Agreed, however it's not the problem in this case. The problem with the RT3 is it doesn't understand the difference between decoded and encoded TMC broadcasts. It only has a license to decode TrafficMaster, not iTMC. So thus, as it locks on to Classic FM broadcasting iTMC, it thinks it has a valid TMC signal and doesn't move on - it doesn't realise it has not been decoded because it doesn't have a license for it. Allegedly the problem has been fixed in the RT4, since it allows you to exclude stations from the TMC list - however I have yet to see it to confirm - will have a chat with my friend from Magneti Marelli when I can and re-post.

Hi Ben! Checkout Welshy's link to the Eurovan forums - they explain how to create POIs, however it is not possible to make it alert/make a noise near them. Original CDs are only from the dealer now - don't know why they told you to look at the Siemens VDO site, since the RT3 is made by Magneti Marelli, not Siemens. You used to be able to get the new NavTeq CDs straight from them, however this was changed last year. The new original CD does work with TMC - check out the "TrafficMaster" logo in the bottom right hand corner of the DVD case before you purchase. Cheers!

Hi!! The slow address search isn't to do with the power of the RT3 - in fact, for the functions it performs, it is quite powerful - but the latest maps, pre-release or full, do not work well. You can expect a delay of up to 10 minutes to enter an address. Citroen are allegedly aware of the issue, but as yet there is no fix. I have performed extensive tests on the new CD as it drives me mad, and there doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason for it. The speed camera database is not offered. There are some websites where you can download and add POIs to the database e.g. speed cameras so I would imagine that's where you got that from. Latest UK version is 1st Quarter 2007 I think. Regards TMC, yes PSA have now signed a deal with TrafficMaster, not iTMC. This means that the latest CDs can receive TMC from TrafficMaster enabled stations. This includes, but is not limited to, Chrysalis Radio. Classic FM will definitely not work, this is the main provider for iTMC, which PSA do not have a license to use. You will, sadly, find that the RT3 locks onto Classic FM since it is the (pretty much) most widely broadcast channel for coverage. However, the RT3 is not clever enough to realise it doesn't have the codes to decode the TMC data, so it just sits there, receiving nothing. This is why sometimes you get in the car and get traffic info straight away (i.e. it's found a TrafficMaster station) and others you don't get the info till you get where you're going (i.e. it's found Classic). If you want traffic info desperately, move the RT3's traffic manually onto a Chrysalis station (Go to navigation, traffic information, filter, "TMC Station" - search). The RT3 is a great unit, RT4 is better though - wish that had been out when I bought my car! Hope this gives you a bit of insight - please feel free to ask more if you want, we're a pretty friendly lot here :)

I know this is a little random...but in the true spirit of our forum.....I'm sure this isn't the first guy now who's said their JBL doesn't seem to give them much ooomph - and you remember I read out those settings off my RT3 concerning stuff like the sub etc, which you don't seem to have if you don't have the Navi Kit....just a thought.....wonder if some parts of the RD4 radio don't work with all the JBL kit...or something?
-
hehe yep! Remember when I first drove off with the car, had to get it home with air con blasting hot on a blazing summer's day with some crappy radio station in....was too scared to press anything ;)

Cheers for that KFK, will mention it when it goes in. And as for the french knickers mate, I don't need to worry - Mrs lee_marshuk has a 6th sense for any other female's items being in close proximity to me. If she senses anything, she burns it, followed by scratching the eyes out of the owner, and then killing me slowly, very slowly, and very painfully

Yeah I remember you saying that Welshy, I tried it too, but sadly nothing the motor seems completely dead. It's a bzzz bzzz, a bit like a bzzzzzzzing bzzzzzzy thing, but without the prolonged bzzzzz  I've often wondered about the building faults thing!! Maybe they sign them as well, see if they get to fix their own faults or someone elses :P

Just thought I'd let you all know my next booking in at the dealership!! 1:- The boot has stopped opening now. Dead as a doornail. For a while it was malfunctioning in as much as it would open, then constantly you'd hear the little electric motor try and open (bzzz, bzzz etc) - but the car wouldn't think the boot was open, if you see what I mean. For example, you know how if you open the car with the remote, it locks automatically if you don't open the boot/car doors within x seconds? It would lock with the boot open because it didn't know I'd opened it. The boot light stopped working. A replacement boot switch and sensor here apparently. 2:- The passenger footwell kept having a fairly significant amount of clear liquid being dumped in it, significant enough to sodden the bottom of people's feet - apparently I have to have the entire dash removed to repair a leaking joint in the heating system. Another 3 days of work!!! - At least the warranty is there, and I do still love the car, however I can't help wondering it Citroen made a net profit on the sale of my car, after all the faults I've had with it!!

*Whistles, innocently* Well, you got there, the same place I was going, at around the same time, what more do you want???? ....and to be fair you were the one wanting to see me open it up and see what it could do! #Amendment Did not do 90, Wozza really means 70. I don't exceed national speed limits nor do I condone those who do.
-
Despite one or two slurs from untrustworthy sources (*read* Stuey & Wozza) about the state of my driving, with my sedate manner of ambling slowly around I'm pleased to say I'm now getting around 500 miles out of a tank, with a ratio of about 75% motorway/high speed 25% town at the moment.
-
Fantastic glad to hear it's looking good...and mmmm shiny!!
-
Yep, mine was replaced under warranty!! And they only come on when the rear screen demister is activated.
-
It is, you're right.
-
Yeah indeed, especially as the carriageway is a tunnel round a bend and then...woomph the dealership exit!
-
Bah, sad t w * t s clearly have nothing better to do with their lives! Gutted for you mate!
-
Just as a thought, how does the RT3 connect to the JBL amp?
-
I've said it before....but had there been a 2.7 Diesel or 3.0 Petrol in the C4, I'd have bought it.

1st Disappointment With Citroen & Navidrive (rt3)
lee_marshuk replied to lee_marshuk's topic in C4 - Technical
From a guy I know who used to work at Navteq, however I believe that the C4 Picasso comes shipped as standard with the TMC enabled CD, so it should be available. Trick is to look at the CD - if it has a TrafficMaster logo on it (also on the case) then it has TMC information. Good luck! -
Ha ha!! Yes that was their response too. Weird that I've never noticed it before, but nevertheless apparently normal!
-
oooo you have just answered my question. Mine does that too, I'd booked it in as a fault. It's weird, it even does it in cruise control (i.e. your speed at 40, you set cruise at 70, press unpause and let the car accelerate).

Got a conference mate, computer stuff etc love your neck of the woods actually!
-
ive had a couple of "automatic headlamp adjustment system failures" - but for me it has always been cured by leaving the engine off for half an hour. As far as I'm aware, this can happen if the swivelling lights get stuck, or if water gets in the unit or any other kind of object...
-
You're absolutely right, of course. Although I'm down in your neck of the woods in a fortnight, C4VTS!

Had no idea you were in my neck of the woods, C4VTS!
