the same thing but with a roof box on top. However the roofbox was able to absorb the impact without further damage. Only needed a new roofbox!
  19. Bogz2000 --- Did you get my reply? The site seemed to crash when I sent. Post if you didn't.
  20. Maybe you need to change the filter.
  21. Years ago when I had a BX I got my spheres recharged at a local Indy Cit garage. Once the valve was fitted, future recharges were almost free. But then the guy started charging £15 for a recharge. At the time I could get new replacement spheres from GSF for 20 quid so no more recharging.
  22. Looking at the diagram, 4886v5 isn't the flexible hose, it's a pipe 4.75mm diameter and about 2feet long.
  23. Sign up on this forum - there's guys that know Xantias inside out:- http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/index.php
  24. Did you press the lock button for more than 10 seconds?
  25. Yes - you will be OK driving your English reg Xsara Pic in Spain with deflectors. For many years I drove a Xantia there using beam deflectors and never had any bother. But then you say you want to put it on Spanish plates. To do that you'll have to submit the car for ITV and I don't think they'll pass it with beam benders on the headlights. I know one or two guys driving RHD cars in Spain which now carry local plates so the problem must be fairly easily overcome.
