You would need a number plate for the lighting board, only about £10 from a dealer or elsewhere. You need to take your V5C document and some ID before you can get one. I do not know how far the centre parcs is from you, but it could be cheaper to just make 2 trips in the car, one to take all the passengers and a second to take the bikes. You could also consider hiring bikes. If paying to have a towbar and electrics, from Towsure it is about £313 for 7 pin electrics which is all you need. However, if you are thinking of towing a caravan you should go for 13 pin electrics which is about £50 more. http://www.towsure.com/citroen-c4-grand-picasso-2006-2013-removable-flange-towbar You should go for a flanged towball that will allow a bike rack plate to be put between the ball and towbar plate. http://www.towsure.com/cycling/cycle-carriers-and-cycle-carrier-accessories/towbar-cycle-carriers-bike-racks Another possibility is a rear mounted high level bike carrier that does not hide the rear lights - just seen this on the Towsure site http://www.towsure.com/high-rise-strap-on-3-cycle-carrier and at £59.94 could be your best option.

I think the speedo and rev meter both use the same motor. Did you do anything to get the speedo working ?
-
As well as using the number plate, you should also use your VIN which will identify your vehicle to the dealer and which parts are needed. The VIN is on the V5C document but on the vehicle, probably at the bottom of the windscreen is the easiest place to see it. If you are not using a Citroen dealer, you can see the parts diagrams if you register on the service.citroen site as an other professional non emergency services and as a member of the Citroen Owners Club. Once on the site use your VIN (VIS) top left to find your vehicle and then look under Mechanical, Front brakes to find the Citroen part number for the pads. Use this part number when buying the new pads. http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres you might need to select your language first.

Without the code reader checks, maybe you could check the connector again and see if all the pins are ok.
-
If you have a code reader with live data, you could plug it in and see what speed/rpm the car is giving. If you then have values for these on the reader, it suggests the problem is with the instrument panel/wiring/connector and not elsewhere. If you turn the ignition key so the dash lights up do the speedo/rev counter needles flicker which is normal ? It is a common fault for the needles to come loose, I had this and glued the speedo needle back on. This is from the C5 Common Problems pinned topic 19. Speedometer stops working. The motor at the back of the speedo can be replaced to fix this - see http://www.citroen-o...ometer-repairs/

The trip computer on our C3, C4 and C5 all work the same. Push the button on the end of the wiper stalk to see the various displays. Note the estimated range is based on the current driving conditions and changes quickly so may not be that accurate. A quick look in the C4 Picasso handbook gives the fuel tank as approximately 60 litres with the low level message starting at about 7 litres remaining. It does not say how accurate the approximate is though.

I think you have the car purchase date wrong, October 2017 is in the future. Rather than try to guess what is wrong you need to use a code reader, otherwise you can start replacing lots of expensive parts in the hope of finding the right one before wasting too much money. The depollution system faulty message simply means there is a fault that can affect the running of the engine and hence the exhaust emissions. So it could be any of the sensors, a wiring/connection fault, an air leak, the exhaust catalyst, the exhaust lambda sensors, etc. The other warning message will likely be related but could be such as a brake light switch, wheel abs sensor, speed control, etc. Limp mode is a preset control of the engine to minimise emissions to let you get home or to a garage. If you do not have a code reader they do not cost much, less than a diagnostic at a garage. As an example one that also does some engine live data http://www.gendan.co.uk/product_FXNT200.html

Not sure I have understood your post. You are saying at a low tank level you get a message but then you fill the tank back up but can only get about 9 litres in. If so then there must be a problem with the level gauge. To replace the level gauge needs the tank lowering. On the parts diagrams there are a few different fuel tanks depending on the rpo and which engine is installed and whether petrol or diesel. The diagrams though do not give the tank size.
-
Do you have a towbar and towbar electrics ? You will need the electrics to plug in a lighting board if you carry bikes on the back since the bikes will hide the rear lights. If you do not have the electrics then you will need to add on the cost - diy to fit a towbar and electrics can be about £150. It is a long time since I carried bikes on a car and used a Halfords boot rack. The bikes make the car slightly wider. If you have the towbar you can get bike racks that fasten to it or bolt to a plate behind the towball. If you leave the car with the bikes still on they will need locking on somehow. I have never tried a roof bike rack. If you go for one of these it may be dificult to lift the bikes up and on to the roof and you may need some steps, especially with your car being quite tall. Also the extra height needs to be considered if going under something low. A roof rack will increase fuel use a bit.
-
I hope you did not have to pay the dealer. Maybe your car going to the dealer was like a visit to the dentist or doctors where you suddenly get better in the waiting room. I would check the lds level just in case it is low - with the car on minimum height the level in the tank should be at the bottom of the filler neck strainer. You could also check the electrical connector on the pump is on properly, I read on here that they can come loose but have not seen it on our C5.

Using the CT15845 in a search comes back with this which lists is as for RH drive and also CT15844 for LH drive. The mountings will be the same but the tail pipe is just on the other side so the fumes go to the middle of the road in each case. http://www.tecdoc-module.eu/autoparts/citro%C3%ABn/relay/3.0hdi145/exhaust/silencer/?of=m5576;t33787;s10414 Then on that site if you click on analogues it gives other makes for the same part http://www.tecdoc-module.eu/autoparts/search/CT15845/VENEPORTE/ which can lead to more searches but there do not seem to be any available. If you can not get an exhaust then you could always have one made at a custom exhaust supplier. A search comes up with lots of companies who do this so you could enquire at one nearest to you. As an example https://www.powerflowexhausts.co.uk/index.php?route=product%2Fapplication_guide%2Fecu&make=CITROEN&model=RELAY&year=2007&engine=3.0+HDi+160 If you go back to the parts diagrams and look at the exhaust for a FAP 3.0 hdi van, it will show you what to look for but they are usually a large diameter cylinder.
-
You need to check if the van has an exhaust particle filter (DPF) - the service.citroen site using your VIN under vehicle characteristics says it does not have one (TURBO DIESEL F 30DT WITHOUT FAP) and therefore it does not show one - hence the exhaust shows as 1730V9. If you have the DPF (FAP) instead of using your VIN, use new vehicle and then pick a Relay 3, 3.0 hdi FAP, (I do not think you have a euro 5 engine) the parts diagrams come out as 1730W9. In the parts diagram the clip looks to be quite wide and not a U bolt clamp, so maybe it is the one you have. I would be tempted to measure/photo your exhaust and contact the one in the link, just in case they have it labelled wrong or it fits your van anyway. Do you know if the exhaust has been previously replaced ? There might also be another Citroen part number on the silencer such as CIT---- which could be worth a search. This might also fit if the tail pipe can go at the opposite side to your existing one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fiat-Ducato-3-0-TD-116-KW-158-HP-Box-since-06-2006-Silencer-Exhaust-System-C48-/371468901647?fits=Model%3ARelay&hash=item567d459d0f:g:mSAAAOSw9mFWJ36B

If you remove the tyre pressure sensors then I think that could be a modification you should tell your insurer about since the car is no longer standard against which they assess your premium. It is unlikely to increase the amount you pay but in the event of a claim, it removes a possible excuse for not paying out. Remember when you renew your policy they always ask if there have been any changes and if you say no when there have been, you could be considered as not complying with the policy and therefore would not be covered. What make of tyres are only giving 9k miles ? I have been using Michelins on our Citroens over the last 12 years and about 40k miles seems about normal on the front and more on the rear. On the 2007 C5 the existing tyres Michelin HP Primacy have done 17k miles and there are many more miles left in them. Most of the trips in the C5 are long distance which may help so not that many stop/starts but the C3 and C4 are often used round town. If the ride was too hard on the car with the tyre pressures at the recommended value, then maybe there is a problem with the suspension. I have read on here that changing the suspension fluid can help but you could have a problem with the spheres.

There are different part numbers for the Relay so probably easiest if you look at the parts diagrams using your VIN, then use the Citroen part number in google/ebay to do a search to see if any are available. Register on the service.citroen site as an other professional non emergency services and then as a member of the Citroen Owners Club. Once on the site use your VIN (VIS) top left to find your vehicle and look under Mechanical, Engine, Exhaust. http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres you might need to select your language first. A search on part 1730W9 came up with this but I do not know if this would fit but it looks like the parts diagram picture for the Relay 3, 3.0 160 engine rather that the 2.2 hdi ones http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Relay-2-2-Hdi-Exhaust-/372002188382?hash=item569d0eec5e:g:RRYAAOSwrx5UWUr3

Vehicle: Trevor Dawes Citroen C5 Exclusive Estate (2009)
paul.h replied to Dawsey09's topic in Members cars.
Welcome to the forum. Good to see it is towing a caravan, the C5 takes some beating for towing. Which engine does it have ? -
If not done already, cleaning the brakes is something that usually needs doing on a car if you are not sure of its history. Dealers do not include brake servicing as part of a service. On the C5 the fronts can seize a bit with the dust that builds up and the rear ones suffer from corrosion between the suspension arm and caliper that can cause squealing and also the caliper to be pushed out and even touch the wheel. The Haynes manual is good and there are pinned topics on one of the C5 sections on the brakes. The brake and clutch fluid should be replaced every 2 years - we had a topic recently where this had not been done and the brakes failed to work going down a hill.
-
This topic started 2½ years ago and the OP has not been back since then to tell us what happened to the car, so no point in spending any more time trying to help.
-
Thank you for getting back to us. No matter how long it takes, it is always good to know how a problem was fixed.
-
On a petrol engine the lambda sensors should not be removed. The inlet one continuously adjusts the fueling and the outlet one checks the catalyst is working. If the inlet one is not working/removed the car would go to limp mode and not run very well. The C5 will have a catalyst, I think it was from about 1993 when petrol cars had to have them.
-
Had a look at the parts diagrams and there are a few different dip sticks for the 2.0 petrol engine and these are different to all the other engines. If you are buying one you will use your VIN to get the right part but if measuring another one, you will need to check the car VIN to see if it uses the same part. 1174E2 for the EW10D engine 1174E2 or 117478 or 1174E1 for the EW10J4 engine, depending on the engine number with the change from E2 at engine number 1050110. A search shows that 1174E2 is common on other Citroens but looking at one, you probably have lost the end of the dipstick with the max/min marks on. If so and the oil level is still on the end of the tube, the oil level could be too high. For these plastic dip sticks it is common for the end to come off. I read that Citroen used to take the sump off to find the old bit but decided they would not cause any damage so gave up. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OIL-DIPSTICK-FOR-CITROEN-C5-XSARA-PICASSO-SYNERGIE-1-8i-2-0i-EW10J4-EW7J4-1174E2-/370729163618

How To Lock Flywheel To Remove Crankshft Pulley.
paul.h replied to DonL's topic in Technical Section - C8
This is from the Citroen service box procedures and confirms what you have said, the timing belt pulley and accessory belt pulley are held to the crankshaft by the bolt and washer. Their positions though are set by the half-moon key so you need to make sure it is in good condition. Make sure the washer goes the right way round if there is a choice. (6) Crankshaft gear (timing belt puley) .(7) Accessories drive belt pulley.(8) Washer .(9) bolt .The pinion ( 6) moves freely on the crankshaft. The accessories drive pulley ( 7) is held on the crankshaft by a half-moon keyway and by the tightening of the combination of the washer (8) and screw (9). Also in the procedures, the loctite is cleaned out from the end of the crankshaft, the old bolt put back and tightened to 40 Nm, the timing belt tension set and the old bolt removed and then the new pre coated bolt is used, tightened to 40 Nm and then an extra angular tightening of 40 degrees. -
Have a look at the Citroen parts diagrams. Register on service.citroen as an other professional non emergency services and as a member of the Citroen Owners Club. Once on the site use your VIN (VIS) top left to find your car. Then look under the Mechanical suspension sections. http://service.citroen.com/pages/index.jsp

Shaking Trembling When Accelerating C5 X7 Exclusive
paul.h replied to jaysams80's topic in C5 - Technical
You could check the suspension arm bushes are ok, plus any other bolts that were undone when replacing the drive shafts are still tight. For engine mounts, the one at the back should be checked. If nothing mechanical can be found, then maybe it is something that affects the fueling and might be nothing to do with the drive shafts. -
C5 2009 Tourer No Power To Rear 12V Socket And Tail Lift
paul.h replied to Chrisc5v6's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
If it only took an hour to charge the battery back to about 12.7 volts then that is a sign of one down on capacity. I would have thought it needs half a day to charge from about 12.03 volts. At least you now know how to fix the tailgate opening when funds allow.
