According to the Haynes manual, the blower resistor is located at the right side of the heater unit in the driver's footwell and is accessed by removing the soundproofing under the driver's side of the facia. It is held by 2 screws. I have noted (probably from on here somewhere) that when the resistor fails on manual aircon the fan only works on speed no. 4 but on dual air con the fan does not work at all and the fan display will show but then go blank.

C5 X7/mk3 2.0 Hdi Exclusive: Tyre/transmission Noise
paul.h replied to nemdis's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
For some other things to check on your car, have a look at the C5 Technical section Common Problems pinned topic with steering rack oil leaks being one to check and possibly prevent by greasing the column input shaft to prevent it rusting. -
Welcome to the forum. In the Car Mechanics May 2015 issue there is a detailed article removing and replacing the broken spindles in a C5 with lots of photos. It involves removing the air con heating system from the car so is a big job but it is worth getting a copy of the magazine. Also have a look at the C5 Technical section Common Problems pinned topic for this problem.

Whilst it is being serviced get the mechanic to check the fuel cap sensor, maybe there is a problem with its wiring or the wiring connector needs a clean. He can also check its resistance with a meter - the internet search came up with some values http://www.peugeotforums.com/forums/307-38/p1446-p2408-codes-23052/ I can not really comment on the alternative service parts, I have always got mine from the Citroen dealer, finding their prices are not much different to places such as eurocarparts and getting genuine parts they are always the right ones. Also my the dealer is only 1 mile away whereas going elsewhere would involve a 10 mile trip.

How To Tell If A C3 Has Traction / Stability Control ...?
paul.h replied to steveharman's topic in C3 - Technical
Welcome to the forum. We had a 2003 1.4 petrol SX and that did not have esp (electronic stability programme) but I never had any problem with skidding and it was one of our better cars for driving/setting off in the snow (with normal careful driving in such conditions), better than our 1.6 hdi 110 bhp C4. In a 2006 sales brochure for the C3 only the VTR hdi is listed as having esp as standard. The optional safety pack was available on the exclusive and VTR petrol and it included side window air bags, ESP and traction control. So you could check it is the right model, look for the air bag at the top of the central pillar above the seat belt fastening and on other Citroens with ESP there has been a button on the central console or dash with ESP on for switching it off in snow/slippy conditions so you could set off. -
Welcome to the forum. You may not get any/many replies to this here since there are not many DS3 owners on this site, so I have linked your topic from another forum. If this was my car I would be asking for the car to be taken back and getting my money back. http://www.ds3club.co.uk/showthread.php?13984-Ds-3-darklight

You need the Citroen Lexia diagnostic equipment to do this. Chinese copies are available on ebay to install on a lap top but you should take the car back to the garage who caused the problem and get them to fix it since any other way will cost you.
-
You could try a dealer for a new one, I think I read somewhere (Car Mechanics ?) that Citroen have reduced the cost of these to something reasonable. On ebay you would be better using the Citroen part no. from the parts diagrams. If not done already, register on the service.citroen.com site as an other professional and a member of the Citroen Owners Club.

Citroen C5 2.0 Hdi Vter Saloon Electrics Problems Resolved
paul.h replied to gpn65-15's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
Welcome to the forum. A low battery voltage can give odd electrical problems and should be the first thing to check so thank you for your topic. I have moved the topic in to a subsection since ones outside of one do not show after a few days. -
A low battery voltage can give all sorts of odd electrical problems so is the first thing to check. In the C5 Technical section there is a Common Problems pinned topic with a procedure for disconnecting/reconnecting the battery. In that section there is also one for a BSI reset.

From one of your posts, your car is a 2004,54 plate, 2.0 hdi. The problem could be any of the ones you suggest as well as the fan speed resistor controller. The handbook for our 2007 C5 in the engine fuse box has F11 40 amp air conditioning blower, so this could be the fuse for the fan.

C5 X7/mk3 2.0 Hdi Exclusive: Tyre/transmission Noise
paul.h replied to nemdis's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
If you have large diameter alloys these are known for being noisy on the C5 (X7), tyre changes can make a bit of difference but one member has put sound proofing on to help http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/10660-c5-tourer-road-noise/page-2?hl=%2Bsound+%2Bproofing&do=findComment&comment=77097 -
If you think the suspension is going up/down whilst parked, leave the front wheels pointing forward. Do you have anything none standard on the car such as a phone charger, sat nav, not the original radio, is the glovebox light going off (should work any way only when the ignition is on), if the radio is on or a door open without the engine on does it go into eco mode quickly ?

From your other post about the filler cap sensor fault, it could be this is preventing the eolys fluid being dosed and hence the cause of the dpf blocking. So I would have the sensor fixed before doing anything to the dpf. Unfortunately the other moderators are not available to help with the forum for quite some time and other members rarely offer any help, possibly due to a lack of knowledge or time.
-
An internet search suggests the fuel cap sensor needs replacing. In the fuel filler cap will be 2 magnets that work the sensor switch when the cap is removed and put back again which tells the car to dose the eolys fluid in to the fuel tank. This sensor will be located somewhere near the filler cap inside the car wing

Welcome to the forum. On the C5 technical section there is a pinned topic with Common Problems that is worth looking at but most things are for earlier models.

I would have thought any decent garage would be able to replace the steering rack and you need to specify you want a reconditioned one to keep the cost down. Let the garage source it though so they are responsible for all of the job in case anything goes wrong. johntom has not been on the forum since January but if you sent a message he would get a notification by email if you wanted to know where he had the work done. To do this, move your mouse pointer over his name and when the details box shows, click on send message. There are a few more topics linked in the Common Problems topic: 25. New C5 (mark 3/X7) steering rack oil leaks - at least 8 cases so far. We have 2 members jefflad and Howiec with steering rack leaks that are proving difficult to fix. Where the supply and return pipes join the rack, the seals are leaking fluid. It seems Citroen want to replace the pipes to fix this and that just replacing the O-ring seals does not work. Citroen also do not sell the seals separately. An additional 2 members, Parkesie and johnfing, have found a leak from the steering column shaft input seal on top of the steering rack, which initially was thought to be the pipe seals. This seal also is not available so replacement racks have been fitted. The column shaft has badly rusted so may be the cause of the leak - applying grease could possibly prevent this. Seehttp://www.citroen-o...uid/#entry75684 . See also this topic for info on replacing the rack http://www.citroen-o...ent/#entry81594 There are 2 more cases here and one being caused by corrosion of the rack where the alloy oil pipes connecthttp://www.citroen-o...-leaking-fluid/ Have a look at this topic from C5greener for another leak point in the piping near the rack http://www.citroen-o...-steering-leak/

Thankyou for getting back to us, it is appreciated when the outcome of a topic is known. Many topics are left open ended with the result that it is never known if advice has worked and whether providing help has been a waste of time.

The weather people are predicting snow this weekend so if you have any try the car brakes to see if the abs works since it should give the pump and valves a workout without using diagnostic equipment.
-
Rather than the sensor being at fault, it could be the thermostat . Faulty sensors tend to fail and show a high temperature soon after the engine is started.

In the turbo oil feed pipe there is supposed to be a small filter in the banjo bolt at the engine block end of the oil feed pipe and it should be removed using a small screwdriver. If the turbo fails this pipe should be replaced and the filter removed. If you are going to do this then I would replace the pipe or at least check it is clean internally. The pipe may be Citroen part no. 037968, the banjo bolts holding it have different part nos. inlet and outlet and also depending on the car VIN have different nos. - you may be able to clean them and re-use them. The copper sealing washers on these bolts are part no. 015708 and 4 are needed, 2 for each end of the pipe/banjo bolt. To tighten the top bolt a 8.5 mm diameter rod/drill should be placed between the neck of the round end fitting (where it joins the bolt hole round section) of the pipe and the turbo casing and the bolt tightened to 30 Nm. The bottom bolt needs a 7.5 mm rod/drill held between the pipe end fitting and the engine block and done up to 30 Nm. This way the pipe should remain in the centre of the neck of the end fittings to avoid any stress. I am not too sure about doing oil flushes. They can dislodge oil deposits/carbon that has built up and if not removed by the oil change and flush then these may block the oil filter and oil ways.

Welcome to the forum. I have had to split your post into sentences so it will be easier for people to read and hopefully be able to offer help. ESP/ASR could be all sorts of things and a diagnostic check may help find the problem without having to spend too much time or money. Possibilities can include an abs fault, a brake switch fault, a steering angle sensor fault or needing calibrating, a low battery voltage if the battery is in need of replacement or just charging up, others. It sounds as if the garage has done something with the steering wheel/air bag/switches under the steering wheel , so it is possible they have disturbed the steering angle sensor which is in this area and it may need calibrating or possibly they have caused some damage.

Citroen C8 2.2 Hdi -Bulb Gone In Heater Control Display.
paul.h replied to skycamvideo's topic in Technical Section - C8
If it is on the panel below the gear lever, the panel needs unclipping by pulling upwards and there should be bulbs on the back to replace. To completely remove the panel the gear knob and gaiter need removing first. -
The OP has not been on the forum since June 21st so it may be better to send a private message and if he has email alerts set up he will get it. Quickest way to do this is to move your mouse pointer over his name and then when the box appears with details, click on send message.
