  1. Having just told another customer that he needs a high pressure pump 500 quid he didnt react at all (most burst into tears and call citroen horrible names). turns out hes a retired ships engineer. Anyway he asked us all about what the pump does and at what pressure etc etc. He then asked us to keep the car as he will be back with a pump that he intends to make over the weekend and have us fit monday as he reckons its no problem at all for a 12v electric pump to produce that pressure. So heres hoping
  2. It either the lock or one of the rods have come up either way you got to take the door panel of on the inside to get at it and get the door open.W is the car hpi or hdi and how much you wanting for it
  3. Hi I take it that its the round tube type with a bit pipe at either end. it next to the tank on the drivers side. if you cant see it check for 2 jubilee clips together on the fuel line in case its had it taken out and pipe pushed together
  4. Hi ive got a elm 327 had it about 3 months and it just dosnt work. Have realised now that in order to be able to do anything with it im going to have to pay for the upgrade disc. Also the usb interface that comes with it isnt very good so you need to pay more to get the serial lead interface cheers steve
  5. Hi to remove the wire clip that holds the bulb in just press the top in and move slightly to the left to put back in push and move to the right and that bulb is in the right way with the nipple piece pointing down or youl lose yore pattern
  6. Try bosal on the internet very cheap
  7. test 1 If the pedal is going hard and not working the brakes then it is showing signs of the servo. Go to the brake resorvoir and behind it there looks like a big black cirlcle as you look at it theres a pipe on the bottom left. Unplug the pipe its just pushed in with a bit rubber to seal it. now try the brakes and see if theres any difference also take the pipe of at both ends and check for blockages and leaks test 2 with the engine running pump the pedal up hard keep the pressure on the switch the engine of and lets know what the brake pedal does
  8. Nope there a sealed unit sorry. Just had a look on ebay and theres 2 hpi in the scrappys dont know if the pumps are on them or not
  9. Hi Are you doing this with the engine running or not
  10. Hello got to go to work so ill ask quickly 1 was the pedal firm b4 you split the rear caliper 2 what bleed sequence are using 3 what dot brake fluid are you using 4 when was fluid last changed as it has a life span also let the car stand for a bit as with all the pumping the fluid will become unstable and have tiny air bubbles in it we normally leave them overnight cheers
  11. 000000 I think that kind of desion is best left to the moderator ha ha
  12. Hi sorry to hear of your car and dont want to appear full of doom and gloom but if you turn the table round you might understand it a bit better. Lets say you sold a car 5 years ago and when selling it you tell the new owners to bring it back to you every so many miles so you can check it over and make sure its kept at its best. You then never see the car again till 5 years later when someone you never even sold the car to in the first place turns up and wants some money of you what would your answer be. I know you havent had the car 5 years but look at citroens point of view. Ive got the citroen service schedule at work il check it as im sure there a check done on the belt for tension/wear etc etc if the car was serviced at citroen it would of been done My advice would be to just get a engine from the scrappys (450 quid i can give you a number where there are 5 of them sitting in a yard) put a new belt/waterpump/clutch on it and enjoy the c8 there superb vehicles. Your picking up the bill for someone elses mistakes. Sorry to appear blunt but youl end up with a ulcer before anyone will own up to anything and with lack of dealer service history you havnt got a chance
  13. Any chance of a hints and tips section. Could be usefull for everyone best regards steve
  14. Give it a oil and filter change put forte diesel treatment in a quarter tank of diesel then give the car a good run down the motorway keep it in third and get it up to 70 and watch the crap come out the back and make sure the engine is nice and hot when it goes in for retest. Belive me 100.000 is nothing for a hdi engine we service one with 410.000 on it there bullet proof The handbrake could be pads or adjustment was it just under on the readings or is there no handbrake at all
  15. Snapon ethos scanner with a s50 key works on all systems on a c5
  16. If your having to break a brake pipe or change a brake pipe or caliper open a bleed nipple just enough to let the fluid drip out (preferably on the line that your going to break) now push your brake pedal all the way down and the use a bar or a piece of wood and place it between your seat and the pedal to keep it pressed down, Youve just created a vacum that will stop the fluid dripping out and dosent let your abs unit run dry also saves you brake fluid aswell
  17. Which pump washer pump/water pump/oil pump/high pressure pump on engine or low pressure pump in tank. Just checked on ebay and theres no crystal balls left so you gotta say which one

  19. Sorry forgot to mention to slacken handbrake cable off and take the cable to the lever and NEVER THE LEVER TO THE CABLE
  20. Sorry but your caliper is Knackerd i think that youve misread the instructions and tried to wind the caliper out by turning it. So get yourself another one and the fitting is as follows 1 This is assuming youve already removed the old caliper and clamped the flexi 2 Dont touch/pull/push/move anything on the caliper when you get it as its set up correctley from the manufacturer 3 Refit the new caliper and pads but not the handbrake cable 4 Bleed the caliper 5 Now pump the pedal 10 times or till the pedal feels right (this has just wound the piston out for you) 6 Now check to see if wheel can be turned while pedal is pressed( remember that youve just put new pads in so it might take a few miles for the pedal to seem normal) to make sure the caliper is working 7 Now connect the handbrake lever 8 Go inside the car and work handbrake 10 times 9 Pull handbrake up 5 notches 10 Remove rear ashtray and youll see a 10mm nut put a long reach socket on it and tighten it till both front wheels lock up 11 work handbrake lever another 10 times and then try your handbrake to see if its holding. You might have to repeat 9 and 10 12 put the kettle on youve just finished Hope this helps you
  21. HI bit confused are you trying to replace front caliper or get air out of the system because if you have air in the system then you wont be able to pump the front caliper out these c5 are one of the easiest we do. Also if youve moved the handbrake lever before moving the piston out then the caliper is shagged and you need to get a new one. Dont take this the wrong way but im struggling to understand what you want to do so could you explain it to me like i was a 2 year old Are you having trouble with front caliper Are you having trouble bleeding the system Are you having trouble with the handbrake best regards steve
  22. Hi totally agree with pinning the above and found the p.s bit very funny. Having spoke to the workshop supervisor at my local dealers and they are as just as sick with citroen as we are. Funny thing though is that the c5s i own dont seem to get as many faults as what is posted on this forum. Now while i would like to put it down to our brilliant mechanical skills i cant help wondering if its because these cars where designed to run and not little stop starts all the time. mine are on the road from 7 till 1 then 7 till 4 weekends and on a nightshift the car will do 40 hours
  23. Take it that the car is up to date on its service. does the car rev alright when in nuetral and have you had any auto transmission fault appear on the display. I take it that when you say it changes speed the car feels like it has changed down a gear
  24. Cheers tech
