  1. Did the brake cleaner get all the grease off the discs so none was left to contaminate the shoes ? Maybe you could adjust the shoes through the hole in the disc again so they bite and then back off 1 or 2 notches rather than 5 as in the procedure.
  2. How up to date are the downloads, the dvds available are only up to 2013 so do not cover the most recent cars. 24 euros is a lot, I think I paid about £5 from a UK ebayer a few years ago for the 2012 version.
  3. Welcome to the forum. This is the other topic http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/24626-very-poor-handbrake-please-help/ Many years ago I had a Vauxhall Viva which had a poor handbrake and that was due to a wear lip on the brake drum which was preventing the shoes making a full contact with the drum. Once it was filed off the brakes were ok.
  4. Maybe it helps if the survey is filled in as replies so I have copied the attachment below which may be easier. For the name I suggest to use your forum name and the town is optional. The easiest way to reply is to click on Quote at the bottom right of this post and then fill in the answers. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Subject: Wind noise from door mirrors Description: At speeds between 40 and 60 mph, and dependent upon weather conditions, a high pitched whistle is generated by the door mirrors on both sides of the car. This noise ceases if the mirrors are folded in. Statement: I own a Citroen C5 and am happy to confirm that my car does/does not suffer from wind noise created by the door mirrors as described above. 5. Good to see it is fixed, the alternative at the dealer prices could have been changing the car. The dealer in Lincoln seems to charge about £96 an hour for labour apart from fixed price jobs, which makes it uneconomic for them to do repairs as our cars are getting older and need more doing. Fortunately most things can be done diy.
  6. Welcome to the forum. So all replies are in one place I have deleted your similar topic and moved this in to a sub forum so it does not disappear after a few days. This is from the C5 Technical section Common problems pinned topic but if this is not a fix in your case then you could try taping over the various gaps around the mirrors to see if the noise changes. 46. New C5 (X7) wind whistle noise. Thanks to seanodwyer for this fix, apparently a common problem and there have been posts about this before but no fix reported until now http://www.citroen-o...whistle-solved/
  7. The injectors do not need removing, just the electrical connectors and fuel lines (as well of a lot of other things to gain access to the air intake). You can get the Citroen workshop procedures through ebay on 3 dvds as the Citroen service box but the procedure is copied below, less the pictures which do not copy from the dvds. It says to disconnect the battery but I do not know if this is necessary since many procedures say this when it is not needed. 2. 8. Looking at the parts diagrams for the manual seats with the arm rests, the mark 1 and 2 C5 both have the same seat slide that fastens to the floor and the seat frames are the same. So it looks as if the seats can be swapped but I do not know about the wiring for the air bags, you would need to check if the connectors and wiring colours underneath are the same. The parts diagrams for the seat air bags show similar part numbers for mark 1 and 2 but differences in part numbers depending on the colour and also if the car has lateral trajectory monitoring - if the 2 cars are different then you could swap the air bags over if you strip the seats.
  9. You need to use a code reader to find out what the fault is, anything else is just guessing and could result in replacing lots of parts before finding the right one. If buying a code reader you need to make sure it will work on your car first since obd compliance was not required on diesels until 2004 and it has been reported many low cost ones do not work on the C5.
  10. Welcome to the forum. Only the exclusive models of the 2004 to 2008 model C5 are listed as having arm rests on the front seats. I do not know if the mark 1 and mark 2 seats can be transferred, possibly the wiring connections are not the same but I do not know. You could look at the parts diagrams if you register on the service.citroen site as an other professional non emergency services and as a member of the Citroen Owners Club. http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres you may need to select your language first.
  11. For wires, you could look at existing wiring routes through the bulk head. When I wired up our previous 2004 (mark 1) C5, I ran the wires from the battery and took them through the bulk head along the wiring loom from the engine fuse box. It was a bit of a squeeze but helps if a wire/rod can be pushed through from the passenger footwell end first to then pull the wires back. I also removed the windscreen scuttle so it was not an easy job overall. Others have run towbar wires under the car first.
  12. How old is the C3 battery ? We had a 2003 1.4 petrol C3 and when I replaced the battery on it I fit a longer one with a greater Ah. From memory, towards the back of the battery tray is a plastic side bit which can be lifted out and put back a bit further to give more room. I have no idea about the alternator.
  13. Welcome to the forum. Possibly there is a common wiring problem near all the sensors.
  14. Since you have posted in the Xsara section I am not sure if you meant a dispatch. If the dispatch then the part number could be 508735 but this should be checked using your VIN. Using this Citroen part no. in ebay comes up with a few but since they appear to be around £20 then they may be similar from a Citroen dealer, also from eurocarparts http://www.eurocarparts.com/anti-roll-bar-components
  15. Just looked up the speed limits in Mauritius and they are similar to the UK so it can not be excess speed that is causing the tyre wear. We could do with some input from somebody with 19 inch wheels to see what wear they are getting. On our C5 they are 16 inch ones.
  16. It sounds to me as though the battery may be the problem and that it no longer has enough capacity. How old is it ? I have found after about 5 to 7 years they are on their way out and need replacing. If all the journeys are 15 minutes then this is not going to be enough to charge a battery up to replace what is used to start a car. If you have another car you could try the voltmeter on it to see how that compares but you could find the voltage will drop as the car is started but not as low as 9 volts but will then get back up quickly. You could check all the wiring for condition and the connections on the battery/alternator/body and engine/gearbox. If you have another car you could also try the battery from that in the C3. You could also try the meter directly on the battery, just in case the socket is not seeing a true voltage and it is not dropping as low as 9 volts.
  17. Which country are you in and are the roads in good condition, just thinking of anything that might cause the tyres to wear too quickly. What speeds do you drive at ? Since the tyres are wearing evenly it suggests there is nothing wrong with the car. On previous cars did you have the same problem of tyre wear ? The worst tyres I had for wearing quickly were India ones in the 1980s which wore down to the metal wires/inner material in 5000 miles (8000 km) and they were cheap to buy but not worth it, other makes on that car gave about 15000 miles. Nexen tyres may not last long https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=723443 but there seem to be other reports saying differently but it may depend on which type of Nexen tyres are used and how recent they are.
  18. How do you drive the car, enthusiastically or gently since this can affect how long the tyres last. On Citroens I have used Michelins and these can give about 40k miles on the front and more on the back. The C5 though may be less but I have not yet worn any out since I do not do many miles each year.
  19. Welcome to the forum. I have copied this from your other similar topic which is now deleted: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Guys, I've got a Citroen C5 2009 2.0 HDI with Hydractive suspension. I've noticed excessive tyre wear on both front and rear suspension. The front tyres last only 10,000 KM while the rear ones at 5000 KM. The wheel is of 19". There is no suspension noise and the tyres wear evenly across. Any help will be much appreciated. Regards, Shameem
  20. The Citroen part number for the oil may be CITROEN RP reference : 9736 22. A search against this came up with Ravenol http://www.ravenol.co.uk/ravenol_products_AUTOMOTIVE_automatic_Transmission_oils.html http://www.ravenol-direct.uk/ravenol-atf-54hp-fluid.html
  21. You need to use a code reader to see what the fault is. If buying one make sure it will work on your car since diesels only had to be obd compliant from 2004.
  22. If the battery is down at 9.2 volts then it must need replacing or charging off the car to get it back to about 12.7 volts which could take a day or 2 - if it is only a few hours then that is a sign the battery capacity is down and also needs replacing. How are you managing to start the car with its voltage so low since anything below around 12.3 volts is unlikely to turn the engine over on the starter motor ?
  23. If you do not manage the download, the service box can be obtained through ebay on 3 dvds. As an example to see what it looks like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Service-Box-1-2014-TIS-EPC-WDS-/251930181500
  24. Was it Cleopatra that bathed in milk, could be a good name for a car.
