  1. Have noticed a lot of topics regarding the antipollution faults and the price to put it rights. I dont own any 2.2 but cant help wondering on the following points Puegot and citroen both share the same engines 2.0 and 2.2 hdi ive had a quick look on the puegot forum and cant see any mention of the anti pollution fault on the 2.2 So if that is the case does it mean that it is a citroen add on component that shows up the a/pol fault. could parts be taking of the pugs engine to cure a/p fault or would the software not allow this or am i just waffling on because im bored ha ha
  2. Many thanks to teckbod and dfk car now sorted and flew through the emissions test. After leaving the site last night my plan was to clean/check both 02 sensors and the cat. But before coming onto site my plan was to start with serviceing and possible injectors as scanner was showing no code faults.Anyway got the car up in the air and there was the fault the back of the cat and the rear 02 sensor lokked like they had been flattend with something (if you can imageing the exhaust lying on the ground youd think it had been hit repeatedley with a hammer). Removed the 02 sensor and it was bent removed cat and it sounded like a babys rattle replaced both and car now fine. Asked the tester at taxi bay why he hadnt mentioned it and he said "because it wasnt blowing it wasnt a failure" so once again many thanks
  3. Was it an explosion or was air filter blocked and when you fired car up it imploded the air trunking also is car running now or not. On a serious note i would take it straight to the dealers and have it checked properly as you realy cant take any chances with something like that. Many many years ago it would of been classed as a backfire and was quite commen but now with high pressure fuel system you just cant muck around with them and in this case it is definatley a job for the professionals
  4. Hi there when you open car can you hear the hydraulic pump coming in or not also when engine is running and you try to raise vehicle via the switches inside the cab can you hear the pump going
  5. Thanks very much as theres no substitute for experience
  6. Do you mind if i pm you with any future problems as i now have 3 working c5 1 for spares and 2 getting sorted to go on the road. i think they are great cars and ideal for what i need them for. This is also a good site for info and the only fault i can see on it is that people dont have the common courtesy of a return psting to say "thanks that advice worked" other than that its a topper site
  7. thanks for the info might put the car back on the road then. i take it that diagnostics is your field
  8. Thanks for that will clean it tommorow and get back to you. While your hear i have another c5 automatic diesel that i was going to convert over to manual would the ecu need to be altered as it would be expecting a signal from the autobox and not getting a return as it would have a manual box in it therfore putting mil on and going into limp home mode
  9. Sorry your right that was the one. we replaced that and the throttle position sensor but it is still showing rich/lean b4 and after the cat on the live data
  10. Dont think it will do you much good to tar all dealers with the same brush. If you new what the fault was why didnt you stand your ground with the dealer and refuse to pay and get trading standards involved

  12. Well my very first c5 died today.Bought her 3 years ago with 35000 on the clock she was only 4 and a half when i got her. Since then she went on to work doing roughly a thoushand miles a week with no time of ever. Not even a single day when she didnt go out on the road satrting at 7am and working till 2am. this car never ever broke down obviosly she had her fair share of tyres, ball joints, and droplinks, But after a severe heart attack in the automatic gearbox with a 185000 on the clock it was decided to give her early retirement and spend the rest of her days sitting in the corner of the garage. She did however sign a organ donor card so she will live on in the other 3 i have ha ha ha. Now down to buisness bought a 51 plate 1.8 petrol 1 owner full dealer service history to replace the retired one. Took it in for local taxi test and it failed on the emmision basicley they were bouncing all over the place. Brought it back to the yard and plugged the scanner in it came op with p1110 which turned out to be a air temp sensor. Phoned town center citroen for advice and was told of the workshop that it was one of 2 sensors Air intake sensor and pedal position sensor so both were replaced (against the dealers advice which was to take car to them) now when we plug the car in the code has gone but the emmisions are still high/low. So we then switched scanner to live data and noticed 2 things the o2 sensors before and after the cat are both showing lean then switching to rich then back to lean/rich/lean would/could these sensors need replacing in order to put the emissions right. Only had the car for just over a week and would have thought the emissions were fine as when i drove it back from where i bought it (Cleethorpes) It did 160 miles for £18 which gives a consumption of well into the 40s per gallon many thanks
  13. Think that the job is a bit more involved than what you think. The tank and fuel lines will need to be drained and cleaned to get rid of the contaminated fuel then i would imagine a diagnostic needs to be done just to check the engine afterwards. If you take the vat (which the dealers collect but dont keep) of the bill then i would say that the bill is resonable and you also have the warranty on these parts
  14. I would think that if the dealers says it needs speres then it needs them. Dealers get a slagging off for there charges but just look at what your getting for your money (job done right, genuine parts, warrenty and peace of mind). Now im not saying dealers for everything but there comes a point where you have let the dealers do it. rather you than me half way up a mountain and the car breaks down. Try to forget the millage issue and use the time factor if you look at your service book it say 24000 miles or every 2 years etc etc its there for a reason good luck
  15. Or a £1000 when it snaps and you have to replace the head.7 years in various temperatures diferents speeds and strains on it also not to mention any contamination of the belt through oil or water. Think id be changing it just for the peace of mind factor as 7 years is a long time.
  16. For the price and the work that is involved in doing the job i would just put another t/state in. Its a easy job 2/3 bolts and easy to get at 20 mins max. Im not saying there is a fault as the t/state can sometimes stick open but have seen it loads of times that when there is overheatin issues pull the t/state out and let the engine run cold a normal sign is warm and not hot air comming through the heaters.
  17. is the heating inside the van working ok if it was mine id be checking the rad cap ( check the rubber seal or better still go to dealers and replace it) the thermostat (could be stuck open or may have been removed to resolve overheatin issues) as after a 400 mile journey you should no be able to open rad cap as the system should be pressurized
  18. Whats the history on your timming belt as your thinking that because the vehicle has only done 25000 miles. it shouldnt need some things. If you bring the age factor into it then you realy need to do some serious checks on the vehicle before setting off. Think the dealer would be your best option as they know these cars inside and out and tell them what your doing (they might even give you discount for a advert on your car). A breakdown in a foreign country will cost you a lot more in money and time Anyway best of luck in what your doing.
  19. its a snapon ethos scanner with the s key. it works fine on all the c5s i have and has been accurate in the codes it has shown in the past It gives you the choice of trouble codes, engine management, suspension, abs, air bags and transmission you choose wich section you want i choose transmission it then comes up with a choice of serial numbers for the boxes then it showes the fault codes for the box wich was showing p2202. if i was to change it to manual would the ecu show up fault codes with not getting a signal back from the gearbox and put the car in limp mode many thanks steve
  20. Could it be possible that wish having to reve the hell out of the engine to get it to move that it has thrown up this fault code . cleared the code and it hasnt come back
  21. No the car runs fine apart from autobox it just dosent know what gear it wants to be in. Its fine when cold or just been reset but after a couple of miles it just wont drive. Many thanks for trying though steve.
  22. Re my earlier listing about c5 autobox al4 type. it drove perfect again today the when warmed up it goes into automatic gear fault. Today though it is showing up a fault on the ethos scanner. It say the code is p2202. I cant find this code anywhere phoned dealers and they said they would try and find out. Anybody had this code before or any ideas as to what it might be.
  23. Hi it makes all the difference in the world when you come back and tell people that the problem has been sorted and the cost. cheers
