  1. Hi h - & welcome to the forum. Hope you're well pleased with your Piccy. Any problems come back and share them and we'll try and help you sort them.
  2. That was the last thing the mechanic did after the tank was refitted and the filter changed. We went for a drive (and to get some more fuel). Performance was back to normal. All the warnings stayed off and on our return he plugged in the Lexia to check the data.
  3. Not only do you have the wiring to see to, but the washing system - which is a legal requirement on HID lighting. C5s fitted with xenons have a different windscreen washer system in that when the headlights are on and when the windscreen washer lever is pulled, two jets shoot out from the front bumper, spraying the headlamps. So of course, a different front bumper is required.
  4. No I didn't. The guy had the fuel sitting there in a large plastic trough and he asked me if I wanted it, but I declined. Couldn't handle it when away on holiday. Did wonder later whether it would have been usable in daughter's XUD Pug 306. She had her car there with me. Don't know why the diesel/petrol mix should alter fuel pressure. When they connected the Lexia, he switched to live data and immediately picked up on the high fuel pressure - something like 700 when it should be 275?. I've sent an email to Tesco so will await the reply.
  5. In my old copy of Haynes Xantia manual, changing the headlight bulbs is described under Bulbs - Exterior Lighting in Section 13-5. From Haynes description it appears to be quite straightforward. Too much time has gone by since I had a Xantia for me to remember the detail.
  6. Just been away for a week of caravanning in the New Forest with a mixed bag of weather. Doing the 100 mile drive down there was good. A smooth tow at an average fuel consumption of 30.5mpg. I arrived on Friday, pitched up and then went out to do some shopping. That was at a Tesco Superstore. While I was there I filled up with diesel - about 30 litres. On Saturday I drove out into the forest about six miles and stopped for a cycle ride. I started the engine for the return to site and immediately the engine management light came on. Also on the centre display I got fault messages for the Depolution; the ESP and the Speed Control Systems. Otherwise the car drove normally. When I got back to the site I disconnected the battery and at first that cleared the fault messages and EML but they all returned as soon as I drove off. Fortunately, close to the site was a PSA independent garage so I went the following morning. The guy plugged in his Lexia and the only thing he could see amiss was that the fuel pressure was reading too high. He cleared the fault and told me to return if it showed again. It did - about two miles down the road. I took the car back to him and left it. He phoned me two hours later with the news that I had a tank full of contaminated diesel. He suspected that there was a % of petrol in the mix. His recommendation was to drop the tank and clean it, flush the fuel lines and change the filter - all in - about four hours work. I told him to go ahead. I got the car back just before closing having had to pay £280 plus the value of the fuel I'd lost. Next day I went back to Tesco and asked about any other complaints but they had received none (which is what you would expect them to say!)
  7. Look closley at your rear box. Somewhere on the top side of it there will be a bent rod and above it there will be a similar rod welded to the bodywork of the car. A rubber moulding joins the two rods and allows the box to move slightly. I usually keep a couple of these handy and I find they fit all my vehicles. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UNIVERSAL-EXHAUST-RUBBER-MOUNT-HEAVY-DUTY-HANGER-FORD-LAND-ROVER-VAUXHALL-TVR-/111031929033?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item19da04c8c9
  8. Hello. Sorry to have taken so long to get back to you. I'm away on a site with no wifi so I've just borrowed a connection. Your C5 should have no problem towing your van - unless it's a 1.6ltr engine. The 2.0 ltr car is ideal. Stability depends on the hitch you have fitted. Normally they are either Alko or Winterhoff and both control the van well. Just make sure you have about 70-75Kgs of downward pressure on the ball.
  9. What a tragedy. Poor guy, after serving two operational tours in Afghanistan he has to meet his end at the hands of two murdering b******* on the streets of London as he spends a couple of hours off duty. RIP soldier - our thoughts are with you and with your family.
  10. But won't that defeat the object of having locked on alloys. The toe rags would just need to carry a universal key
  11. That's ingenious - but very time consuming - and at the end of it, it may not work. But if you do it and it works, come back and tell us about it. As Steve suggests, Citroen will provide another key but be prepared for high cost. Cheapest solution would be just to get four standard bolts. Many tyre depots have got a tool to remove the lock bolts.
  12. Do you have a hand primer in the fuel line? If so, is it fairly solid before you turn the key?
  13. If you can order online for collection from a branch Eurocarparts, you could get a new one for around 90quid. They are doing a 25% discount offer on online ordering at the moment. However I would make sure that you need one first. It seems too much of a coincidence that both front and rear go at the same time.
  14. It's really the booze cruise we're going for..
  15. Name: Citroen C5 Exclusive Estate (2005) Date Added: 20 May 2013 - 10:01 AM Owner: Johndouglas Short Description: None Provided http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/uploads/garage_images/image_url-578-1369044719_thumb.jpg View Vehicle
  16. Consider these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-C4-COUPE-04-on-Black-Front-Waterproof-Nylon-Car-Seat-Covers-Protectors-/280744503512?pt=UK_Car_Interior_Accessories&hash=item415dad28d8 I've never been a great fan of seat covers. You could try a search on ebay - you may see a replacement seat on there.
  17. I should! What they've given you is power steering fluid. What you want is Total LDS http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1L-Central-Hydraulic-Oil-LDS-Fluid-CITROEN-C5-01-/360528880880?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item53f13224f0
  18. But it might be worth considering removing the filter.
  19. Yes - I got new cables and tubes when I saw the advisory but decided the fitted ones were ok. I've put the new ones in store for the future.
  20. It goes to economy mode when the battery state falls below a certain level. The flashers will have done it.
  21. The later C5s use less eolys than the earlier models did. The first 2.2 models needed refilling at around 80K. Just making a guess, yours will probably have used 3.5 litres. I've heard it said that you should avoid putting only small quantities of diesel in your tank because it uses more fluid. Bear in mind that the refill needs recording in the ECU.
  22. And did it continue to run - or did it cut out again?
  23. The service light was on because of the fault. It comes on for the tiniest of faults. Your seller told you a porky. He's disconnected the pipework to keep the engine management light off. If you can wait till after the weekend, Steve Coastline will be back and he'll probably be able to guide you.
  24. First you need to release the cable from the clutch release lever by removing the locknut and adjuster nut. It can be done from within the engine compartment but you may have to remove the battery for access. Probably easier to raise the front of the car on axle stands and disconnect the cable from underneath, The cable is also held in a bracket on the transmission and sometimes on the engine bulkhead. Inside the car remove the trim panel above the clutch pedal, then by raising the pedal unhook the inner cable from the top of the pedal. The cable is removed from within the car. Make a note of the cables route so that the replacement can follow the same route. When the new cable is installed, the cable needs to be adjusted so that the pedal has 130mm of travel.
  25. These are what I've got on my C5. The wheel I use as a spare is a matching alloy which I bought off ebay with a nearly new tyre - all for £55. The only trouble is that when I put it on the car, the pressure monitoring system throws a wobbly and reports a fault.
