  1. The water and oil temp gauges are doing the same as our car. The oil temp does not go up like the water one being a lot slower to start moving and then not going up much. The battery one on our car sits about midway with the engine running or with the ignition on and the battery in a good state of charge, but will be lower if the battery is down a bit and then move to mid way once the engine is running. I have never seen it go to full. When you open the door or put the key in the ignition you may notice the gauges inc speedo and rev counter all twitch a bit as they are checked by the car.
  2. If you are in the RAC or similar and if you have homestart they will take your car to the garage if they do not get it going. If you got 12 volts at the starter solenoid connection when using the ignition switch, then the solenoid should have clicked and moved to put the 12 volts to the motor. So since you did not get the noise despite getting the 12 volts, then the starter must be at fault. Have you checked to see if the engine turns by putting it in gear and pushing it a bit, just in case the starter is not turning if the engine is seized ?
  3. Oil selection is confusing and I think I would use the Total oil INEO ECS 5w30 but when you go to the dealer for the oil filter and drain plug washer you could ask them which oil should be used. In your warranty book which oil does it say not to use on the 1.6 hdi ? Problem with eurocarparts is they are suggesting to use an oil they sell but a look on the eurocarparts site without using your reg, just a 2006 1.6 hdi there is a long list of oils but the one you have been recommended says it is not for dpf cars http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Citroen_C4_1.6_2006/p/car-parts/car-lubricants-and-car-fluids/lubricant-and-fluids/engineoil/?521776081&1&3ce9608926c20c8b062e52e78247438ad21873e6&000398 This one says it is for a dpf http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Citroen_C4_1.6_2006/p/car-parts/car-lubricants-and-car-fluids/lubricant-and-fluids/engineoil/?521776051&1&50ef68164c9b049f02f6ca33dccc811d3aa5e872&000398 A look on Castrol's site for a 2004 to 2009 C4 1.6 hdi 110hp (80kw) dpf recommends a 5w30 C2 oil. Without the dpf they recommend a cheaper oil. A look on the Total website recommends the INEO ECS oil 5w30 or 0w30 for the dpf car. http://total-gbr-e-commerce.lubricantadvisor.com/advice.aspx?lang=eng&typeid=23cb45b585a55605b202dd4f6551ae8b&br=62ce082f5afe4d02
  4. Do you get the same picture if the boot (tailgate) is opened whilst the engine is running ? Also what happens if the tailgate window is opened using the switch under the wiper ?
  5. From memory, you may find the 5/21w bulbs are for tail light and fog light and the 21w bulb is the stop light just to confuse things.
  6. The oldest warranty guide I have is for our 2007 C5 and on the back cover has 9006/2. In this for other countries I think it means outside of France since the Activa oil it says is France only and Quartz must be for other countries. The oil recommendation must have changed from your car year to the 2007 year, hence the reason to look in your book. I do not know if any of the oils you have listed are low saps oils, I think the ACEA standard for these is C2 which in my warranty book is only listed against the Total Quartz Ineo ECS 5w-30 oil. The only warning listed is 'for C4 2.0i 180 hp, it is essential to use exclusively the oil 5w40'. In the Warranty guide that came with our 2010 C3, the only oil listed for diesel engines with a dpf is the Total Quartz Ineo ECS 5w30 oil with PSA standard B71 2290 and it also warns to only use a C2 standard oil for topping up. Comma Pro-Tech oil is also to this spec and viscosity. So from your guide it appears you have a wider choice of oil than cars from 2007. The oil in your link is the one recommended for cars from 2007. I have found the sump plug washer that needs replacing is less than £1 from a dealer but other suppliers may charge several times this. I also get the oil filter from the dealer to make sure it is the correct one.
  7. On our cars if you use the remote locking button when the doors are locked the indicators flash quickly. Did you check for 12 volts at the starter motor connections ?
  8. It might be alright but the details do not mention the PSA specification. If you look in your warranty/maintenance book it will give you the recommended oil which will most likely be Total INEO ECS 5w-30 and will include the PSA spec reference. Your Citroen dealer will sell this for around £33 for 5 litres but it is available on ebay for about £24 for 5 litres. Personally I would use the Total oil and I use it for our cars.
  9. You could always use the parts diagrams and your VIN (VIS) to see what is on your car. This is a free service if you register as an other professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres?
  10. Welcome to the forum. I have deleted your other similar topic and included it here so any replies are in the same place. The OP has not been on the forum for 2 years so we will never know if their problem was fixed. Our C3 fan and engine high temp warning recently came on continuously and the dealer replaced one of the engine temperature sensors as a recall had just been issued for faulty sensors on the EP engines. So it may be worthwhile visiting your dealer service department.
  11. From your other topic, It is a 2008 C5 2.0 HDI+VTR so a 2008 on C5(X7). The fault code from on here gives P1351 IDM Input Circuit Malfunction/ Ignition Coil Control Circuit High Voltage which probably refers to a petrol car so may not mean anything but if you used a Lexia code reader it may come back as a glow plug fault with a different code. This would not stop it turning over on the starter though. Have you been able to check for 12 volts at the starter large cable and then at the starter solenoid when the ignition switch is used ? If there is an immobilser problem you may get a message saying that. You could have a look at the fuse list in your handbook and see if any are relevant and look in the engine fuse box to see if anything is not right. Also try the spare key.
  12. Welcome to the forum. Some of the early cars had a diesel fuel filter that had a bimetal strip element in them that altered the fuel flow direction within the filter depending on temperature. These were prone to failing and stopping the cars when cold. There was a case were coastline taxis had a car in the workshop which ran ok but once outside in the cold would cut out and it took some effort before the cause was found. You may find some parts evolve over the years but the main change was a face lift in 2004. Have a look at the Common Problems pinned topic in the C5 technical section for some things to look out for.
  13. Welcome to the forum, your sd card sounds similar to what I remember reading.
  14. Welcome back. The Picasso forum needs to be joined separately to this one. If you have tried to use your login details for this forum it will explain why it has not worked.
  15. Thankyou for getting back to us on how this job has been done. It seems a lot more than the Citroen procedure mentioned.
  16. Still have a look at the battery and starter connections in case one is loose and to check if the ignition switch is not always making a good contact and giving 12 volts to the starter solenoid. Was the starter motor recently put on a new one ? You could also have a look in the engine fusebox to see if there has been any water ingress. In a December 2014 Car Mechanics article a 2005 2.0 petrol C5 would not start and it turned out the engine fusebox had failed (after replacing the coil pack, fuel pump and getting more fault codes). A new fusebox was £100 + vat from Citroen and fusebox failure is a common problem on Citroens and Peugeots.
  17. Welcome to the forum. We have other members from Australia and if you post a topic on here or a more local forum (Aussie Frogs ?) you may get recommendations on mechanics/garages. The best manual to get is the Citroen service box which comes on 3 dvds to install on your pc and covers all Citroen models. ebay is a good source for this. It includes the workshop procedures, parts diagrams and wiring diagrams. I had a few high mileage Saabs before Citroens but found I was spending all my weekends fixing them whereas the Citroens have been low mileage and have not been much more than normal servicing. Citroens also tend not to rust compared to other makes. You can see the parts diagrams as a free service on the service.citroen site if you register as an other professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club. http://service.citroen.com/do/changerParametres . Use your VIN (VIS) top left to find your car. To remove the central console the service box procedure for the normal gear box is as follows and may apply to your car and a look at the parts diagrams will help (look under Equipment, Fascia panel assembly, Panel on dashboard): Remove :The rear cover at the back end and then the revealed nutThe handbrake trim/gaiter - should just pull offThe gear lever gaiterThe small cover at the front end below the heater controls and then the revealed boltsDisconnect the connectors from the following components :The cigar lighterThe window winder buttonsRemove the central console. I do not know what is wrong with the gear controls, maybe it is a problem with the selector lever. Possibly a diagnostic check using the Citroen Lexia will indicate the fault. Chinese copies of the Lexia are available to install on a lap top and if you look on the C8 and Petrol, Diesel, LPG sections Simple has some experience using and installing one and there are pinned notes on this.
  18. As well as above, if you have a volt meter, check for 12 volts at the starter large cable and when trying the ignition switch check for 12 volts at the solenoid to see if it is getting power. The engine earth cable is probably connected somewhere on the gearbox so needs its connections and condition of it checking.
  19. I guess once the fluid runs out the dpf will block so you will get messages about that. You could just add 1 litre for now though and the rest later.
  20. The following is based on Citroens procedures and a complete fill needs 3 litres for the manual gearbox 2.0 hdi which lasts about 75k miles. The colour of the push button on the connector on the filling tube (1) on the side of the eolys tank tells you what type of additive is used. ESSENTIAL : Observe the safety and cleanliness recommendations.1. Recommended toolsAdditive tank filling kit.2. RefillingCAUTION : This operation is to be carried out when replacing the additive tank or after checking the additive level.ESSENTIAL : Respect the safety and cleanliness recommendations that are specific to high pressure diesel injection (HDi) engines.ESSENTIAL : For all work on the additive circuit, wear safety goggles and hydrocarbon resistant gloves.CAUTION : After switching off the ignition: wait 15 minutes before disconnecting the battery, to ensure that the initialisations of the various ECUs are memorised.CAUTION : Keep the boot open - probably only needed if the battery is disconnected.Disconnect the battery - not sure if this is needed.Put the vehicle on a hoist (this is to give access under the car but other methods will suffice - jack and axle stands. Do not go under the vehicle without axle stands if you have hydractive suspension but this also applies to normal sprung suspension.) Remove the left hand rear underbody protection.Uncouple the tube (1) from the side of the eolys tank (the picture is not clear but the other end of the tube should still be connected on the tank).Couple the additive container to the tube (1) using the adaptor and pipe (3 with tap and filler union) from the filling kit. Screw on the filler union onto the additive container.Place the additive container on some steps or similar so it is about the height of the door handle so the fluid will run out to the tank.Open the valve located on the filler union.Tilt the additive container to assist completion of filling.Close the tap.Remove :The filler unionThe pipe (3)Connect the tube (1) back on the eolys tank.Refit the underbody protection.CAUTION : Perform the operations to be carried out following reconnection of the battery.Reconnect the battery.CAUTION : In the event of complete refilling of the additive tank, reset the diesel fuel additive ECU counter. If not done the low level message will continue to be given but fluid should still be dosed.3. Recommendations for cleanlinessESSENTIAL : The filling kit should be recycled after the repair. Any container of "Eolys" additive that has been opened should not be kept.ESSENTIAL : The refilling kit, containers that have been opened and empty containers must in no circumstances be reused. If I remember, I will later move this topic to the C5 section.
  21. Welcome to the forum. Some info is included in this topic but we do not know if the poster carried out the work since we have not yet had a reply http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/22781-roof-rubber-strips/
  22. I am sure I read on here that the sd can be bought through ebay for a lot less than this.
  23. I am guessing you are selecting your car after loginning in on the service.citroen site. You can just put your car VIN (VIS) top left in the box and it will pick your car. The VIN can be seen on the V5C document and on the car at the bottom of the windscreen passenger side from the outside, it begins V7... Otherwise, select C3 (A51), leave the body style blank, select your engine or again leave blank and then click on Confirm. If you just want the handbook though you do not need to login, use this link for the handbooks, select your language if not already yours, then your car (C3 new) and then the year http://service.citroen.com/ddb/ Sedan will be the only body option since an estate is not available, 5PTES will be short for 5 portes (French for doors), not sure what the NOW means or the mixed silhouettes.
  24. Sometimes if the battery voltage is low on Citroens they can give odd electrical problems. Before starting the engine it should be about 12.5 volts and when running about 14.4 volts.
  25. Arak81 sorted his headlight adjuster switch by replacing some bulbs, have a look at his topic http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/23190-headlight-levelling-is-not-working-where-is-the-fuse-for-it/
