C5 2009 Tourer No Power To Rear 12V Socket And Tail Lift
paul.h replied to Chrisc5v6's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
Looking in the French RTA manual for the 2008 on C5, your car has several fuseboxes and the handbook might not give all of them. There is a battery fusebox BFBD which is on the wing/behind the headlight and possibly might be red coloured. Your car is not supposed to have this fusebox since I think your battery is in the boot but there might be something on your car since it has fusible links as well as the fuses F6 to F9 and it is fuse F6 25 amp which is listed as the rear 12 volt socket and coffre (French for boot ?). Then the engine fusebox BSM (PSF1) which also contains the maxi fuses which are not usually listed in the handbook but you mentioned them in post 5. The dash fusebox which has 3 sections, the top row of 12 fuses is the BFH12 with fuses G29 to G40, the right side 5 fuses is the BFH1 with fuses G36 to G40 and the bottom row of fuses is the BSI1 with possibly 17 fuses F1 to F17. -
Locked Out Of C5 2006 Estate... Any Help Please!
paul.h replied to Calvadosian's topic in C5 - Technical
To need the fascia removing I guess your car is a left hand drive since for a right hand drive car to replace the flap motors and fan does not need the fascia removing, just the footwell area panels and laying in uncomfortable positions under the fascia. Haynes do a workshop manual that is worth getting and explains how to do these jobs, it will be for right hand drive cars so some jobs may be slightly different on your car (I am not sure if the steering column would be in the way for a left hand drive car). You can also get the Citroen service box procedures on dvd through ebay which you put on your computer and these cover left hand drive as well as right hand drive cars. If the heater flaps are not moving it could be the flaps themselves that are broken rather than the motors. This is from the C5 technical section Common Problems pinned topic 10. The air conditioning only gives cold air at one side or does not cool much. The evaporator matrix cooling the air on the C5 is long and if the amount of refrigerant is low then there will not be enough to cool all the matrix for both sides of the cabin. First step should be a regass then if that does not work and there are no leaks then look at replacing the air flap control motors. A regass may be about £50, a flap new motor about £60. It could also be damage to the air flap shaft motor fitting - see this post http://www.citroen-o...c5-2002-aircon/ . I had to have both C5s regassed when about 7 years old, on the second one there was a printout that showed there was only 93 g of refrigerant left and that 525 g were put back in yet the air con was working and gas could be heard going through the pressure control valve but the air was not cooling much. Also have a look at this topic for a possible fix to a broken heater flap connection http://www.citroen-o...or-air-bag-ecu/ Have a look at this topic for alternative ways to fix the broken flap connection by extending the motor spindle using one from another motor or buying a motor already with an extended spindle http://www.citroen-o...ulation-aircon/ Have a look at this topic for a case where a new comms 2000 unit fixed the manual air con not working http://www.citroen-o...-manual-aircon/ In the May 2015 Car Mechanics magazine there is an excellent article by Rob Marshall where he dismantles a 2004 to 2008 C5 heating system with climate control to replace broken heater flaps (the shaft on one had broken completely and the other was breaking). This involves removing the dash and then the heater unit from the car and then fitting new flaps from a dealer (6480E3 for dual zone and 6480E4 for mono system, both £58.53). There are 63 photos showing all the steps. This topic has some tips on replacing these flaps http://www.citroen-o...-problem/page-0 -
Automatic Transmission Oil C5 1997 Petrol 2003
paul.h replied to spiff's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
If you want the exact model of your car and its parts you can use the VIN (VIS) from the bottom of the windscreen or V5C and put this in the parts diagrams. Register on the service.citroen site as an other professional non emergency services and then as a member of the Citroen Owners Club. Once on the site put your VIN top left to find your car. Then at the left column look under Characteristics and it will give you details of your car. http://service.citroen.com/pages/index.jsp you might have to select your language first and the register button is top right. Within the VIN and on the engine sticker is the engine code RFN which means it is a petrol 2 litre EW10 J4 engine https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PSA_EW/DW_engine . On the sides of the car there should be badges that give the model trim such as SX, LX, VTR, exclusive. However, looking at your garage photo, there do not seem to be any badges but it has plastic wheel trims so is probably the SX model. The leather seats though could have been an option or maybe a retrofit from another car. -
C5 2009 Tourer No Power To Rear 12V Socket And Tail Lift
paul.h replied to Chrisc5v6's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
Have you checked the battery voltage ? If it is still on the original it will be 8 years old and due for renewal. If the voltage is down it will prevent the tailgate opening electrically but also if in economy mode the 12 volt socket might not work. Have you tried them with the engine running ? -
Locked Out Of C5 2006 Estate... Any Help Please!
paul.h replied to Calvadosian's topic in C5 - Technical
Welcome to the forum. If you need to break something to get in, possibly the lowest cost of damage may be to break a window. However, you could try something like a metal coat hanger wire or welding rod with a hook on the end poked down inside a front door glass seal near the lock to see if you can find the interior handle actuator rod and pull it up. I have used this before on other cars when locked out. An example of tools http://www.walkerlocksmiths.co.uk/car-picks-tools/car-bypass-kit?product_id=90 For the car to lock itself with the key in the ignition there may be a fault with the car - you could check the wiring between the doors/tailgate and body for any damage. -
I am guessing that the lights are not working and that you have checked the bulbs are ok. Note that when the car is in economy mode the lights will not work, as well the other things that economy mode switches off such as the interior lights and radio. Does the tailgate open from the tailgate switch ?

That link is for the 2008 on model C5. These can also be seen from the Citroen site without going through a third party website but ones for the earlier C5 are not available. http://service.citroen.com/ddb/ Maybe the best thing is to try for one through a breakers or ebay or try a Citroen dealer. You could though put questions on here for the various buttons and maybe add a picture so we can go through them.

Welcome to the forum. If the fob battery is removed it will need to be initialised again. This is in the handbook but is usually to put the fob in the ignition, turn the key so the dash lights up and immediately hold down the lock button on the fob until the doors lock which can be 10 seconds or more. If the doors do not lock, try again but also see if the fob works once out of the ignition since I had to do this on the C5. If still no luck try removing and refitting the fob battery and repeating it.

2010 Relay Handbrake Very Poor After New Shoes And Cables
paul.h replied to Lodgey47's topic in Relay - Technical
I know it is too late now but I take a picture of the rear shoes before removing them the first time and have found it useful. You could look at the parts diagrams which might help. Register on service.citroen as an other professional non emergency services and as a Member of the Citroen Owners Club http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres you might need to select your language first and then once on the site use your VIN (VIS) top left to find your vehicle. -
Welcome to the forum. Looking at a wiring diagram in the Haynes manual for the 2001 to 2008 C5, the interior lighting for the boot takes a supply from the bsi fusebox and does not have a switch. Instead it is likely using the switch to open the tailgate gets the bsi to supply 12 volts to the lights.

C5 2009 Tourer No Power To Rear 12V Socket And Tail Lift
paul.h replied to Chrisc5v6's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
On Citroens you should not disconnect/reconnect the battery too quickly since time has to be given for the bsi to shut down, otherwise odd electrical problems can occur. The following below from the Common Problems topic has not given me any problems. It could be one of the locking settings has changed, usually if you use the fob to unlock the car but do not open a door within 30 seconds it will lock itself again - possibly there is an option that just lets you open the tailgate and if a door is not also opened within 30 seconds the car will lock itself. Have a look in the handbook to see if there is anything. It might also be removing the shunt fuse has reset the car to factory settings but this is a guess since I have never removed this fuse. 16. Odd electrical problems caused by wrong battery disconnection procedure. If you need to disconnect the battery and not do a BSI reset procedure, I have found the following has not given me any problems on a 2004 and 2007 C5 and a 2003 C3: - remove the ignition key from the car - open the bonnet - wait a few minutes for the BSI to shut down - disconnect the battery negative terminal When reconnecting - ignition key out of the car - reconnect the battery - wait a few minutes - insert the key in the ignition and wait a minute - turn the key to the first position and wait a minute - turn the key so the dash lights come on and wait a minute - start the engine - take the windows down and up to reset the anti pinch - reset the clock (and radio on the C3). -
If you go on autotrader you can put in Citroen, C4, petrol, manual gearbox, coupe, a Milton Keynes post code such as MK1 1AA, up to £3000 and then say 100 miles distance. This comes back with 29 cars to have a look at http://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-search?sort=price-desc&radius=100&postcode=mk11aa&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=New&make=CITROEN&model=C4&price-to=3000&body-type=Coupe&fuel-type=Petrol&transmission=Manual

Welcome to the forum. First thing to ask is how much are you thinking of paying for a new car since this will give an idea of the year/mileage to expect and what size engine. Also where do you intend to buy one, whether a particular town or nationally and if from a Citroen dealer, other car dealer or privately. Autotrader is a good source for cars on line. On the C4 technical section there is a list of Common problems but the C4 tends to be reliable so there are not that many. The coupe only has 3 doors including the tailgate, so is not as practical as the 5 door and there are not as many about so may be harder to obtain one.

2011 2.0 163Hp C5 Engine Management Light On;- Fault P0235
paul.h replied to PGrehan's topic in C5 - Technical
The boost sensor is probably the MAP sensor (manifold pressure) Citroen part 1920QR http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-GENUINE-CITROEN-PEUGEOT-ENGINE-MANIFOLD-PRESSURE-MAP-SENSOR-1920QR/382021182362?_trksid=p2047675.c100623.m-1&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D43783%26meid%3D38e118fc3a5149d8a1bb93c9798e253f%26pid%3D100623%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D361915212630 so will be on the inlet manifold on the left (as you look from the front) at the narrow bit before it widens. It also includes a temperature measurement. You should check if it is blocked and also its electrical connector as well as the wiring. If your code reader gives live data you could see what pressure it is giving to see if it is realistic but you should have atmospheric pressure without the engine running and then about 0.2 bar boost at about 2500 rpm with the car not moving but when moving at full load should be about 1.4 bar or about 1.1 bar if not moving. If your reader gives values in kPa, then atmospheric pressure is about 101 kPa, 0.2 bar about 120 kPa, 1.4 bar about 240 kPa, 1.1 bar 210 kPa - note that absolute pressures are being given in kPa whereas the boost pressure is gauge pressure. -

Welcome to the forum. At £200 you can not go wrong, even if you run it in to the ground and not fix anything. The suspension tends to clonk a bit on the C5 so if the rear tyres are not wearing badly and leaning in at the top, and the MOT has not given any advisories, then you should be able to live with it. You can still check the drop links - you can check by levering the link or disconnect one end and then see if there is a lot of play in the joints at the ends. Have a look at the C5 technical section Common Problems pinned topic, including the warning that you need to raise the suspension to max before jacking it up and also to use axle stands if you intend to go under the car. With leather seats I guess your car is the exclusive model. If you do your own maintenance the Haynes workshop manual is worth getting. Possibly the catalytic converter rattle could be exhaust paste if it has recently been removed. Also the heat shields can come loose due to corrosion but a large penny washer on the bolts will provide a fix. Some info here on the gearbox oil http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/24819-al4-gearbox-atf-suggestion/ Under the front seats are drawers and sometimes the handbooks are put in them , so worth a look.

Something you can check. There is an article in the August 2017 Car Mechanics page 27 of a C3 needing a new alternator since the battery was not charging. A new alternator was put on but again it did not charge. Checking the wiring found the alternator lead is connected to the starter lead before it reaches the battery, the starter lead was making a good contact but not the alternator lead - an adjustment was the fix. This was found first by using a voltmeter at the alternator and found battery voltage was not reaching the alternator terminal.

Removing And Replacing Passenger Side Rear View Mirror C4 Grand Picass
paul.h replied to Samvan77's topic in C4 - Technical
To remove the door mirror the trim at the base is prised off at its edges and then the 2 bolts that are seen can be undone. However, the wiring plugs need the door inner trim removing so they can be unplugged. -
Possibly if you look at the parts diagrams without using your car VIN or with the filter off, it will show part 5. The it comes back as Citroen part 6362AN with description Fascia light - LC FR/RR LEDS with amb LED with amb LTG except 6-speed controlled manual gearbox except STT 6-speed piloted manual gearbox - LC FR/RR LEDS without amb LED with amb LGT except 6-speed controlled manual gearbox except STT 6-speed piloted manual gearbox

Welcome to the forum. Possibly the following copied from above may apply in your case: However, despite above thoughts, a search shows the C4 auto box goes to 3rd gear as a default setting and in this link the problem was solved for one owner by replacing worn brake pads and discs and also the brake pedal sensor http://www.honestjoh...m/post/?t=90102 .So let the dealer replace the pads, try and get new discs as well, and see if the problem goes. If not, then maybe a visit to a Citroen dealer may be needed.

C5 2009 Tourer No Power To Rear 12V Socket And Tail Lift
paul.h replied to Chrisc5v6's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
I have put your car details in your signature which you can edit if you go to your profile, just saves mentioning it every time you start a topic. In the handbook for the 2009 C5 it gives the tailgate fuse as in the dash fusebox A and fuse G36 30 amp (possibly green). The G fuses are often direct from the battery through a maxi fuse. As you have pointed out, it does not list the rear 12 volt socket fuse for the V6 hdi since you do not have the battery fusebox. In a handbook for the 2010 C5 it gives the rear 12 volt socket as a second fuse F6 25 amp (possibly clear) in the engine fusebox - so maybe the fuse is amongst the others. If the electric tailgate is not working it could be a sign of a low battery voltage, also a sign if eco mode comes in soon. You can see the handbooks on-line but may need to select your language first http://service.citroen.com/ddb/ -

C8 2.2 Turbo Failed, Ran On Engine Oil, End Of Car?
paul.h replied to chapster's topic in Technical Section - C8
Welcome to the forum. Your lowest cost option may be to source another engine. Even if this one was rebuilt, it would need a new turbo which might be similar cost to a used engine. As an example but I am not sure if this includes the turbo http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-C8-PEUGEOT-607-807-406-2-2-HDI-ENGINE-COMPLETE-96K-MILES-/201997693775?hash=item2f0800334f:g:5Q4AAOSwjRpZQR99 -
Welcome to the forum. What year is the car and is it the 90 hp twin cam shaft or 70 hp single cam shaft engine ? In the Warranty and maintenance book (with service stamps) that came with our 2007 C5, for the C3 it gives timing belt replacement as at 10 years or if sooner 150k miles for the diesels except for the 70 hp diesel it gives 10 years or 160k miles. So if your car is not yet 10 years old it may not be due for another 10k miles. If it is the model to 2009 there is a Haynes manual that covers the car. If it is the 2009 on C3 then for a workshop manual you can get the Citroen service box procedures on dvd through ebay. The 70 and 90 hp engine require the cam shaft, crankshaft, fuel pump and flywheel locking to set the timing. Rather than buying pins to do this, you may find bolts of the right diameters can be used but the one to lock the flywheel will need to be a high tensile one so it does not snap when undoing/doing up the crankshaft pulley bolt (30 Nm then 180°).
