  1. im sorry if my reply upset you but the 1.6 engine in a nice car like a c5 is wrong in my opinion only and not this sites. Anyway down to buisness what you must watch out for on the oil side of a 1.6 is the risk of oil contamination and that is why you MUST put a oil flush in before you change the oil and you Must use a low ash oil. A good sign that a flush hasnt been used is the oil going black very quick. Lets say the oil already in the engine is coming to the end of its life and it gets drained and refilled without a flush then the new oil is contaminated straight away due to old oil in the turbo and vacum pump on the 2 and 2.2 engines its not that big of a problem but on the 1.6 its a major issue as it has to work a lot harder. So use a flush everytime and also low ash oil. Discount stores will tell you that ordinary5w30 will do well it wont but most people ignore this as the 5w30 is a lot cheaper to buy. Next whoever you use for your repairs get them to remove the oil feed pipe to the turbo at the engine block and remove the filter that is in the pipe as this filter clogs and cuts the oil of to your turbo and kills it. Other preventive measure weve taking on 1.6 engines is to remove the sump and give it a good clean out ( its a lot easier than it sounds)as the oil starts to turn like jelly even on cars that are serviced regular. And dont be surprised when the new oil you put in has consistancy as a can of coke
  2. for non starters the codes arnt much help at all. use your lexia and go to live data and what your looking for when cranking it over is rpm needle should be at 250 ish if not then check battery voltage/supply and starter fuel pressure should be 260ish when cranking. if not then start checling the fuel components cam and crank syncronisation If not then check sensors and wiring/fuses etc etc immobilisor/key/ecu syncronisation. if nor then start checking key fob/fuses/wiring Any of the above will stop the fuel flowing. When your in live data switch to graphs and youl be able to see if the crank is working before you order a new one
  3. coil pack or airflow meter but either way you need to get it plugged in before you can sort this problem out
  4. Pull out the air filter and you might have to remove some piping then its on top of the box held on with a 10mm bolt and a 2 wire multiplug
  5. Sounds like a diesel leak. If its been running say for a hour and you switch it off will it start straight away. check your fuel lines and filter to make sure there are no leaks also can you check what pressure is at your fuel rail when turning it ove
  6. What area are you in as some of the members on tis forum might have a lexia and do it for free for you
  7. Not sure about this but i think its down to how they set them up before going on the road as each spec level has certain features. And if you get a lexia its just a case of going in and switching on what you want. like i say im not a 100 per cent on it but just remember reading something somewhere
  8. Now why would you want the stereo on when you could spend all day listening to that twin turbo v6 puring. But if you must drown out a lovley sound with music change your head unit as it sounds like one of the output chips is on its way out
  9. Spray the black terminal red or put a + on it and we had one in just the other month that had done exactly the same thing so your not alone
  10. Google 1.6 hdi turbo sit back and read the storys then look for something different
  11. ok and did you check the wiring that goes to the filler neck. As theres a sensor that gets its reading from the magnets as theres a trick that can be done by disconecting these wires. So best check them and if they are unpluged then replug them
  12. Yes but did you check the actual cap itself as many will fit but only the one for a 2.2 has the magnets in the cap
  13. Maybe a good idea to phone local dealers up and see if they could tell you if theyve had your car in and any work theyve done to it so that your nor going over old ground. Did you get anywhere with the fuel cap
  14. Yep it works of the radio but the car has had a aftermarket stereo fitted so theres nothing getting adjusted.
  15. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but Unfortunatly your second time around affair with a citroen is doomed from the start. why because youve getting a 1.6 which eats turbos faster than a drunk.eats a curry Thats why there going so cheap. Remapping Well its a funny thing at the moment because one of the questions on your insurance is " have you altered the vehicle fron the manufactures specifications" Emm yes i have. A 1.6 relies heavily on the turbo so remaping it to give out even more isnt a good idea. Also stick rigidly to the service schedule and flush the engine at every oil change and use the correct oil. But at least youve joined the forum so welcome and hello
  16. Thats just what i was thinking. tried that link and it not valid john
  17. Done some work on a c3 desire today and had to remove the battery anyway come to set the time and date and have to say "HOW DO YOU DO IT " autodata says use buttons on the side of the display but it dosnt have any and cant see any anywhere.it has the usual modes on the end of the wiper stalk but thats all.
  18. Nope its hollow inside, And this isnt a trick or anything. I havnt a clue what it is but would like to know its made out of plastic and has a metal band with citroen wrote on it and it has a spike like nipplle on the top of it
  19. cheers john got one pic on but its saying the rest are to big. So how do i resize them please. Anyway i put this item on a piece of A4 paper so as to see the size of it also its hollow inside
  20. Clearing out me tool box today and came across this. Dont know what it is or where i got it from and have never seen one before. so does anyone know what it is
  21. The reason im telling les to forget about the egr codes at present is for the egr valve to work it relies on 3 things 1 the egr valve 2 a actuator solonoid 3 info from the differential pressure sensor So if the particle filter is partily clogged the pressure sensor will be given out wrong readings. Re the mass air flow the quickest and easiest way to check it is a follows. Unplug the mass airflow and drive the car and if it runs worse that it nornally does then air mass is ok
