Welcome to the forum. I usually get parts from our local Citroen dealer using the car VIN, then I know they will be correct and fit, plus they are often not much different in price to elsewhere. The car handbook/maintenance and warranty guide lists the correct oil and will give the oil spec/viscosity and usually the Total brand. The oil is also available at a dealer but may be cheaper over the internet. Have a look on the eurocaparts website using the car reg to see if it has a fuel filter, chances are it will not. There is also a Picasso forum with a link to it on the home page. Once you have carried out the service perhaps you will come back with a few details.

Brilliant and no cost to fix plus we have learnt another cause of poor performance.

If it is running a bit you must be getting sparks so it may be a fuel problem or air/fuel mixture problem. When you hook it up check for live data before trying to start the engine: - check the coolant temperature which should be similar to the outside air (about 5°C), - the inlet air temp which should also be the same (Haynes says it is integral with the throttle housing so possibly you replaced the wrong sensor), - the fuel pressure (Haynes shows a sensor for the high fuel pressure after the high pressure fuel pump), - Haynes shows an inlet manifold air pressure sensor (MAP sensor) so check its readings and is not blocked with oil, - check the throttle body and throttle plate are not gummed up with carbon (clean with something like carburettor cleaner or a cloth damp with white spirit/turps). - You could also check the air inlet and exhaust do not have anything blocking them.

Welcome to the forum. Back doors are known for the locks failing and preventing them from being opened so possibly something to fix sooner rather than later. You will need to remove the door card to get at it which is easier if the door can still be opened. However, you could try a battery disconnection/reconnection in case it was done a bit quick and did not allow the bsi to shut down properly. This procedure works well for me, copied from the C5 Technical section Common problems pinned topic: 14. Rear door will not open from the inside and outside. This has not happened to our C5s but it is a common problem. To fix: remove the door card, it is awkward with the door shut but can be done once removed, follow the rod to the door lock and remove the white plastic cover now try to look into the door and you will see the insides of the lock use a screwdriver and push the lever down on the inside of the lock and the door will open replace the lock with a different one. 16. Odd electrical problems caused by wrong battery disconnection procedure. If you need to disconnect the battery and not do a BSI reset procedure, I have found the following has not given me any problems on a 2004 and 2007 C5 and a 2003 C3: - remove the ignition key from the car - open the bonnet - wait a few minutes for the BSI to shut down - disconnect the battery negative terminal When reconnecting - ignition key out of the car - reconnect the battery - wait a few minutes - insert the key in the ignition and wait a minute - turn the key to the first position and wait a minute - turn the key so the dash lights come on and wait a minute - start the engine - take the windows down and up to reset the anti pinch - reset the clock (and radio on the C3).

I vaguely remember somebody having wind noise from the door mirrors on the 2008 on C5. Found here http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/21760-c5-x7-2012-right-driving-side-whistling-of-air-flow/?hl=mirror

The smoke makes you think the dpf is not that effective unless it is burning oil. Has the dpf been removed or drilled through ? Now the weather is a bit cold, do you see the glow plug light for a few seconds - it will help starting if you wait a few seconds until it goes out in the colder weather. The engine will be the 136 bhp 2.2 hdi, I think the 173 bhp 2.2 hdi was not used until 2007.

If the vacuum pump was not that good the brakes would also need a harder push on the brake pedal. However, you could have a look for any splits in any hoses on the various actuator pipes - these have been known to cause error codes such as egr fault, turbo boost fault. You could also check the brakes the next day before starting the engine to see if there is still vacuum in the brake servo but its vacuum hose non return valve may make this check not relevant.

On all our Citroens the trip computer has been reset by a long push of the button on the end of the wiper stalk with a quick push just changing the display - miles since last reset, mpg current, mpg average since last reset, miles left on fuel to empty at current mpg. The distance limit is 9999 km (about 6300 miles) and then it stops going up - it would need an extra digit - so it needs to be reset. The trip distance on the speedo I think does not go that high so maybe 1500 miles is its limit and then it starts back at 0 miles

Welcome to the forum. Some other things to check are a blockage in the air intake or exhaust, a dirty air filter, the fuel filter due for replacement, the accelerator pedal not going to the floor (a mat under it - read this one in a mag). How did you check the maf, by unplugging it and seeing if it made a difference or did you check for fault codes/actual readings ?

In the C4 Haynes manual for the hydraulic valve block/modulator/ecu unit replacement on page 9.19 it says: 'new ecus must be initialised and programmed using Citroen dedicated diagnostic equipment'. You also need this to bleed the valve block so if you do go to a dealer then get them to do all this as well as check for the no start cause at the same time - just in case it is nothing to do with the abs.

It may help if you can decide if the noise is road speed or engine speed related. Can you hear the noise when the car is not moving with the bonnet up if you rev the engine - if yes then as noted above, check all the the engine air inlet piping and other under bonnet hoses - if not then it will be harder to trace but obviously make sure the door seals are in good condition, the windows are fully closed or just open a touch to see if the noise changes, alter the cabin inlet air flow rate and vents direction. Another possibilty is a fuel injector seal leaking allowing exhaust gases to escape.

Replace The Box Under The Radio - How Can I Release The Existing Box
paul.h replied to Dremark's topic in C5 - Technical
You can get the Citroen service box on such as ebay which includes the procedures and parts diagrams. It comes on 3 dvds and is installed on your computer. There is also a French RTA manual for the C5 but it only covers the 140 bhp 2.0 hdi and 1.6 hdi engines http://www.amazon.co.uk/Rta-B737-Citro%C3%ABn-Depuis-2008/dp/2726873758/ref=sr_1_20?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1422131462&sr=1-20&keywords=citroen+c5 To get the radio out you need to insert U shaped clips in the holes at the ends of the radio to disengage the retaining clips and then it will pull out using the U clips. An example of the clips although you can make them from such as coat hanger wire http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B003JIOXSA/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_2?pf_rd_p=569136327&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B003JIQTBY&pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_r=0PFJNNEPFRZ9H8DTECTR -
Our last C4 had a n/s front bump needing a wing, bonnet, bumper, abs pump which had to be programmed by Citroen for the accident repair centre, headlight. The wings are plastic so they easily break. Possibly not all the wiring has been repaired or maybe there is something in the fusebox that needs replacing since that is in the same area.

Engine Knocking / Brakes Grinding / Accelerator Problem
paul.h replied to RichCliff's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
Knocking noise: - I would lift off the engine cover and see if it is still there or easier to find. - Our C4 had a knocking which seemed to be down the back of the engine but turned out to be a common problem of the engine air intake pipe being a loose fit in the front ducting - the fix was a tie wrap to grip it tighter together. - Some cars have a rubber insert in the crank pulley which can fail. Brakes: - maybe there is a bit of rust on the discs from the wet weather that takes a few miles to rub off. - check the back of the rear discs since these can be prone to rusting if the back brakes and caliper/suspension arm joints are not serviced. If the joint corrosion gets bad it pushes the calipers out and they can contact the wheels. - check the pads have not worn down to bare metal. - the pads may not be standard Citroen ones - if aftermarket high speed performance ones these could be noisy. High revs until warmed up: - sounds almost like a choke being too far out. So it could be a temperature sensor (air inlet or engine coolant) is reading too low so more fuel than needed is injected. A code reader with live data would check this by letting you see the indicated temperatures against actual outside ones. -
The Haynes manuals for the 1.6 hdi engines in the C4 and C5 give the fuel injector clamp bolts torque as 4Nm plus a further 65° angle, so not that tight.

Welcome to the forum. I did think of a fuel shut off switch but a search suggests there is not one. So possibly an immobiliser problem and you would be best to get your Citroen dealer to check it. No battery light could be the car is in eco mode and that will only reset once the engine has started (as well as other things such as interior lights and radio). There have been people on here with similar problems and things such as the ecu have been replaced without fixing the problem - but none have been to a Citroen dealer to have a diagnostic check for the fault. I would not try an auto electrician since these have also been used.

No Eolys, Dpf Additive, Being Used
paul.h replied to aspire_helen's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
I think the official method is to drain it out and see how much you have collected with approximately 3 litres being full and at about 80k miles it should be used up. -
Citroen 2Cv - Headlight Bulbs
paul.h replied to CitroenMADman's topic in Questions about the Citroen 2CV
Just in case the link is lost, the bulbs are listed by ds4u on ebay as 12v 45/40w P45T Yellow Headlight / Headlamp Bulb P411 Pack of 2 for £8.99 inc delivery. -
Welcome to the forum. Maybe you could have a look around the gear lever in case it catches some wiring in 4th and 6th that cuts the engine power rather than applying the brakes. There will be a cross shaft from the brake pedal to the passenger side footwell to the brake servo and there were some cases reported of a Citroen where a passenger could apply the brakes by pushing on the shaft - something to consider if you had a passenger. If it happens again, then see if you can get somebody to watch the brake lights as it happens and that may give a clue as to the cause.

I normally use our local Citroen dealer, often the prices are not much different to other places, if a regular customer they will give a discount, the parts will fit and if something needs to be ordered and it is not needed the next day then they can offer a better discount since they can get it at a lower price. You can also look at eurocarparts and gfs and there will be others but the parts are likely to be pattern ones and may not necessarily fit that well - I had this on rear lights for a C3 which were no cheaper than ones from Citroen and had to be refunded, also an exhaust for the C3 which resonated and spoilt the car . citroencarparts.net supply Citroen parts at a discount but you need the part no. and their site is also good to give you an idea of the cost of parts from your local Citroen dealer. http://www.citroencarparts.net/ To get this from the Citroen parts diagrams on the service.citroen site, register as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club - you can then use your VIN (VIS) to find your car in the top left box. http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres

It is a few years since I last flew anywhere so you are probably right.

Thanks for the info. Does this mean you had a problem with the egr valve ? Note that if it has an effect on the exhaust emissions such a modification may not be strictly legal and in the future there may be checks at the MOT for such things. I have moved the topic in to a subforum since ones outside of one do not show after a few days and then are difficult to find.

You could look at the parts diagrams and see if the part numbers have changed on newer cars.
