inner cover? or do you mean the old boot also the track rod end screws off and make sure you take a measurement to the threads when putting it back together otherwise it will need re-tracking and that means spending unnecessary dosh

undo the bottom radiator hose then put a cap with a pipe off an old tyre pump and tape it to the header tank then plug it into your spare tyre the pressure will blow all the coolant out

yes you will need to remove the track rod end but a little tip ( put the ball joint back in to loosen the rod from the shaft ) otherwise you will have a pig of a job because the track rod rotates when your trying to undo the locking bolt

wasn't thinking of those :rolleyes: but they are motorised same as wiper blades so they have a setting and they could have froze up but probably the wd40 might be the solution ;) I had an omega that did that but they fixed them selves so probably some grit got stuck in there

this is a simple one, remove the wipers and allow the spindle to reset then put the wipers back on this rests the blade positions very common when they get frozen the spindle turns and the wiper is stuck

this has always been interesting when Citroen/+ all the others diagnose a fault and always aim at the highest costing part so they do that first then say its a combination fault and replace the cheaper part second, why on earth they do this disappoints me and its a cash tactic most main dealers are doing and this brings them down in the end, not like the old days when we looked for the real problem. the temp sensor by the way will effect the fuel pressure because its like the old choke so when cold it increases the fuel/air mix,

turn the auto air-con off and see what happens ( a tapping ring on the window means your wife has caught you ) ;)

this is a common fail with the newer xantia and to get rid of it ( fit the older manual tension type used in the BX ) the cable fits ok, the problem on the newer type is the auto tensioner where the cable goes through the bulk head it fails the older type doesn't

it sounds like a sticking thermostat not opening when hot so no heat gets to the top of the system this will be noticed when you put your hand on the water pipes and top of the radiator as they will be cold

that's relay plate 2 there are places for 10 relays and 2 fuses number 5 is for the heater blower they are laid out like this, 12 - 13 fuses then ---1 2 3 4 ------------------------ 5 6 7 8 ------------------------ 9 10

check the earth wire to the sunroof as the issue is the sunroof? is it stuck/frozen due to this bad weather? if it is then it will keep blowing the fuse until its freed up

Frozen Coolant Help Please

until the coolant has thawed out DO NOT start or run the engine you WILL blow the head gasket, use a blow heater/hair drier and leave it under the bonnet until its warmed up completely, you wont have gotten all the ice out just by changing the coolant. when you say the starter motor just turns over? check the timing belt as the water pump will be frozen and could snap the timing belt -
^^ totally agree and what I was looking at was cold start issue, the system is loosing pressure over night so a tow start builds it back up? or the fuel temp sensor has failed and the tow start is bypassing it but as kfk says have it checked by a mechanic/electrician and save time+money

the problem is ( cold start ) and that's where you need to concentrate the fuel pump in my view is out of the question, things to look at. fuel pump primer air in system, coolant temp sensor, fuel temp sensor, get the fault codes and eliminate the guessing, when the fuel pump starts to fail you will hear it and the symptoms will be obvious just having little bits of silt in there is quite normal and that's why you have a fuel filter ( fossil fuels ) it seems your not the only one with this problem I did some research and found this, Posted: Sat Dec 22, 2007 11:16 am Post subject: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Friend of mine, Amsterdam taxi driver with 2003 Citroen c5 2.0 hdi estate, has same problems. Changed fuel filter, starter motor and still car won't start - it's below zero here now. He is back in garage as we speak, loosing him money. On another dutch forum I read one 'victim's' solution after spending hours and 100dreds of euros on replacing fuel pumps etc... it was the + wire to the prime pump, bypassed it and everything's fine. I suggested my friend to have a look at this wiring problem. Did find many similar problems with Peugeot owners, must be a common fault with the hdi technology/wiring, but as usual not all faults are cause by the same problem. I don't think the fuel pump has anything to do with your problem, although the HDi engines are not my cuppa tea I would think this problem would indicate a fuel temp sensor. the reason I don't think its the pump is the fact it starts and runs and if it were the pump it would effect the car regardless of temps im sure someone will tell you where the fuel temp sensor is I don't have any data on the HDI
