  1. If the pipe is on the supply to the steering then it may be under pressure and need a proper crimped type of fitting between the hose and pipe, but if on the return side after the steering then the pressure will probably be low enough for something like a jubilee clip. I have read that Citroen specialist Pleiades can repair the pipes for about £60 since Citroen no longer supply the parts.
  2. Welcome to the forum. The car can be set for the rear wiper to run when the front wipers are on whilst reverse is selected and is usually done through the menu button on the radio. However, your problem is similar to one on a C3 we had which was cured when the rear wiper motor was replaced as part of replacing the hatch door with a used one. First I would check if the wiring between the rear door and the roof is not damaged within the rubber sleeve but if this is ok then you may need to replace the wiper motor with a new or used one. Haynes do a workshop manual for the C5 which is worthwhile getting, even if your engine is not covered (I think you may have a 2.2 hdi 136 bhp) since everything else will apply.
  3. Maybe for now the best thing is to leave the lock until it gets bad enough to need doing, but I would not think how you use the remote key would cause just one lock to not undo since it would affect all the locks.
  4. Welcome to the forum.
  5. Thankyou for getting back to us. Do you think the horse hair has been pushed in the end of the exhaust or possibly it is the sound deadening from the exhaust back box that has come loose ?
  6. If you are sat in the car and lock the doors using the remote key or the dash button and then unlock the doors using these, does the driver's door unlock or stay locked ? When locking the door does it seem to be slower than the others ? I have not had to do anything on the locks but maybe it is sticking and a bit of wd40 may help but to do this it may need the inside door panel removing. You could also check the wiring between the door and door pillar in case it is starting to fail. However, see if anybody comes up with other suggestions.
  7. If you look at the parts diagrams without the filter (click on it in the left column or when selecting the vehicle do not use the VIN and do not choose an engine) so it shows all engines, then the lower gasket is shown under the Cylinder head cover / DW8 and EEC 95 depoll engine - as part 17 (024997) up to vehicle RPO number 08394. I've looked in a Haynes manual for the Xsara Picasso and that similarly does not use a gasket in the same place on the 2.0 hdi DW10 engine. According to Haynes it uses a RTV sealant. All the old sealant needs removing and any oil cleaning off the contact surfaces to give clean bare metal before sparingly applying a new bead of sealant. So I would use an instant gasket type of sealant suitable for oil/high temperatures. Do not use too much since bits could end up in the engine and also let it set before running the engine. Citroen's procedures for this engine give - Deposit a line of sealing compound (E10) at "c" around the edge of the mating surfaces. The RPO number is another identification for each individual vehicle that Citroen use and it is on the door pillar sticker with the tyre pressures and paint code. It is also listed under the parts diagrams under Characteristics from the left column.
  8. Brilliant, how did you find out it was the egr valve ?
  9. You are best to check in the Citroen parts diagrams for the bits for your van against its VIN (VIS). I had a quick look and the lower gasket is only listed up to RPO 08394. Also I could not find any mention of using a gasket or sealant in the Citroen procedures. You can see the parts diagrams as a free service if you register on the service.citroen site as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres
  10. Welcome to the forum. The 8 valve engine cam shaft cover will be narrower than the 16 valve engine since it only has 1 cam shaft, whereas the 16 valve engine will have 2 cam shafts - so at a guess, the 8 valve cover will be about 150 mm wide and the 16 valve one about 200 mm wide. You can also use your car VIN in the parts diagrams.
  11. It looks as if the French version is a Jumpy and if so there is a French RTA manual for it http://www.amazon.co.uk/590-1-jumpy-scudo-expert-diesel/dp/2726859011/ref=sr_1_fkmr0_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1414886646&sr=8-1-fkmr0&keywords=jumpy+manual+RTA The RTA manuals are good being similar to a Haynes manual but they are in French so a French/English dictionary may be needed. The best option though is to get the Citroen service box from such as ebay. It is the Citroen manuals covering all vehicles on 3 dvds to install on a computer and includes workshop procedures and parts diagrams.
  12. In case this helps, from the VIN the car is a petrol C5 II 5 door hatchback 2.0 i 16v 143 manual gearbox 5 with the EW10A engine.
  13. Does the car start with the spare key, if not, - does the car turn over on the starter motor ? - are there any messages or the engine management light lit to indicate what may be wrong ? - it may be an immobilser fault or another fault that prevents the engine starting. Ideally a check under the bonnet for anything obviously wrong but then a diagnostic check by a Citroen dealer or Citroen specialist may be needed.
  14. Copy of my reply to your similar post in the Technical Section: Welcome to the forum. A search on ebay shows cables are available such as from this seller http://www.ebay.co.u...=item540e6f36c7 A clutch problem would only affect gear changing with the engine running. Can you select the gears without problems with the engine off in case it is a gear selection fault ?

  16. If you use a garage that is not a Citroen specialist or Citroen dealer, then they may not have the required diagnostic equipment to check for anything other than engine management emission related fault codes. Specialists would use Citroen Lexia diagnostic equipment which will access all of the car. So it could be your garage may not be able to look for suspension or steering problems with their diagnostic equipment and last year when you had the engine management fault, if there was a steering/suspension fault then it would not have shown. Remember to use axle stands if you go under the car and particularly if you touch the height sensor/its link rod since the suspension can quickly drop to a low level, only a few inches above the ground.
  17. This is copied from the characteristics for our 2007 C5 2.2 hdi VTX estate which shows it has unvariable power steering but it has electrohydraulic steering which should be variable - but it is confusing : STEERING - UNVARIABLE POWER STEERING SUSPENSION - NORMAL SUSPENSION ACTIVE SUSPENSION - HYDRACTIVE SUSPENSION 3 PLUS AUTO ADJUSTMENT DYNAMIC STABILITY CONTROL SYSTEM - ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM STEERING (OPERATION) - ASSISTED ELECTROHYDRAULIC STEERING
  18. Welcome to the forum. What is the dreaded glove box issue ? A look at the parts diagrams does not show any different parts across the models for the glove box other than colours/finish and that depends on the car VIN. If it is the handle that has broken then it looks as if an aftermarket handle will be cheaper than a new lid from Citroen at about £60 for a stainless steel handle vs about £130 for a new lid with the handle (Citroen do not list the handle separately).
  19. According to the Haynes manual, there are 2 types of power steering, one using a pump driven by the auxiliary belt and one on some facelift models (2004 to 2008) using an electric pump/ecm fitted under the right front wing. The electric one provides power assistance when needed and can be varied in relation to vehicle speed/steering wheel angle rate of change. Both use the lds fluid from the suspension lds tank. The following is from Citroen's procedures which suggest the power assistance is variable on both types of pump by varying the fluid pressure and on the belt driven one is by the pump or an electro valve - so there may be a fault to look for and a diagnostic check may be able to show the fluid pressure to see if it is being regulated or possibly show a fault with the pressure switch. There is also a thrust pad on the steering rack which could be replaced. 3.2. Power steering pumpReducing flow power steering pump(engines EW7J4, DV6TED4 and DW12TED4).The power steering pump is driven by the accessories drive belt. The power-assistance varies as a function of engine speed(the flow decreases as the engine speed increases).Regulation pressure : 100 to 5 bars.Pulley diameter : 129 mm . Constant flow power steering pump(engine version ES9A).The power steering pump is driven by the accessories drive belt.A proportional electrovalve, incorporated in the valve, modulates the steering assistance as a function of the vehicle speed.Regulation pressure : 100 to 5 bars.Pulley diameter : 129 mm . If you are going to go under the car make sure you use axle stands - see this post http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/15220-always-use-axle-stands/
  20. When the petrol pump failed on a Saab I had, the RAC squirted easy start into the inlet on the engine side of the air filter and the engine ran for a while (then he checked for power to the pump which was ok so diagnosed a pump fault and after replacing it the car worked) - so this may be easier than making a new fuel supply. If you use your code reader on live data you may get a reading for the fuel pressure. The crankshaft pulley may be a damped type with a rubber insert which can fail. I have read on here that they can give a knocking/tapping noise when they fail. Also any other pulleys should be checked since they may not last forever and are probably plastic with a bearing which if spun without the belt on would give an indication if they need replacing. On some engines the bolt holding the pulley on may tighten when being undone due to loctite and has to be slackened/tightened to gradually undo it or risk the bolt snapping or some carefully applied heat may help. This is copied from the Technical section Common Problems pinned topic: 21. Crankshaft pulley failure. This has been reported on a 2.2 hdi 136 bhp engine but can happen on other engines. Symptoms are a tapping noise from low down on the engine but may initially be thought to be a worn/sticking tappet. The noise increases with engine revs. The pulley is an anti vibration type which can separate and need replacing - it is possible to fit a solid type - approx cost at a garage is £200 including a new auxiliary drive belt. Fords are ok if you like welding.
  21. If you go for the coil pack, I replaced one on our C3 last year, it did not seem to be giving any problems but the metal terminals that contact the tops of the spark plugs had corroded, so something you can easily check. New spark plugs may also help a new coil. After a quick look on the internet, it may also pay to check the ecu connectors for any corrosion as well as the cam sensor wiring/connector.
  22. Welcome to the forum. Which year and model of C5 is your car ? I've had a 2004 C5 hatchback and now a 2007 C5 estate and not found anything unusual about the steering, so possibly there is something wrong with your car/tyres and Parkesie has listed the things you need to check. What make and size of tyres do you have on all the wheels, are they worn evenly, and as already noted, are the pressures at the value shown on the front door pillar sticker and have you checked your tyre pressure gauge against another to check its accuracy (ones that are part of a foot pump can be way out) ? If you take your hands off the steering wheel does the car continue to go in a straight line or does it pull to one side ? Are the wheel bolts tight ? If the tracking is out then the car could steer all over the place - I replaced a steering rack on a Saab once, and set the tracking as best as I could but until I had it set properly the car had a mind of its own at any speed and wet manholes and more than about 30 mph had to be avoided.
  23. Welcome to the forum. I had a look at the Citroen accessories site to see if there are any official seat covers but none were listed. If your seats have air bags in them then you need to take this in to account if you cover the seats. http://www.citroen.co.uk/owner-services/accessories
  24. When you start your modifications, if you wish to add any photos to this forum, they need to be kept on another site such as photobucket and then linked to here. Or possibly you could put them on your site and link to here.
  25. Welcome to the forum. If it is just the actuator motor that needs replacing then if your car is a 2001 to 2008 model, then only the cover at the relevant side in the footwell needs removing to give access. However, the flap shaft can also break which may need the dash removing. This is from the C5 Technical section pinned Common Problems topic: 10. The air conditioning only gives cold air at one side or does not cool much. The evaporator matrix cooling the air on the C5 is long and if the amount of refrigerant is low then there will not be enough to cool all the matrix for both sides of the cabin. First step should be a regass then if that does not work and there are no leaks then look at replacing the air flap control motors. A regass may be about £50, a flap new motor about £60. It could also be damage to the air flap shaft motor fitting - see this post http://www.citroen-o...c5-2002-aircon/ . I had to have both C5s regassed when about 7 years old, on the second one there was a printout that showed there was only 93 g of refrigerant left and that 525 g were put back in yet the air con was working and gas could be heard going through the pressure control valve but the air was not cooling much.
