    Tyres

It doesnt matter which wheel is on which corner....providing it has a sensor fitted. When the wheel sensors are programmed the tyres are over inflated to activate 'learning mode', the sensor is then programmed to the vehicle. The vehicle computer at the end of this excercise will know the 'code names' of the 4 tyre pressure sensors......tyres are then deflated to the correct pressure. The computer knows which end of the vehicle you wheels are fitted too due to having 2 aerials (recievers) close to the relevant wheels....the front one is under the o/s/f wheel splash shield. Having worked out the front/rear bit it then needs to learn left/right. It does this by measuring wheel speed when turning......if you turn left for instance your inner wheels rotate at a lower speed than the outer. So the computer knows the code names emited from each of the wheels and can tell where it has been fitted....the reference tyre pressure information is stored in the main computer. As far as tyres losing pressure. Dont forget that it could be the wheel thats porous or even a poor seal on the bead due to corrosion, or a tyre valve leaking.
  2. Must be that naff music you listen too :P
  3. 15 bay sick speelling misteaks in the abuv powsts, if u all stick to emowts and keep showting lowdli wheel all get the messidge eventuli. :D B) :P
  4. The sensor is the little bump you can feel in the underside of the passenger door mirror.....they cant be reset but can be replaced independantly of the mirror
  5. PROVIDING YOU HAVENT STARTED STICKING KNIVES IN TO LEVER THE CD OUT IT SHOULD BE.
  6. I've never seen anthing that says we can't fit it, but then again there arn't instructions on how to fit it. Alot of it comes down to whether a dealer has had problems with a fitment or a customer in the past. You only need one modification of this kind to cause you 'too much trouble' for it to be declined forever more.
  7. The last vehicle we added Cruise control to was a fairly new C8, the information required to make it operate was in the injection ecu and required an update at the same time.

    Ecu Beware!

Does that mean you will be buying a C1 then? i dont know what relevance your comments have. If you go to any garage you will find cars that have broken down, doesnt matter what the value of the product or the name on the badge........fact of the matter is our car parks are full because they either break or get broken. Sometimes they break due to repairs carried out in an unsatisfactory manner by owners, body repairshops or havent been maintained at all. In my opinion the problem isnt the car broken down in the car park, its the ar5ehole in reception thats mouthing off about all he sees without knowing all the facts
  9. There isnt a schedule for the replacement of the alternator belt. However, we tend to recommend replacement at the cambelt change.....if only as you rightly say, it has to come off anyway.
  10. MkII Xsara does have heavier power steering than the MkI. The reason the belt wasnt changed......maybe he customer was asked and said no! after all an alternator belt isnt included in the service it would be additional too it.....sometimes its customers that cant be bothered to take good advice.....they want to save money and think were trying to have one over on them all he time. Plugs loose......1 carefull lady owner doesnt mean anything......had a situation where a vehicle came into us as a non runner......we replaced the fuel pump in the tank because it wasnt working. Roadtested the vehicle and returned it to the customer.......who, the next morning called us to tell us they had a leak. We duly recovered the vehicle and fixed the leak under the bonnet!......pity the RAC didnt refit the pipes properly that they removed. Point i'm making here is this, maybe the main dealer didnt do the job properly, but having done 5,000 miles since the last service anyone could have touched them!
  11. Is the noise it makes a chuffing noise?

    Mpg Indicator

And the other question i would ask is this: Have you ever had a problem with your indicators or wipers....did they replace the switch assy under the steering wheel.....if so its possible they've fitted the wrong one (assuming it worked before). The switch gear with computor has a 'O' on the end of the button you press.
  13. If its a petrol model it will probably fall into the sump and sit harmlessly in the sump, it might even come out on the next oil change......even if it stays in the engine its not going to do any damage. Assuming the plastic tip has fallen into the sump the new dipstick should slide straight in the hole.......obtainable from your citroen parts department. If its a diesel model the plastic tip will no doubt have jammed in the tube and will require the sump to be removed to remove the bent bit of tube and then tip out the broken tip........you wont be able to force the new dipstick down because of the old tip obstructing it.

    Mpg Indicator

have a look to see if you have a button on the end of the wiper stalk.

    Ecu Beware!

Can you clarify which ECU has got wet?
  16. Evening Eddie, No problems with C1, Engine and gearbox are toyota, reliable to date. Economical, need to rev'em a bit to get a shift on and sound a bit wierd. Only complaint i have had: when you open the tailgate in the rain, the water runs down towards the roof, misses the gutter & fills the parcel shelf.....a bit like owning an early C5 :) . But seriously, its the only problem other than people thinking there running on 3 cylinders!
  17. Normally chargeable, depends on how you get on with your dealer. Of course if your vehicle is going in for other repairs that are going to involve the computers looking at you may find they will untick the box and do it for nothing.
  18. if you check the ignition switch it can be assumed you have 12volts on the 2 way black connector pin 1, because the starter motor works. Similarly i would assume that when cranking the engine you have power out of the ignitin on pin 2 of the black connector because it goes to the starter motor. Have you got 12volts on pin 2 of the grey connector when cranking, and also in the 'engine running' position?......also worth checking fuses 2, 12 & 25 also the shunt fuse to make sure its in place. Pin 1 of the grey connector should have 12 volts present when in accessori position and engine running position. if the 2 way brown connector is disconnected and the switch put to the engine running position it should have continuity through it. Would be worth having the last 8 digits of your chassis number to assist further. Also do indicators, central locking work.....or which specific lights wont operate.
  19. Dealer only that request
  20. In general i find 02 to be good value, 2p a minute off peak to landline and other 02 phones is worth having.....i bought from an 02 shop if you look at carphone warehouse there tarifs are for 600 minutes anytime but considerably more to call landlines when your free minutes run out.

    Service

Was just about to suggest you look in your service book and check......wonderful things these publications
  22. 1a, worth providing your chassis number to you local dealer and asking if your vehicle was subject to a recall to have its wheels replaced. This assumes that your wheels are equiped with hub caps. 1b, If you have alloy wheels, do they have a centre hole?......a lot of garages are unable or have difficulty balancing them.....try a different garage. 1c, sometimes the hole in the centre of the wheel and the wheel hub are of different sizes causing the wheel not to sit central on the hub......if your wheels arnt fitted with tappered wheel bolts obtain 4 bolts to allow you to centralise the wheel before removing them one at a time and using the flat seat bolts (do not use tapered bolts to run the vehicle unless the wheel has a tapered hole) 1d, try swopping wheels front to rear. 1e, remount the tyres on the wheels in a different position 2, Headlights flicker.....Standard, its the suspension pump cutting in. 3, central locking motors tend to fail, especialy on rear door, ussually jamming shut. 4, car pitches a lot on cornering?......might be worh getting spheres checked. 5, yes you can
  23. The eloys you put in the reservoir is added to the fuel tank everytime you fill up. The particle filter will over time become blocked with the eolys fluid which in turn will cause a lack of power and poor fuel economy. All citroens equiped with particle filter have a schedule at some time in there service life that will include the replacement of the particle filter......even your old C5.

    Recalls

If you look on the label that has your tyre pressure information you will find it has various number. One of these numbers, refered to as the 'RP No' gives a reference to the build date.

    Recalls

I take it you have booked your vehicle in to get this work carried out! XWZ - checking the position of the brake relay linkage (Safety Recall) XXL - checking position of rear brake pipe - (Safety Recall) XXM - Main BSI update to resolve starter motor, anti theft problems & instrument lighting - (Quality Campaign) XYD - Airbag ECU Update - (Safety Recall) XYN - software update relating to cruise control operation (service update) Note to other owners: Just because there is a fault listed here that sounds like its the same as a problem you have got it doesnt mean the update is relevant to your model. Not all C4's suffer with these recalls and just beacause you have had a recall letter relating to one of the above doesnt mean that you should have had the other 4 aswell. If in doubt about recalls go to your local dealer with your chassis number to check on there database. If you have moved or purchased the vehicle second hand you may not recieve recall letters for your vehicle - this is a good reason to visit your citroen dealer.
