On Clock Area Flashing 'plip Battery' With 'info Spent'
paul.h replied to Samuel1236's topic in Pluriel - Technical
Welcome to the forum. It looks as if the message is telling you the remote key battery needs replacing, try your other key to see if it still happens. Have a look in your handbook on how to replace the battery. The service light may be nothing, otherwise it would stay on - again look in your handbook for an explanation. I have moved the topic in to a subsection since ones outside do not show after 3 days and are then difficult to find. -
From the Petrol Diesel & LPG section fault code lists, it gives; P0341 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Range/Performance We had one of the two cam shaft sensors fail on our C3 but it still managed to run in limp mode, I could clear the fault code (similar to this code but was for the exhaust sensor) and then it would come back when the engine was started. You will only have one camshaft sensor so may be it will need replacing before the car will start. A new one from the dealer for the C3 was about £23 and it included the o-ring seal. I would use a dealer for the part to make sure you get the right one against your VIN but it might be part no. 1920QN. It is possible the P1164 code may be the result of the camshaft sensor failing and there may not be a fuel fault. It looks as if the cam sensor is near the oil filler cap, you could check its electrical resistance to see if it has failed - from memory, on ours across 2 of the 3 pins there was an open circuit, but on the new one there was a resistance across all of the pins.

New C3 Owner In Need Of Help...
paul.h replied to Dan_essexboy's topic in General Discussion and Nonsense
Welcome to the forum. From a handbook for the 2007 Pluriel, the buttons around the radio can cover stop/start, parking assistance, alarm, overspeed alert, ESP. If you have your handbook it should be covered in there. If not, you can see the ones from 2007 on the service.citroen site, select your language on the right and then handbook pack (documentation de bord in French) and then your car http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres I think your 2 buttons will probably be the overspeed alert (probably when doing the speed above which you want an alert, push the button) and ESP (to switch off) if you have it. The switch block can be bought from a Citroen dealer, part no. 6554AT without ESP and 6554AS with ESP but use your VIN to make sure you get the right one. Cost is about £25 from citroencarparts.net -
Have you managed to make any progress on fixing your car ? I had hoped summarizing your posts would bring some more replies from other members with things you could check.

09 Tourer Rear Hatch-Lights Not Working
paul.h replied to Norwear's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
I have moved this topic in to a subsection since originally being outside of one, it did not show after 3 days. Also posts made outside of a subsection do not count towards the number of posts by a member. -
Have you tried pulling the belt all the way out in case it is just a bit tangled or something has got stuck in it ? Is a new belt that expensive that it is worth the bother and time of using the sale of goods act to get a new one ?

When I needed a new rear strut the gaiter on one was leaking lds fluid but the car did not sink down much, so it was obvious which needed changing, otherwise I am not sure how to tell but possibly the plastic pipes on the gaiter may give an indication if they are disconnected - one is an air vent into the axle and the other an oil return. Hopefully somebody will advise on this and also give more info on the anti sink valve (I could not find anything in the Haynes manual). If you go to a breakers for a replacement strut, make sure you get the right one since the left and right sides are different and there are several different ones. Also if you get one with the sphere attached, again there are different sphere part numbers. If you re-use your old sphere on a replacement strut, you will need a new seal between the 2 and a sphere removal tool will be needed. You will also need about 2 litres of lds fluid. You can get the part numbers from the service.citroen site by registering as another professional and as a member of the Citroen Owners Club and then use your VIN (VIS) to find your car http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres

Welcome to the forum and thankyou for the info. If you fit a new fog light then it may also need the beam height adjusting which may be possible at the back of the light from underneath.
-
Welcome to the forum. Possibly one of the rear suspension struts needs replacing since the internal seals may be leaking - about £250 for a dealer to replace one including the parts. Going up and down when parked may be if the front wheels are not parked straight ahead. The window only moving in increments may be fixed by pulling its fuse and then refitting it - see the Technical section Common Problems pinned post.

For a new key with the built in immobiliser chip you would need to go to the Citroen dealer or maybe somebody on the internet who could provide one if you give them your car details. A dealer normally can get parts in 24 hours but a new key would take longer since it would need to be correct for your locks/immobiliser.

Parkesie's recommendation of replacing the fuel filter would be a good one to start with unless it has been replaced recently. I have read on here that performance can be limited if it blocks and you may get low fuel pressure fault codes. From Eurocarparts a new fuel filter is £5 to £10 depending on the make.

When you go on the service.citroen website you can change the language at the right side, either top or bottom depending on which page you start from. When you register you need to do it as another professional and then a member of the Citroen Owners Club which is allowed under the terms and conditions as a member of a car club. http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres You could do with a copy of the Haynes manual for the C5. According to this on the mark 2 C5, access to the front fog light is by removing the engine under shield if you wish to replace the bulb. If you want to remove the fog light, it says to use a screwdriver to prise out the fog light external plastic surround from the bumper at the edge nearest the middle of the bumper. Then remove 2 screws and the light can be pulled out of the front of the bumper and the electrical connector removed. Once removed you will notice a beam height adjuster screw at the bottom of the light - when the new one is installed it will need adjusting from underneath by unclipping the undertray.

The economy mode will go once the engine is running and is just a Citroen thing that stops some electrical things working such as the radio to prevent the battery being flattened, so no need to worry about this. It sounds as if the remote key may need a new battery for the remote part to work or for it to be re-initialised as covered in the handbook following its battery replacement. However, it also sounds as if the key immobiliser chip is not being recognised - this could be a fault with the chip, the aerial transponder that is located around the igntion switch or some other part of the immobiliser system. A transponder is about £5 but ideally the car needs a Citroen dealer diagnostic check to find out what is wrong. There is a current C4 topic of a car not starting that may seem to be similar but the owner has not used a Citroen dealer for any checks, has tried a new transponder and also second hand key/ecu but it is still not sorted. From the lessons being learnt there, I would try a new remote battery, re-initialise it in the ignition and if it still does not work then use a Citroen dealer to find the fault. It may be nothing to do with the immobiliser system though and could be something such as a fuel pump or crankshaft position sensor or ignition coil.

Just to add, the car is a c5 52 plate diesel 2.0 lx from an earlier post.
-
In case others may be able to help, your car is a 2001 2.2 hdi C5. I can understand you wishing to change the car, apart from the bother, it could cost far more than it is worth to sort it out and you have already had to fix quite a bit. May be the diesel is a bad batch or has some water in it. Does the engine management light come on when first starting the car to show that the bulb is working ?

Help Needed With Smartnav & Missing Usb Port
paul.h replied to relentless82's topic in Relay - Technical
Looking in a handbook for the 9/2008 to 2/2010 Relay, pairing a phone to the vehicle bluetooth is covered under In car technology / hands free system / mobile telephone page 92. If you do not have a handbook, these can be seen/printed/saved from the service.citroen website - select your language and then handbooks and then your car http://service.citroen.com/ddb/ . You can also register as another professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club to see the parts diagrams as a free service and use your VIN (VIS) to select your vehicle. If you look under Characteristics it will give you details of what is installed on your car. The handbook does not seem to mention the smartnav so probably a separate handbook is provided for it and if you do not have one then may be a Citroen dealer can provide one. An internet search suggests it may be a Traffic master smart nav and if so there may be fees to pay if you wish to use it. On our first C5 it had a Traffic master system giving traffic alerts but it needed annual fees to be paid for it to work so I did not bother with it. This link has some FAQ's that may help http://www.smartnav.com/explore/faqs.aspx The USB port may be part of the wiring harness and a Citroen dealer may be able to provide one or you could try a scrap yard or somewhere like Maplins. -
Maybe you could try this ebay dealer, they seem to be selling off old parts. They could be the Citroen dealer in Louth but it was not possible to tell on ebay http://stores.ebay.co.uk/lcslouth/ A wiper motor from a different car may fit yours and if this is a Citroen dealer they may be able to advise on this.

2000 Xsara Picasso 1.6I Petrol Hard To Start When Cold
paul.h replied to wuforn's topic in Petrol Diesel & LPG Injection
A look in the Haynes manual suggests the body to engine earth wire is connected on the gearbox. I would think the battery to body earth wire will connect somewhere near the battery. Engine oil will always look black since it is not possible to remove all of it when it is changed, so if it was replaced recently then it should not need changing. The ignition coil cassette can be checked whilst it is off the car to replace the plugs. Look at the terminals at the top of the spark plug rubber boots to see if there is any corrosion. On our last C3 the metal terminals had corroded so I replaced it but there had not been any running problems, more of a precaution since I had read they are prone to failure. Also check the wiring connector to it is in good condition but there are no plug leads to worry about. Unless there is any misfiring, then I would not bother replacing the coil since they can be expensive. -
Once you have registered on the service.citroen site, the parts diagrams are a free service and you enter your VIN at the top left but it uses VIS instead of VIN but it is the same. This link takes you to the registration page but you may need to select your language at the bottom right http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres

Krug54, welcome to the forum. I think Sixchannel meant you have posted in the wrong section on this forum. Ideally your post would be in the Berlingo section but this is not a problem since I have moved it for you. To allow any help, please tell us some details of your car - which engine does it have - diesel, petrol, engine size and bhp ? Do you have an idea of where the oil is leaking from ? The 1.4 petrol can leak oil from the head gasket at the timing belt end and need a new gasket to fix them.
-
Welcome to the forum. We are on our second C4 1.6 hdi and find they are good cars. You need to keep up with frequent oil/filter changes using the right oil to help the turbo last since it has a reputation for early failures on this engine across all car makes.
-
I thought that sifaan probably needed a new driver's air bag but he has not been on the forum for a long time so I do not know if he has fixed his car. If you put the car message on here in Portuguese then a translation can be made or you may be able to change the language on your car through the radio menu.
-
I would be tempted to have the car checked by a dealer, it may simply be in need of a software update or there may be something that needs replacing but a diagnostic check is probably needed to find out what is wrong. The AA site has a couple of C5 recalls due to stalling but they are probably outside your cars VIN http://www.theaa.com/allaboutcars/recalls/recalls.jsp?&makeName=Citroen&modelID=C5&modelName=C5&makeId=A7&lowIndex=9

2000 Xsara Picasso 1.6I Petrol Hard To Start When Cold
paul.h replied to wuforn's topic in Petrol Diesel & LPG Injection
Welcome to the forum. Check the battery voltage before trying to start the engine in case it is being discharged by something. It should be about 12.5 volts, any lower and there may be a problem. Also check the battery is the right size and not under powered. Then check the wiring from the battery to the starter motor and the engine earth wire and the connections. Check the engine oil is the right spec and not too viscous. If all these checks are ok then maybe the starter motor is the problem and needs overhauling or replacing.
