Firms curb supplies in fuel scare Unleaded petrol has been withdrawn from 41 Morrisons outlets. Two supermarket chains at the centre of the "faulty fuel" alert have moved to stop supplies of suspect petrol. Morrisons has stopped selling unleaded at 41 outlets supplied by the Vopak depot in Essex - at the centre of suspicions over fuel. Tesco is to empty its unleaded petrol tanks at 150 outlets in the South East, but will refill them with new stocks and continue selling the fuel. Tesco's own tests found "significant silicon contamination" in its fuel. A company statement said: "These tests show evidence of some significant silicon contamination in samples taken from unleaded petrol released from the Vopak terminal around 10 days ago. Laboratory "We believe this to be the source of contamination subsequently experienced by some customers in the south-east of England." Other tests on petrol taken from the tank of a car affected by allegedly faulty fuel have detected the presence of silicon, trading standards officers said earlier. Cambridgeshire County Council's trading standards department had the fuel sample tested at a London forensic science laboratory. A spokesman said silicon in the fuel could indicate the presence of silicone - a class of chemical compounds containing the element. Such products are used in diesel as anti-foaming agents, but can cause "serious problems" in petrol engines, a trading standards official said

I take on board what your saying, but all to often i have to face someone that thinks were fobbing them off. If dealers dont know an answer, there deemed as 'useless'. If dealers know answer and try to explain in laymans terms, were 'condescending'. If i dealers someone the truth but the customer doesnt understand its 'Bullshit'.

I would assume from what your saying that your 1.0 is a carburetor model and the 1.1 is a fuel injected model. I think it would be less hassle for you to fit a head gasket and get the other engine going. The biggest issue regarding all your suggestions would be the wiring harnesses...... are you a good electrician?

Well you asked what it was and you got an answer.......and its right.......its not bullshit......maybe you just dont understand! Dont knock others for helping

Contaminated Fuel in Kent
-
Seems no one here is having a problem yet: link on picasso site If you run a petrol vehicle take a look here.

Over the last week we have had a spate of oxygen sensors failing causing stalling/flat spot problems. Having enquired around it would appear other dealers in Kent have been experiencing problems and whilst a dealer in south london had no problems by lunchtime, a text later in the day confirmed that 3 had arrived as breakdowns by the afternoon. It would appear that affected customers are using Morrisons, Asda, Safeway, Tescos & Total garages and have all filled up in the last 7 days.....the fault isnt apparent immediately. Obviously without testing fuel i am unable to point the finger at the fuel suppliers, but it does seem strange that a component that has been in use for a good many years has suddenly developed a fault that causes them to fail one after the other. I can only assume that something within the fuel is coating the sensor and stopping it performing as intended. I do know that fuel samples are being tested, and will post results when known......but until then....be careful, it may cost you £250. As a final note, this isnt limited to Citroen, i know of another multi franchise dealership that has problems across its product range, and all at the same time.

The forced regeneration process is vital to the particle filter as it is this that burns the carbon particles. It isnt carbon that blocks the filter but the Eolys fluid that is the catalyst that assists the burning of of the particles. With regard to whether this has truly resolved your problem and returned the vehicle to its full potential, i would very much doubt it.......i would sugest it has made it 'better' and the light doesnt come on......which is all your looking for. Do you seriously think dealers would charge customers several hundred pounds if there was a reliable cheaper way of doing it.......you might think were robbing bastards, but i can assure you sometimes you just have to accept that were telling you right thing. I would also add the following comment......if you damage the core of the Particle filter it wont be accepted as an exchange unit....that adds £500 to your costs, so dont think about 'knocking it out'

In which case you need the confidential code of the vehicle and it needs to go to a main dealer t obe programmed using there computer if i remember correctly....................if iannez is about maybe he will confirm that
-
all depends if you can tell us which key your trying to program and if the key you have got is correct for the vehicle........so......: has it got one button/red led and white transmitter led, 2 buttons/red led and white transmitter led, or 2 buttons red led and no white transmitter led? How old is the car? Do you have a keypad (looks like a cash till button pad) infront of the gear lever?

.......never realised i needed a degree in english to hold a spanner.......not to mention knowing whether a box on a check sheet should have a tick or a cross in it......life was so simple as the apprentice.....why did i progress beyond pushing the broom and making tea? :)

the impact sensor is on the drivers side under the bonnet mounted close to the suspension turret. It has a rubber top on ot and will either be red or black......normally black because it makes them so much easier to see! depress the top of the sensor to reset it and hopefully all will be resolved. Good luck

What Do These Buttons Do?
kfk replied to neilnicholson's topic in Questions about the Citroen Xantia
They will be the keypad for the immobilizer......i would assume from your post that the vehicle is running without these connected. if the vehicle is starting ok *********** DO NOT RECONNECT THE IMMOBILIZER*************** The moment you reconnect the imobilizer the computers will start to immobilize......and if you dont have the code you will need to spend a lot of money to sort it out. -
You dont say how many miles it has done in that time.....but as a guide less than 1litre every 1000 miles is acceptable. No leaks?............maybe its burning it in normal use.
-
First off: - make sure the battery is fully charged - note the state of the led illumination on the keypad...........ignition off and locked - red - ignition on LED red. If red and green and bleeping at you the code you have entered is incorrect - remove keys and lock car , leave for over half hour befor reattempting starting. Dependent on the age of the vehicle the 'factory' code would have been 0001 or more likely 1111. if the codes you have been given and are using are different it is unlikely that the fctory codes are going to be of any assistance to you. With regard to what happens if you dont have a code.......unfortunately it may mean the purchase of computers as there is little can be done to overide them (they wouldnt be imobilzers otherwise). You dont mention if its a petrol or a diesel.......if its a diesel and you know a 'charitable' mechanic he may be able to remove the imobilizer on the rear of the pump and rig it up with a standard cut off valve....an alternative might be to find an 'old citroen dealer' that still has an 'ELIT' diagnostic machine. The ELIT machine plugs into the diesel pump module and allows the code you have to be entered bypassing the rest of the vehicle electrics......assuming you have the right code it willallow them to start the car.....it may even allow them to make a diagnosis. If its petrol its a new ecu, although you could try the connector behind the o/s headlamp that passes throught the inner wing.....they dont like water in them. Good luck with your Rally

......Only 2 months?............if i had a Hpi i'd either be selling it or looking to extend any warranty i had.

Seem to remember that under heavy rain water can enter the heater intake by water running down the screen and geting under the plastic trim at the bottom of the screen. The plastic trim is supposed to be bonded to the glass, if it isnt it allows water under it
