C5 Camshaft Exhaust Pulley (2003 Petrol)
coastline taxis replied to garethb's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
The dampner is there to help reduce vibration. to much vibration can throw the pulley of the camshaft which will end up with bent valves or a replacement engine. cant really see anyone giving advice on that as the end result could be pretty bad. So i think the choice has to be yours. but for what its worth i wouldnt as its just to risky -
was talking to the lads in town center citroen parts the other day and they were saying that the sales of fuel filters is right up the last couple of months

Heater Restrictor - Blower Resistor Pack
coastline taxis replied to spiritof69's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
if you have manual heating and the resistor goes the heater will blow on no 4 only. if you have the dual climate (all electric) the blower wont work at all and the fan display will come on then go blank -
When they make the instruction manual they do a one covers all regardless of wether your car has that spec or not. Plug it into lexia and enable it and itl do what you want it to do. I think its down to just generation money for the dealers and thats why it isnt activated when you buy them and its not just that function that is switched off theres quite a few.

Make sure you use a engine flush b4 while doing the service and the oil must be the low ash type accept nothing else

Another 1.6 and another turbo im saying nowt other that we should have a section were owners can put there name so we could add them all up. Anyway dont acept another turbo as it will fail if your taking the car back then demand a new engine as its the only way to resolve it. ford wont replace a turbo on a 1.6 anymore they replace the engine

Cam Belt Snapped - Notification
coastline taxis replied to Miles More's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
probally be cheaper to put a second hand engine with less miles in. What we do is chuck the service schedule away as the cars are running every day. timing belts are done every year also all fluids brake.lds, antfreeze etc etc. your in the same game as us so itl come straight of your tax bill -

coastline taxis replied to UVG's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
That wont be the original radio thats causing that. yours has had a replacement and youl have to learn to live with it. But it does switch itself back of when the ecu goes to sleep -

coastline taxis replied to EllaDS3's topic in Citroen DS Range
Arnt the dealers supposed to check them when they come from the factory before they go up for sale. pre delivery check i think. Anyway id be going mental with them and certinly wouldnt want the car back. Demand a new one as itl never be right as theres just to many elictricals etc etc -

Clean Diesel Filter - Clean Or Remove?
coastline taxis replied to grimble's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
you seem capable enough to do it yourself. remove the filter from the car. very straight forward one look and you know what bolts/nuts to take off. Insert jetwash into hole on filter pull trigger on jetwash. refit the filter -

A New Problem Has Risen - Air Flow Issue ?
coastline taxis replied to Vin1100's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
Another 1.6 eats a turbo, Do yourself a favour and wash your hands of it or it will haunt you. ford now have a mandate that if a turbo goes on a 1.6 they replace the engine, but if your wanting to have a go then pull the vacum pump off and chck for gunge in there annd also check for oil in the servo as ive seen them dump oil in the servo when the turbo goes and it restricts the air to the engine and causes lack of power till you get the revs built up. -
hello and welcome to the forum. The diagnostic port is in the glove box for mk 1 and 2 c5s and under the center console armrest on a mk3 you really need lexia diagnostics or a top end scanner to get at any faults on a c5. could you pm me the reg of the car your buying also it wouldnt be near seaburn metro station would it. As we are just 4 miles down the road to sunderland and have just offloaded a very sick 2,2 mk3 c5. If you do a quick search on the forum we have just finished a topic on the common problems on the mk3s

if its the joint your replacing then slide the boot back then prize each ball bearing out with a screwdriver and the outer part of the joint will come away leaving just the inner race. You can then put the shaft in a vise and remove the inner race at your liesure and on your own.mind its more fun with two people doing it because you can have a game of marbles with the ball bearings and yes we have played marbles)
