  1. yes truly the XU series has been around a long time with many variants probably the best PSA developed personally don't know why they dropped it then again I cant understand why they dropped the DS as it was and still is the beauty ( personal view of course ) :(
  2. the XUD is an old engine design so when they upgraded to the c5 HDi a complete redesign was required although minor things did change to keep up with today's requirements and the later cars ie: 2007+ had the biggest changes when CAN bus was introduced and this is my main learning curve at the moment and its very interesting
  3. I agree with KFK and john because there are the obvious differences like the turbo but a (full) transplant would be ok but the ECU on each would have a different program but that's not to say you cant upgrade the BHP on the 90bhp engine by adding a turbo all for 20hp seems a little pointless :( all the bits seem to be used by both engines without much change not sure about the crank shaft as this would be a Major change and not sure citroen would invest in retooling for that ?
  4. RHZ = jumpy/dispatch 1999-04 2.0 HDi 110bhp. RHY = berlingo/C5/Xsara 90bhp ECU would be the issue because of the BHP the rest is the same you could fit either to all the cars mentioned but the BHP would be different because of the ECU chip ( like chipping/flashing ) but both will work happily and no mods required
  5. as we draw to the end of 2008 which wasn't the best time for many I hope the next will be better for all. peace to all
  6. it turns both ways the cross bar you see is for right hand then you use a spanner below the cross bar for left hand turn ( I have that tool ) its only flaw is it only has one head to turn the relevant piston depending on make of car so more heads are required for different makes but you can make it work with a little effort http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&am...sa=N&tab=wi you can also use it to push the piston back on the none hand break pistons by removing the rotating end then place the old pad over the piston then just turn and it pushes it in so you don't need to use a G clamp
  7. ahh same as the xantia then I didn't think they would be like that  but as its the same as the xantia the rear pistons just push in as its only the hand break pistons need to be turned in
  8. you don't need to bleed them you have to turn the piston and press it in at the same time ( rear only as it has the hand break ) front are just press in. http://www.eurocarparts.com/sealey/images/VS024.jpg halfords have them for £22

  10. better late than dead on time :( http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9_EJyEiHU_s happy new year to all http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=xf9cT2Y7RCw and dont let this be you  http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9M86symzuVM
  11. although things are hard for many people ( financially including me  ) but at least if you can read this your still alive :( and that's a bonus to cherish " and the fact you drive a citroen so that will add to your day of happiness :) ". be happy regardless of your religion/beliefs and don't drink and drive ( you will spill it and its better to do that in a taxi ). enjoy and be safe and well for the new year B) ps: although hes a little old now happy birthday to Jesus and hopefully help the world get better http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=EC69xFrQ-MM B)
  12. it doesn't sound right to me they should be equal back and front, check you haven't fitted gas struts on the front and oil type on the back
  13. issue is called clutch plate sticking to the fly wheel over night because of the damp weather and best way to prevent it is to depress the clutch before you start it
  14. I cant believe this guy didn't contact you ;) any resolve?
  15. its an automatic I presume? does it need tranny fluid/service, is it the tranny or a belt like the serpentine belt slipping and catching when its warmed up sometimes heard on power steering belts when they are worn and smooth so don't get a good grip, more investigating required like pinpoint the source of the noise
  16. your not the only one with this problem and lots of information out there to resolve it ;) http://forums.preloved.co.uk/fuseaction-fo...0/272fddfb.html
  17. I found this very interesting even though its a pug its still the same system used on the Citroen and hopefully it explains how the EGR effects your car I know its a bit deep but well worth the read Used on the engine is a Bosch EDC15C2 system. The Bosch ECU has the following inputs: engine speed intake airflow engine coolant temp intake air temp fuel temp camshaft position crankshaft position fuel pressure atmospheric pressure accelerator pedal position http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=h...6GB297%26sa%3DN understanding how a system works is the best way to fix it ( the domino effect ) this is the cause of much over spending and garages use it to fit new parts instead of finding the real problem
  18. Most of these green and red light probs come after the battery has been disconnected. Here is the usual remedy. Dissconnect the battery, turn the ignition on, reconnect the battery, wait about 1min, turn off the ignition, turn on, enter code and away you go.
  19. you want an Ipod it leaves the CD player for dead so tell huby to get a radio that has the plug in it for the Ipod
  20. P1402 EGR metering Orifice restricted Lucas DCN2 - EGR butterfly solenoid valve control. Short circuit to earth or short circuit to positive or open circuit. EDC15C2 - EGR: Throttle electrovalve. Short circuit to earth or open circuit.
  21. trading standards
  22. this is a difficult one because the seller knows the rules and what he does is wait the limit and no law against it ( HE/SHE WILL PAY UP ) when the time is spent because that's the law and they use that to stall/abuse/force because they know you want/bought the car and the law is in your hands so act swiftly
  23. it sounds like the contact are not connecting in the switch when you press the button so try spraying so dielectric spray in there ( can be bought from maplins ) they use it to clean computer boards and very good stuff
  24. forget the ECU swap yours is linked to your car I would suggest having it checked for fault codes then post them here so we can scrutinise them and give you a proper resolve. ps get his MAF sensor if he will part with it as this is a common issue with your problem
  25. time for new antifreeze and thermostat and bleed the system as for the electrics? is the radio live when the keys are out? if yes you have a wiring problem which is affecting your fuses and other things, if its happening in the same place on the M3! its haunted
