  1. Don't know whether my car was altered in the six months before I got it, but I've just been out to check and my battery terminals are marked red for positive and green for neg.
  2. Thanks for that Steve. The hill I'd travelled down was a steep one. Over a 100 metres of fall down a fairly bendy road. Then back to almost the same height on the next section of road. When I made my stop, it was at the hypermarket where I filled up, but only with 32 litres, so the tank was half-full. Anyway, the fault hasn't happened again, so until it does, I'll go along with your theory.
  3. Thanks for your reply Paul. Before I came away I changed oil & filter, air filter, fuel filter & pollen filter - although I appreciate that none of that would clean any sediment from the tank. You mention the accelerator electrics. It was the position sensor that I first thought about. Maybe if Steve comes along, he will give an opinion. But been out in the car today and all was back to normal.
  4. I had a worrying five minutes when I was out driving this afternoon. I'd just run down a long hill in 3rd gear and as I continued along the road in a line of traffic, I found the running of the engine had become very lumpy. Tickover was OK, it was just that the accelerator had no response at certain spots, so the car felt jerky. After five minutes or so I needed to stop and didn't restart for about 10 minutes. After the restart and on the journey back, all was fine. But 'd like to know what was wrong. I've got the car in Spain for a while.
  5. My guess will be that one of the sensors has lost its function.. Last year I did an ebay buy of an alloy wheel and tyre to match my car. I now carry it as the spare, but although it's fitted with a sensor, whenever I have it on the car, five minutes into a new drive, I get the beep and the message that the tyres are not being montored. Replace the original wheel and things are back to normal.
  6. You're right! I look in most days but there's not much going on.
  7. I can't - but I have similar on my C5. I've always assumed that they were included in the loom so they could be used on a different version of the model.
  8. My C5 estate is the same. Rear door always needs a hard slam down - except when there's a window open. Then it closes easily. Must be air pressure within the car
  9. Yes - I've noticed with mine that when I switch to main beam, the dipped beam also stays on and it certainly lights up the road ahead. Although the C5's suspension keeps the xenon beam level, I also think the lamp units are motor driven
  10. Besides having the xenon headlights, you will also require the headlamp washing system. Headlamp washers are required by law. They shoot out on stalks below the lamps - so in addition to everything else, you'd also need a change of bumper with the washer end covers. Also the lamp washers work only when the headlamps are switched on, so there will be complicated rewiring to do. Also (I think) the xenon light system has a different washer bottle and pump.
  11. Yes! the undertray has to come off and it's easier if you get the car on ramps with the suspension raised. 5W40 oil to API CF. Change the filter at the same time.
  12. This might be of interest - but again, it's quite a long way for you.:- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140851415133?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649
  13. Sorry - I didn't notice where it was. That's probably why he's had no takers yet.
  14. Have you seen the one being talked about on FCF. It's faulty and he's thinking of breaking it. It's a 2.2 but looks very good for £370. See it here:- http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=41149
  15. You have a message in your box.
  16. Is your starter turning over fast enough? If it's sluggish it won't built sufficient fuel pressure to fire.
  17. Glow plugs are on the back of the engine but I shouldn't worry too much about them. HDIs start without them and are only needed at well below freezing.
  18. Could be expensive to start swopping parts to try to hit on a cure. Better to get it on a Lexia.
  19. Well it depends what the £2800 bill relates to. As far as we know it may have been unrelated to the injector problem. You'll have to tell a longer story. As for not having any more Citroens, faults can happen to any make of car. We've been a four Citroen/Peugeot family for more than 22 years and we're all very happy with them.
  20. Thanks for that. I'll pick one up.
  21. Yes Paul, I had one on my previous 2.1 Xantia and very useful it was too. Where did you get yours?
  22. Yes they are different part numbers between Mk2 and X7. What you want are called hog rings 9341PF
  23. The Mark2 C5 came with 16" steel or a choice of two alloy 16s. No other size was offered. Guess you'll have to look at aftermarket ones.
  24. My C5 has the same problem. They're always slow to switch on and also slow to switch off. Don't know if it's adjustable. Maybe it is through a Lexia.
  25. Thank you for all your work. Fom a quick look it all looks good.
