  1. The best way is to contact your local dealer with your chassis number and get them to check Citroens Database. They will be able to advise of any outstanding and carry them out free of charge for you.
  2. do you know if the vehicle has had a windscreen fitted recently?.....its not unusual for a screen if replaced to leak from the drivers side top corner, and run down under the dash to drip all over the main computer which is above pedal assy. If the screen is leaking you need to get it fixed and probably replace the BSI (main computer) it is unlikely this will dry out and work properly again.
  3. You have to remember that the only time people will take the time to put pen to paper.....or finger to keyboard, is when they have a problem. There are a lot of people out there that are happy with there Citroens, whether it be a C3, C4 or the rest of the range there will always be a small percentage that arn't. If you were to find a forum dealing with Ford, Vauxhall, Toyota, Honda.....or any other manufacturer you can think of, you will find owners that are unhappy.....unfortunately, the internet whilst providing some very usefull information is also excellent at spreading rumour and gossip. I'm sure there will be someone pass by with a C3 shortly and tell you what a wonderfull car they are, and then there will be someone who says rubbish! Working for a dealer i find the most common problem to be the nut behind the steering wheel, i'm pleased to say it isnt restricted to Citroen!
  4. I would recomend your local Citroen dealer, give them your chassis number and tell them what you want, if they havent got them they should be able to get them in 24 hours for you. Click here for your nearest UK Dealer
  5. The 'K' light, otherwise known as the engine management light (EML). Will come on as a test for the bulb and also do a test on the system, assuming the engine management system is running correctly it will go out after a few seconds. Should it come on while driving it means you have a problem that needs attention.
  6. I think i would still be checking the BSI....might be worh disconnecting And reconnecting the battery first. Thn check fuses around BSI, then unplug the BSI connector at a time checking for water in the connectors........after that it will be book it in with your local dealer i'm afraid.
  7. For radio connections take a look here

  9. Have you seen the message that tells us not to drive them yet?
  10. Our technicians dont know who bought the car in, they dont meet the customer unless theres a problem they need to discuss. As for failure items, its suprising how many people dont check lights or tyres before they take the car for the MOT or argue that there exhaust isnt noisy and the multicoloured flashing LED side lights are legal, not to mention that fitting a reflector to the rear of the vehicle would ruin the style of there passion wagon!.........they also book it in for an MOT appointment and turn up late....they then complain that you didnt stand around waiting for them and spit there dummies out that they will have to wait till the one on the ramp is finished.
  11. Welcome Greedy.......i'm here aswell
  12. Economy mode will appear if the ignition has been on for a period of time without the engine running. Starting the car will cause the alternator to start charging and the message dissapears.........however, if you cant start it the question might be....is the battery too flat to crank the engine and provide 12volts to the various computers. My first thought would be close all doors......lock and un lock, try to start it......if that fails checke the battery charge.
  13. This isnt relevant to this thread as it doesnt affect diesel models.
  14. Doesnt matter which button you press, but it wont work if the remote control is the key turning the ignition on! Assuming you have 1 remote key and one ordinary key: - turn ignition on - within 10 seconds press the remote control button whilst holding it close to black plastic dome in the headlining by the mirror. Assuming all is working ok the remote control should be programed. - if you need to program a second key you need to press the button of the 2nd remote within 10 seconds of the 1st and also hold it against the black dome. In the event you only have one key......you will need to dismantle the remote control and hold the 'guts' of the remote against the black dome. As you have already identified, the clear led transmitter has become un soldered i would re-do that first. 2nd thing to check is the solder joints of the buttons........for some unknown reason the human brain of most motorists doesnt comprehend that when the battery goes flat the remote wont work......the brains reaction to this is 'push like Fv There are 3 types of xantia remote.....the later one doesnt have the clear led emmiter and wont program using this method. The early type with clear led emitter comes in single and double button format.....only the double button one programs this way The early single button one needs to be ordered to code, and from memory is only available with reciever.
  15. doesnt sound a bad price......but i'd get your ABS sensor looked at before MOT time
  16. The ABS light on could be a major problem, or maybe something a little cheaper. Hopefully its something simple like an abs sensor playing up, in which case a diagnostic check should identify this. However, it isnt unnusual for ABS computers to go faulty....either way, first stop is get a diagnostic check carried out. Regarding the cambelt, if you have no record of it being done i suggest you better be safe than sorry......after you find out about the ABS!
  17. Maybe you should have read the post a bit more carefully, it doesnt pay to take the piss or make fun! If your having a standard unit replaced with another standard unit it wont affect any of the controls. If however you are replacing the standard unit with and aftermarket alternative you will find that the button to operate the computer display is likely to dissapear with it. in this instance to change the clock you would have to plug your old radio back in. So whilst you will be able to improve your audio pleasure, unfortunately some of the controls will be lost in the process.

    Faulty C1

Who says the customer is always right........ The customer has rights, doesnt mean he/she is right though.
  19. Think i'll go scratch my head and look for a manual!
  20. Remove the front grill between the lamps Remove the front bumper Remove the 3 fixing screws for the lamp
  21. Afraid you cant get it reset.......for your information the mileage information is stored in both instrument panel and the vehicles main computer as you have found out the component with the higher mileage downloads it into the component with the lower mileage and over writes it.
  22. Good to see your still around Eddie, thought you had abandoned us for the Mini forum
  23. Make sure you check the oil regularly.....one minute its on the dipstick, next minute it will need 3 litres. Also worth keeping an eye on the door lock mechanisms.......if they start to become unpredictable get them changed before they jam the door shut.

    C4 Glove Box

In most cases the glovebox doesnt need to be broken to get it open......but by the time the dealer sees it thats the state it's in........customers nowadays have an attitude of 'its not my problem, i'm not paying for it, warranty will'. Most common reason for the glovebox jamming is the service book wedged under the latch......so put your service book in the place provided for it under the passenger seat. Glove boxes on C4s are covered by warranty for manufacturing defects.....so if you take your C4 to the dealer with a jammed glovebox thats still in one piece you're more likely to get a replacement than if you pulled like hell till something broke. If we type Broken against any warranty claim we need to explain how it got broken, they dont break on there own.....and yes we have to type an accurate description of the fault....they ask for the parts back and audit us!
  25. First tip.......make sure the cambelt has been changed, there done every 100k
