ABS fault

Software updates can only be installed if an update is available....the only way of finding this out is to plug the car into a diagnostic computer which is linked to the internet.....this in turn compares software of the computer your checking on the car with software on the Citroen Server.....if an update is available it will allow you to download it......if no download available it advises the technician accordingly. It is extremely rare that we as dealers are told what the software updates are designed to cure.....all we know is that where an update is available its always a good idea to update it before replacing/condemning components......especially as the component you subsequently order may also be behind in its software version. So...if a fix is available you get the option to download it, you cant uninstall it, nor are you able to find out what it fixes......in some instances it can do away with functions you had previously become used to and liked, in other instances it might give you new functions. As to your Spanner symbol.....i would have considered that the fault was more likely to be within the BSI software as this is the computer that decides the frequency of service interval.

C2 Aftermarket Cd Player Problems
kfk replied to Dalecardiffman's topic in I.C.E (In Car Entertainment) Discussion
The reason its doing this is because it hasnt been installed correctly.....nothing to do with the head unit.....i would ask your local citroen dealer how much to install it correctly and then ask halfords if they would be prepared to accept the charges -

are you recommending the he purchases a warranty and then makes a claim against it for repairs?........if this is what your saying i think you will find this is fraud.

so what size tyres are now on it? and what have you taken off?

The remote control on a ZX is ordered in accordance with a code number on the reciever in the vehicle.......you cannot get any ZX key and program it to the vehicle, and neither will your dealer be able to do it.
-
....sowhere are they rubbing.....without knowing that it would be difficult to give any advice other than to fit the correct size wheels.
-
it isnt specific to citroen........worth a visit to halfords or your local petrol staion may have a selection of fuses........best thing is remove fuse 14 and look through the clear plastic to see if the fuse is broken.....then take it in to compare it for size......most car accessorie places should be able to help you if you put it on the counter and say ' i want one of these.......does it look blown to you'? Dont swap fuses around in the fuse box as all of them are needed for something and could cause you bigger problems if you get them back in the wrong places
-
either you or someone handy might want to check the fuse box in the engine compartment.....will be found next to the battery......think its fuse 14.....and if it has blown, its probably caused by the screen washer pump freezing......so go get some screen wash additive to reduce the chance of it happening again.....let us know how you get on.....Merry Xmas

why is it going to need the relay replaced?....have you checked the glowplugs yet.....one defective glow plug will stop it working.......if you remove the load from it it also stops working. More likley a glow plug than the relay.

i fear all your doing delaying the replacement of particle filter ......you have already answered your questions with previous posts. If you think the sensors is faulty book it in with a dealer and get it confirmed......if you were right you will have saved the cost of the particle filter and hopefully have it fixed. If your wrong and your told you need a particle filter, you will have saved the cost of the sensor and know where to go next. Believe me, if there was a cheap answer to this i'd be sharing it with you.

If you have the heater on and heated rear window switched on.....to name but a couple of things the stop start function will not function......with all the c3 range those functions only work when the engine is running.....and on stop start it would have safety implications ......from memory i seem to remember the engine has tobe a certain temperature, the the battery has tobe in good condition.......and the battery under the passenger seat alsohas to be functioning correctly.....anyone checked that one?

And my opinion on resetting the ECU......it seems to me that the longer the owner drives trying to avoid replacing the eolys/particle filter the greater the chance that the computer cant be reset and needs replacing, not to mention the posibility of sensor failure within the tank (corrosion of the sensor due to lack of fluid covering?) -
i would have thought in this day and age that we would have been using self supporting run flat technology by now......but i would guess that the cost of this would have been passed onto the customer and thus increasing the cost of the vehicle.....and it still it wouldnt have had a spare. Still no facility to fit a spare wheel carrier is the privilige of having air suspension...you cant have both......however with the coil spring setup you can atleast get a space saver and retro fit a carrier.
-
the only problem you have with this is you wont be checking and adjusting the belt tension. So whilst you have managed to fit the belt in a reasonably trouble free manner you cannot gaurantee how long the belt will last before it bcomes slack and jumps a tooth.......nor can you say how long the waterpump will last if the belt is too tight. By all ,means use this method to get you self out of trouble, but i wouldnt recommend it if you expect your belt to last another 72,000 miles. Paying to have a cambelt replaced properly is cheaper than cost of replacing a cylinder head if you get it wrong.

SORRY.....MEANT TO SAY UNPLUG THE KEYPAD
-
1st off you need to get a decode done to establish the reason why the message has come up........more then one thing will cause that message.
-
start the car, unplug the imobilizer, throw it away (or just leave it there unplugged)......car will now start without needing a code every time you use it. Word of warning: if you are going to disconnect your keypad, put a sticker on the underside of it, or on the engine ecu to indicate what the code was before you disconnected it.......because one day you or someone else will plug it back in......and it will lock.....you wont know the code and you will need to buy a new injection ecu.....which will effectively render the vehicle as scrap.

worth looking through these posts here

have you got the correct pads?
-
Check battery connections are secure Make sure the earth on the gearbox is secure try connecting a jump lead from the battery negative terminal to the engine - if the car starts suspect the negative battery lead. Check for voltage on the small wire to the starter motor......voltage should be there when cranking Check for voltage at the large lead on the starter motor let us know what you find next......

Give us clue time.........is it petrol or diesel....what engine size? when it doesnt start does the engine just turn over and over or do you just get a clicking noise? Have you put fuel in it during the last 2 weeks or was the last time you put fuel in 2 weeks ago?..........did you put the correct fuel in it?.......go have a sniff of the fuel. Do you get an orange 'key' symbol on the dash or does it go out when the ignition is left in engine running position?
-
Could be either of your suggestions in the last sentence........could also be a one off blip that isnt worth loosing too much sleep over........after all to try and fix it you now have to work out what to do to recreate it! Also, i wouldnt start removing the fuel tank sender to have a look on the off chance of seeing a fault.......chances are you will have trouble getting the locking ring back on that holds the gauge in place, for some inexplicable reason undoing the ring allows the tank thread to become oval.......so only remove the tank unit if you know you have a fault.....oh and make it an empty tank as it reduces the weight in it which minimises the chance of the aperture going oval.
