  1. My point exactly I think a clutch on a Mini I had once lasted well beyond 120,000
  2. Stuey May I ask, if indeed the news was not good would you consider getting another C4? :) Just wondering as you seme to like your new KAY-AYE (Ka) friend ;)  Glad to hear things are moving along anyhow...
  3. See the following... I believe there is a known fix for this...if that is of course what is wrong! Here And here
  4. To be honest it was absolutly pis*ing down when it happened as it has done over the last umpteen weeks! A quick clean seemed to have done the trick so perhaps that is what the problem is. I thought the front sensors only worked upto something daft like 3mph...wouldnt fancy trying to park a car at 70mph!
  5. Wozza has experience in this field I believe he's the man with the know. You sure this isnt your door cards rattling as this is quite a common problem IIRC. I know for one thing mine rattles on and off and resontates/rattles in time with music.
  6. Perhaps when they are worn out I will but at the moment it is only the one which is dudd. I could change when the front wear out I might, but prefer to have at least to matching pairs of tyres if not all four. Pointless I know but thats just the way I am about it  I'm not too fussed about the tyre performance as long as they are safe and legal. I dont cover huge miles in the car so longevity in wear terms isnt an issue 20,000 miles is 20,000miles but at the milage I do a year that would take nearly three years to cover! Obviously harder wearing tyres will last even longer and be a bouns. Going to a cheaper brand isnt really an option as I always try to keep to well known brands or at least reputable ones and if anything, false economy.
  7. I think they do but like you say they have an excellent pricing scheme. wouldnt suprise me if they charged for the air in the tyre. I dont have any faith in Kwik Fit after watching my mates Mk 1 Metro slip off the ramp and puncture the fuel tank. Probably did it a favour however... I've used in days gone past a little local set up looks a mess but the guys in there really know there stuff, polite dont treat you like a mug and dont care about the pound signs. They just want to offer good reliable service. I popped in there today and the bloke couldnt help enough, even though he didnt have the tyre on the shelf he tried his best. The kind of place you dont mind giving the guy a tenner for a beer as i know one thing is for sure I wouldnt find standing in the rain in the freezing cold hoofing soaking wet tyre covered in sheeite for someone particulary enjoyable. Besides which whilst I was up there got to have a chat about the VTS  At 140 quid a corner yes I'm going to be feeding the steering wheel from now on, maintaining the ten to two position at all times, pull my seat as far to the sterring wheel as possible, in the most upright posistion as possible. Once in I will get the GF to put a pillow behind my back. I will then get her to put a box of tissues on the parcel shelf with the tartan rug whilst I put on my knitted driving gloves and clip on shades....
  8. 205/50/ZR17 Michelin Exalto 2 - Its whats on there at the moment and basically were brand spanking when I got the car, coloured lines, little pips 'n all. As I said in my previous post, I have been given quotes ranging from £143 - £209 each fitted balanced. I have now sourced one at £131 with 5% works discout ;) I knew they were going to be £££ but thought £209 was taking the pis* somewhat
  9. Believe it or not the above prices are for the same make and model of tyre, thats why I cant believe KF cost so much more.
  10. He could just push a pen around a desk for hours on end and just have a long drive to work and back, may not be a salesman. :P Perhaps he sells shower curtain rings like Dale out of Trains, Planes and Automobiles
  11. I'm with you welsh Somethings just wear out fact of life, and experience dictates somethings wear faster than others no matter how hard or soft you drive. If my cigarette lighter spring knackered because I was smoking 60 a day then fair do's but a clutch even under normal use I would hope would exceed a 65k mile life span.
  12. Well my fears were right, because it was near the edge it does indeed need a new tyre. Amazed at the price difference between three tyre companies within a few mile radius. Best price £143.75 and those men in the bright blue jumpsuits who are the "boys you can trust" quoted an outstanding £209 fitted...but not until Wednesday. There was lots of chin scratching and sucking through teeth as well because "its not a common size"? :P What kind of crud is that? I hate Kwik Fit always have always will but always worth a visit to gauge their view of the market prices. :P I'm wondering what you get for the extra £50 apart from "mug" stamped on your forehead?
  13. Oh joy of joys... :P I've got my third puncture in three months only this time it is the second puncture on a tyre previously repaired. In all occasions its been a screw. Only difference this time the screw is currently residing fairly close to the outside edge of the tyre, but still within the tred. Whats the deal with getting tyres repaired, is there a maximum number of repairs per tyre or how close it can be repaired to the tyre wall? I just fear new tyre might be required and there is only 5k on them. Does anyone know where I can buy solid tyres from as I am begining to get a little "peshed off" with having to go get them repaired.... :P
  14. Not always so I'm affraid. The clutch went in my Focus at 23k and had a complete nightmare trying to get Frawds to admit that it was not normal for the clutch to fail at such low milage. That was still in the 60,000 mile mechanical warenty. Admit that it is a different company and thus different warrenties. My argument was that I'd spent at least 45-50% of those miles on the motorway..the M5 to be precise and gear changing had been minimal... Their attitude was "so.......?" Good luck Wozza... Is it me or is there a fair few posts with the phrase "clutch problems"? Does anyone think there is perhaps some issues with the clutches on these cars? Judder, lumpy failures?
  15. Came across this for the second time in as many weeks, my parking sensors seems to get confused and emit the continous tone as if I was very close to something, even though there was a completly empty car park behind me! I got out and wiped them over with a snot rag and that helped and stopped it, however there was minimal if any dirt on the sensors. Due the "persistant" ( :P ) rain I noticed that there was a couple of large drips on the sensors, would these have caused the sensors to get confused? Or is this the sign of something more...?
  16. Looks good although I'm not sure I like the "wobble" in the back door at the bottom of the window. It is almost like the designers pen slipped! Still quite nice
  17. Ah not another...poo on a stick Wozza. Did you bother to have words with him? Having just done a run to B'ham and back today people are going mental on the roads. In the space of 6mins we had 4lane drifters all requiring harsh braking as there was no indication or signal of them even moving out of the lane. Then on the way home the piece de resistance Approaching the M50 turn off a Toyota Enema...Emina...Douche? What ever they are called sat in the middle lane doing 58 braking hard and with main beams on. No one in front of him to even cause him to brake. I think a message to us all be careful as there are some complete numpties out on the roads as the only thing that is going through their mind at this time of year is the "Next Sale"
  18. Holy Sheeite.... Stuey I'm so sorry :D Take it you got out ok no injuries? Did he make contact with you as well? I'll rant with you on this one! :o What a big steamy pile of poo :D
  19. http://img300.imageshack.us/img300/4354/288312167b42b3f7414obd6.jpg :o HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE! Wishing you all and your families a safe and happy christmas and new year. Heres to 2007!
  20. I just looked on the Citroen website there are 16 Used C4's HDI's less than a year old prices ranging from 9,995 upwards in my area. I'd imagine if you search near to you there will be similar vehicles near to you, all from a citroen dealer and prices certainly more negotiable than those at Car Supermarkets. Use your buyer power. :) I certainly didnt pay the on screen price for ours....
  21. I bet Ciaran hates the bloke driving in the top pic...Blue Skies, sunny...and he's got his fogs on :) :P ...and no other lights? I wonder how much touching up those pics actually get? Tan Leather + Bling fake chrome = Disaster :)
  22. Ah so thats where my dustbin lid went... :P Can I have it back when your finished with it? I have problems with foxes you see.... Are you going to make it into those wheels that go roundy roundy when you are at a standstill? :)
  23. Welcome to the forum John, I would weigh up the on the screen price with what the dealer are prepared to sell you a brand new one at (inc deals), then minus depretiation. When we got ours they pushed the "deals" down our throats, but in the long term for us and the ammount we'd use the car it wasnt financially sensible. That price is on the screen for knocking down, however I would like to see that inital price lower. There are plenty of cars about in the dealer network and be tough and prepared to walk away and make it quite clear to the seller straight away. They'll want you on the forecort for as long as possible to make the sale...make sure you are there on your terms :) Good luck :P :)
  24. Yes Stuey You are correct in your assumption... I am a hooligan! :)
  25. Wozza Please can you make this a sticky on how you did this?
