Your hardware should be fine, make sure you Windows 7 is SP1.. Your hard disk may be 250 GB, but do you have enough space?? I installed it on XP x86 SP3. I needed to download Internet Explorer 8 and a couple of files to make it run fully (don't remember which, it was a couple of years back). p.s. I use qbittorrent for downloads, it is excellent, free and no advert..

This may mean some problem with downloads or the memory on your computer. Can you give further information on your notebook?? How much RAM memory, which CPU and how fast it is and how big is the hard disk? I actually installed it on Windows XP/VirtualBox, and I don't have issues, but the host computer is 16 GB RAM/intel i7/Windows 10 x64.

At this stage it is probably best if you can download the Citroen Service Box, it has all parts and electric maps. Here is a torrent for that,, It is 20GB to download, and if you install it on a Virtual Machine using Windows XP or 7, ensure you have Internet Explorer 8 as minimum. Hi blingy, I read the whole thread but I couldn't figure out if the error just appeared by itself, or it appeared after some work was done on the car.. It is important for quicker diagnosis. I also have a C8 Automatic Exclusive with the original stereo replaced by a Panasonic (I bought the car like this). If someone was trying to fit an after market stereo on your car, then he may entered the BSI/ECU configuration and performed some activities (disabling something or another), or he may he un-clipped some wire or connector. If by itself, then it may be corrosion or device failure, it is very unlikely to have two separate devices failing at the same time. All Lexia and DiagBox releases work with my car. There are few bugs with older Lexia/DiagBox versions; documented on PSA page, but I haven't noticed them as I hardly need to use my Lexia or DiagBox (I only use it few times a year). You did not mention which version of DiagBox have you tried and if your VCI (Hardware device) is a full chip or not and which firmware is installed on it, some devices do not perform the full functionality spectrum and some do not work on all PSA cars. While I doubt that DiagBox/Lexia software version is related to your problem, you could try later releases of DiagBox. I posted DiagBox update 7.83 and DiagBox 8.17 and last week I released Lexia/PP2000 update v8.47 (not yet on this site though), you can try them to access your ECU, but I would advise extensive readings and taking photos before attempting any re-configuration.

At 60 MPH some damage must have happened to the valves/tappets. But it might be cheaper to source a head or an engine as Paul suggested. However, if you are good with mechanical work and have time, you could try changing the belt first and see if it goes (you might be lucky), it will take you around few hours. From memory: 2- Release the driver side engine mount to pass the new belt (need a jack under the engine) 2- Remove the Cam belt covers (I think they are all size 10mm socket/spanner) 3- Insert 2 long L shaped 8mm rods into the timing positions (2 flywheel rotations per 1 Cam rotation, I used 50cm 8mm bar from B&Q cut into 2 L shapes) 4- Loosen the tensioner and fit the belt. 5- Slightly loosen the 3 screws on toothed cam wheel which the belt goes over (this may not be needed, if the timing is correct). 6- Adjust the tensioner and tighten the three screws. 7- Fit the Cam belt covers 8- Lower the engine and tighten the mount. Review these: You may not need to totally remove the engine mount if you can create a space to pass the belt through.

It is unlikely to be the filter if it does it when warm, did you try some petrol additives to clean the injectors? For proper analysis you need to connect the Lexia device and check the various readings, but you may have an air leak somewhere..

First, ensure that your battery is fully charged. Below are procedures to Initialize the Citroen BSI (Body Control Module) and Automatic Transmission for Citroen C8: On the Citroen C8 and Peugeot 807 the battery can be dis-connected and reconnected through the driver’s window (with the floor removed). For other cars, if the battery is under the bonnet, open the bonnet first and leave it up, the car must be in “Unlock†status. Procedure to Initialize the Citroen BSI (body control units) every time the battery is disconnected and reconnected. This operation should be performed through the driver's window. 1. Ensure no diagnostics tool is connected and uncover the battery compartment. 2. Put the driver's window down and ensure all lights and equipment are switched off. 3. Ensure all doors are closed, remove key from the ignition and wait for 3 minutes. 4. Disconnect the vehicle battery and wait 15 seconds. 5. Reconnect the "Fully Charged" vehicle battery and wait a further 10 seconds (do not open doors). 6. Switch on the side lights through the driver's window (you will hear a "bong"). 7. Switch on the ignition and allow system's functionality check. 8. Hold lock button (while in ignition) on key down for 10 seconds. 9. Remove key open & close door test central locking system (middle button on top of rear view mirror). 10. Start the engine and complete the system's check (can be performed from inside or outside the car). NOTE: Upon re-connection (soft re-boot), if any vehicle function controlled by the BSi i.e . interior light is switched on, the internal operation of the BSi has the potential to spike or corrupt its configuration and software program...... If some or all Windows do not auto open or close, press the window lever for more than one second with ignition on (some times more than once). Procedure to Reset AL4 Automatic gearbox Resetting the Gear Box can save some RM and can be done when required. This is by performing paddle learning. It is a way to teach the engine to shift up at lower RPM under normal driving style. The Gear Box can be taught to shift gear at around 2.5K or even lower. It depend in many condition. Under normal practice this is how we can do it. 1st step Find a flat road more than 3km so that there is enough stretch to teach the gear box. The lesser the traffic and the longer the road the better. 2nd step. Stop the car by the road side. Switch off the engine and all devices/switches/controls that consume electricity, for at least 10 seconds. 3rd step Switch on the ignition (engine off) and step on the accelerator for also at least 10 second. Do nothing else. 4th step Leaving ignition 'ON" release accelerator and step on the brake. While doing this move the gear shifting between P, R, N D, 1,2,3,4,3,2,1, and back to P. pausing momentarily between shifts. Keep repeating this for at least 20 second. 5th step Step on the accelerator for at least 20 second then release. Do nothing else. 6th step With the gear at the P level, 1- Start the engine and drive the car gently/progressively. Don't rush (If you drive it right 2nd gear will engage between 1.8-2k rpm) 2- Keep on moving and watch the RPM, You can stick to 2.5K RPM, The gear will shift up to 3 and 4 at 2.5k although it will take longer time to shift. 3- Just keep on driving for about 10km for the GB to learn the new shifting pattern. When slowing down ,speed up gently so that it will still shift up at around 2.5K. If everything is right, you will see gear shift pattern always below 3K and 60km/h cruising at around 1.5k rpm in top gear. Note: Road condition will affect the ***oops*** pattern. It is normal to rise above 3K rpm when climbing hill or accelerating speedily. (Changing to tiptronic will NOT disturb the shifting pattern thereafter) Do this every time the car is serviced as the diagnostics computer will reset the shifting pattern

Yes it will clear the message, I did mine by entering that 4 liters were added when in reality I did not add any fluid. In fact I realized that you could actually add diesel instead!!! But be prepared to have "anti pollution fault" coming up occasionally (when you do not drive long distances to allow for the deposits to be burnt). I am not sure I used DiagBox v7.62 or v8.17, but any DiagBox version should work with C8.

Diagbox 7.xx From Preparation To Operation
Simple replied to Simple's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
Which version of DiagBox do you have (5.xx, 6.xx, 7.xx or 8.xx)?? For example v5.21 or v7.57 http://service.citroen.com/dtt/IFD/AC/documents/en_GB/ This site details latest releases, if you click on any of these releases/updates, you will get a page with all the fixes associated with the update. -
We have a Citroen C8 2.0 HDi Automatic, it failed due to a broken plastic lever (the one that engages the toothed cog into the flywheel), My son (who is a medical engineer) removed and I disassembled it and by bonding it and adding metal support. The fixing was overnight, but both the taking out and putting back in, I would estimate as may be a couple of hours. However, Few weeks later, while I was abroad, it broke again and my son bought a new starter and fitted it. I just asked him, and he said that the whole operation (taking the old one out and putting the new one in) took about 45 minutes. Probably doing it before helped him..

I had this problem which took me long time to find. When investigating it, exclude the MAF sensor, the diesel filter and the TPS and some other cables and sensors. However, a lot of people reported cracks in the (thin) vacuum pipes, try checking all. My problem (I reported in one of the posts) was wear in the plastic casing of the swirl diaphragm (to the right of the diesel filter) as a result of friction between a pipe and the case of the diaphragm. It was found by accident. We noticed a hissing noise with the bonnet open and the engine on, which lasted few seconds after switching the engine off. We got a flexible plastic pipe, one side to the ear and the other trying to trace the noise source until it was located. There was no way we could have guessed it. The hole was so small to be noticed and was covered by the presence of the pipe which obscured the source and made the high frequency noise sound from somewhere else. So, if you still hear the vacuum noise after turning the engine off, try tracing it. Or it may be something else altogether!!

You mentioned that the barrel rotates when using the key! Does it rotate freely (full cycles)? or the quarter cycle needed but it does not open? If you use a different key, does it also rotate freely? or it does not turn in this case?

You can operate the wipers at high speed, if they overshoot off the front windscreen, then: 1- The wipers are fitted one or two notches incorrectly. 2- The joint at the base of the wiper arm is worn out. If you switch off, then pull the wiper stalk, the wipers should rest in the middle of the windscreen. Left the wiper off the windscreen and wiggle it to check the play.
-
The heater makes a distant vacuum cleaner sound, this is how it operates and you needn't worry about it. Congratulations for the MOT pass.
-
You suggested that the noise is active while the engine is switched off. Hence, it cannot be any engine moving part like belts etc..!! View attached file for location.. C8_Z-C_d_E.pdf

You are probably talking about this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qcfPMQw3toU and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PK-OcMLsxQg If so, you will probably hear more of it and for a bit longer, since the weather is getting colder, you will also notice it if you start the car (from cold) for a minute and switch it off, you may also smell some diesel fumes while the sound is on.

Attached is the APP folder from DiagBox v8.35, it includes Lexia v500.74 and PP2000 v600.79 (latest to-date). This arrangement should work with any DiagBox v7.xx and/or DiagBox 8.xx, I have tried it on my own car and it seems to be working fine. The attachment within this post includes a link to the "APP" folder and a batch file to kill all DiagBox processes. If you wish to try it (at your own risk and having taken all precautions!): 1- Use the attached “Kill_DiagBox_Tasks.bat†to stop all DiagBox’s processes. 2- Rename your current “C:\APP†folder to “C:\APP8†3- Extract the downloaded APP-835.7z to “C:\†so that you have “C:\APP†4- Restart your computer and run DiagBox as usual. Have fun! The language is set to English, if you wish to change it, edit the DICO.TXT file in the EXE folders of LEXIA or OUTILREP (PP2000) and replace "GB" with "FR" for French. If you wish to revert to your original setup. - Kill all processes again using the wicked batch file - Rename the C:\APP folder to anything or delete it - Rename your C:\APP8 back to C:\APP - Restart the computer and start DiagBox. P.S. DiagBox has been running on Firmware 4.3.4 since 7.66/8.02. Regards, Simple. APP-835+Kill_DiagBox_Tasks.zip

Yes I do, the issues and the function of the solenoids are described in detail in the PDF attached to one of the posts. The pressure regulation fault code is triggered when the ECU senses a difference between the calculated pressure and the actual line pressure in the transmission. The pressure difference is caused by internal leakage. Internal leaks can be caused by mechanical wear, a leak between valve body and transmission casing, incorrect adjustment of the manual valve index spring. The most common cause however is the pressure regulation solenoid valve. You want to avoid the big thuds when changing down at speed suddenly. While remote; it could cause a breakage or slippage, you are advised to deal with this issue soonest. Leaving it for now is NOT a good idea, you will end up changing them any way while having spent the past time in uncomfortable drive (if prices don't go up and nothing else breaks which may add to the bill). In the mean time, drive the car gently to avoid the big ones. To be honest, other than the price of the solenoids it is not difficult if you have someone to assist you, it is only the hours. Being in Ireland, I had to source them from overseas (much cheaper), I got good quality and prompt service from both: Solenoids (2 needed) from One-Stop-Gearbox-Shop/UK: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peugeot-206-Automatic-DPO-AL4-Gearbox-Pressure-Regulator-Lock-Up-Solenoid-X2-/171708535799?hash=item27faa053f7 and Oil (4 liters needed) from France: https://www.lubuniversal.com/huiles-moteur/827-mobil-atf-lt-71141-1-l-5055107435847.html I bought the solenoids from China (@26 Euros each/free delivery), but they seemed used!! they are now available @18 Stg/free delivery from China, but I bought from the UK. they were around 95 Euro each at the dealer!!! You need to setup your XS-Evolution (Lexia) VCI and try it on an other car/s, some of them do not work on Peugeot 207 Citroen C5 and some other cars. Just ensure that it can talk to a car first. Then take it from there.

For your Lexia device, you can go through this link: http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/23435-diagbox-7xx-from-preparation-to-operation/?hl=diagbox Some Citroen C8's are CAN bus. If your device is a CAN type, then you may have to solder a 10K resistor to enable communication with CAN systems. I have written about it some where on this and other forums. But ensure that you exhaust all software communications first. Good luck. Simple.

This sounds like the 2 Borg Warner 2574.16 Solenoids, it is a common problem. Please review these links: http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/23927-help-al4-gearbox-problems/ http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/23818-c8-2003-auto-gearbox/ Good luck, Simple.

There are many reasons for the Antipollution fault which may not be related to the DPF itself. I have a 2.0 Hdi Automatic and I also had it few times; due to a leaking vacuum pipe, DPF being dirty and needing regeneration and last week it was due to filling cheaper diesel. When this error appears, the car could loose power and refuse to rev above 2K RPM I have a Lexia VCI and none of the error codes helped find the cause of the problems, I had to do perform thorough and lengthy investigations. The easiest was the cheaper diesel, because the error appeared about a mile after filling and the most difficult was the leak, which took months. If you have a Lexia VCI, try regenerating the DPF, if not, run on the motorway about 10 KM at high speed, also ensure your petrol and air filters are clean, your MAF is also clean (do NOT touch it, use a spray cleaner) before you start the expensive route of changing parts. Good luck, Simple. .
-
No, it is not normal. There may be a small leakage in the form of steam from the radiator, one of the hoses, the water pump or the tank cover itself.
-
Yes, my son replaced the starter motor on our C8 2.0 HDI Automatic, it was not difficult, and the new (replica) starter cost 65 Euros. No idea about the fusible link..
-
You should be able to fix this problem if it is wiring, you need to ascertain first if it is broken wire (inside the plastic coating, due to vibration), chaffed wires touching (due to friction or heat) or a loose connector at the end of a wire (due to rust/tarnish/salt/deposits). Notice that the wires are squeezed together before entry to the box, it may be wise to space them a little and spray them with WD40 or some water repellent; first. (do not bend the wires much, while testing, you could end up with more broken ones). P.S. If when you pushed the wires they moved inside the box, your problem may be a bad connection or a dry joint on the board that needs re-soldering. opening the box may confirm.
