totally no ides but ill have a guess, is it speed related? fuel level? some of the later cars have a speed setting so you cant go over that speed so say you set it for 50mph and you went over that a warning buzzer tells you
-
both sorted and sold with a tidy profit
-
we all have that but do you have a xantia v6 to swap for my 1.8 ;)
-
the brakes work ok? and the water sound could be from the heater matrix due to air in the system
-
correct but if it has the cable it has the auto adjuster where it goes into the bulk head, the year of the car doesn't matter that much because under the skin was the same
-
just got a Lexus ls 400 on eBay ;) project toy but got the v6 activa as well with a snapped timing belt and guess what ? the head is ok and no valve damage :)

day buy day I'm learning and in the last 10 years Ive learned a lot but still learning but not to confuse the issue im well trained in the art of diagnostics :D and beyond the dealers and they employ me to sort things out

what can I say im an old tech still trying to catch up ( not that im bothered ) but cases like this should give a clear answer so as not to build a field full of bull sh1t :D

sods law is correct and chances are it down to poor connections ( remember the age of the car ) electrical things expand due to heat and that's where the connection is lost because the part fitted isn't designed to compensate, bloody complicated if you ask me but im on top of it :D

just one question, when you say fans stopped you mean inside cabin fans and not the engine cooler fan, inside blower has a resistor and when it goes you can only get windshield/windscreen demister to work at full speed if so the resistor/fan variation is shot ( very common fault ) and mostly put down to relays but not the case, full speed working only then the resistor has packed in and data provided when ( tomorrow ) :D

press and hold the button in ( then switch the ignition on ) and wait 10 seconds the service light should reset
-
never heard of a watery sound on the breaks before so could you describe it better like is it scraping of sorts like calipers catching the edge of the disc due to worn pads and and thinning discs, the MOT says the pipes will need sorting before the next MOT or they need cleaning and greasing

its been covered ut here it is again. Black Smoke This is due to a air to fuel ratio imbalance, either the fuel system is delivering too much fuel into the engine or there is not enough clean air (oxygen ) a few things to look for : Faulty injectors (injectors need attention at about 100.000 to 120 000 miles) Faulty injector pump Dirty air cleaner Turbocharger or intercooler faulty Problems within cylinder head, valves clogged up due to faulty EGR (exhaust gas recycling unit)

that's a different squeak more a clutch thrust bearing or you can hear a wheel bearing on the same side and because it get louder when going faster my prognosis would be the wheel bearing but not being there it might be something else so lets hope its the wheel bearing and not the tranny

the whole idea of not disconnecting the battery is not to reset the ECU which means you have to go through a drive cycle to reset everything so you cause more problems disconnecting it

trolling report indeed I would say its common sense and welcome to the 21st century, take the car into Citroen and have it re-calibrated ( you wont get much help with that attitude )
-
its electronically controlled but interesting since it hasn't been mentioned and well worth some research, cam sensors would be an issue when considering this problem so an extra area to check, the plot thickens  and who knows we might even sort this illusive problem since Citroen cant then we could sell them the solution

EGR = exhaust gas recirculation, just been looking at this problem on another site and this was the guys answer I copied it for you to see ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have owned the 2.2HDI SX Estate for about a year having owned virtually every Citroen to date from 2CV on. My last two vehicles were both Xsara Estates (not Picasso) and I traded up to the bigger C5 in order to tow a caravn and hump more gear to and from France. I went for the 2.2 HDI engine because I found that the 2.0 was far too slow through the gears compared to the Xsara which went like the wind. The 2.2 is quite nippy for such a large vehicle. I particularly like the different suspension heights and in fact used the highest one (max 6mph) to crawl through a flood yesterday. Also like the Sports setting which takes two of the suspension spheres out of commission thereby hardening up the suspension and reducing body roll on country roads as well as improving handling. I bought the vehicle at about 40000 miles (03) and in a year I have done 20000 miles. I have had it serviced twice at a local independent Citroen servicing centre and costs have been quite high. It seems to go through tyres as in that 20000 miles I have had to purchase 3, each about £60. Overall reliabaility is good but like numerous other 2.2 owners I have suffered, and still suffer from the phantom anti pollution sensor problem ie. the ESP Electronic Stability light comes on indicating a fault and immediately after another light (small engine shape) and words Service lit up. The display also indicates an 'anti pollution' fault and the ECU goes into limp home mode with only about 2500 rpm available in any gear. This first happened on the M25 with a caravan on the back - I kept going at 40mph until a rest area. Having switched off and left it for a couple of mins I switched back on and started up. The ESP light has gone out, revs are back but the anti pollution message persists - this goes out afet a couple of days and its back to square one. Computer diagnosis deoes not reveal the fault and it is not the Particulate Filter. This has now happened on numerous occasions to me and also to dozens of other people on the net. Noone seems to know the answer and it has spoiled what has been a super car for me and I will be trading in ASAP - what a pity. Overall MPG 40.3

check the wiring to the coolant temp sensor see if they are shorting out or plug connection pins need cleaning you will find it where the thermostat housing is
-
push fittings now that's good and about time, the older systems are a totally different setup due to priming where the newer cars don't need that

Lights Bliking Or Fadeing .... Advice Please
techbod replied to CITROEN-NUTS's topic in Problems and Fixes - C5
any excess load on the alternator will make them fade slightly but not flicker that's a totally different issue
