  1. Get yourself a new gauge as the ones on the pumps are notoriously inacurate. Also keep your guage somewhere moisture free as they are suceptable to damage from damp/moisture.
  2. I thought this practice was illegal isnt it?
  3. No its fine.... When you get in the car you have a certain amount of time to put the buckle in. At that point the car then recognises who is sat where by the buckles that are fastened. Empty seats are shown as unbuckled. When someone gets out, the light illuminates as to show unbuckled. Once out of the door and closed again it remains off. I think it works on the principle that the engine is still running door open/closed passenger out. However I think the sequence is different for the driver side as you will always have a driver therefore should always be buckled up. If you dont buckle up and drive away you get an anoying alarm go off which progressivly gets louder and more anoying!
  4. I think you look in any mass marketed vehicle and you will notice good and bad points about the interiors. I remember reading an article when the original Rover 25 came out the review was horrified to see at least 5 different types/finishes of plastic on the dashboard. That was back in the 90's, you open to door today of a new Ford Focus and you wont see any difference. As your eyes divert to the floor you will see the plastic quality getting cheaper. and vary in quality from the good on the dash top to rough and textured in the foot wells. In compasrison I would say the interior is on par with other sector brands. VW/Audi always seem to be used a a benchmark and to be honest I dont see why....but thats personal preference...
  5. Absolutly ... also since the introduction of common rail technology of the 90's the turbo's of more recent years has alowed diesels to become much more of an attractive purchase in the domestic market. I think gone are the days or seriously having to crank the engine and the smoke screens these cars once produced. I guess it all depends as well as what you intend to use the car for. If you and the family load the car up and go away for weekends alot perhaps a dielsel is more suited than a petrol. Never really thought.... What are diesels like for around town economy?
  6. There is a difference.... Torque will get you up a hill, power will get you off a line quick. Think 1.6 diesel v's 1.6 petrol car going up a long steep hill on a motorway. The diesel will happily go up the hill without worries where as the petrol you may have to change down... F1 Car - Loads of power hardly any tourque so going up the same hill will be hell and run out of puff. 4x4 Ok will be slower going up the hill but will make steady progress and not be bothered by the hill. Remember transmission and tuning will be suited to get the best tractablility out of both engines.
  7. There was a shed load of postings on here last year, unfortunatly I dont think they are archived on here? I seem to remember ot happened about two or three times to the OP. Then it happened to someone else. IIRC they were both replaced under warenty
  8. Wozza you are right... I woke up this morning and realised what I had said. :o I think my mind was working overdrive lastnight, the GF was looking at engagement rings and inside my head I'm still working out the finances as she quite liked the "really expensive one". That and Jade Goodies eviction from Big Brother I had to have an early night. :)
  9. Is it? ;) As far as I understood it it is just a gear box, the reason you get the wine is because there is no syncromesh on reverse gears, hence why you get the judder if the engine is anything above idle when you select it and it makes the whine. My mate had a Mini with a close ratio non syncro box in his Mini and the whine was so loud you couldnt speak inside the car you had to shout. :D
  10. Does anyone know what effect working at an abattoir has on your driving? Does it put up or down your insurance quotes. I always see this at the top of the occupation list and always makes me wonder... Gees mental note get out more :) Of course Stu, "you are always hearing of Designers especially photographers driving like complete nutjobs" You should have been a Graphic Designer...they drive soooooo much more sensibly.... ;)
  11. something like that, let just say I have had to sign something :)
  12. Can you imagine the mess it would make of the message though and expecially with accents?! ;) My phone struggles when I aks it to on the voice dialing.... Me - "Dial Home"....Phone - "Calling Doctors" :)
  13. 28 years old, Occupation - Project Manager for... Not allowed to say :) - Insurance wise dont really want to talk about it as it could be a bad omen!... Fully Comp £372 AA Insurance
  14. Does he have a Tazer going cheap? I saw a US copper on the telly use one on a drunk driver in the states...when I say used, what I meant to say used 5 times :) ;) OK the bloke was drunk to start with but by the end of having 50,000volts x 5 applications, I think he had lost all muscle functions and deffinatly couldnt speak or co-ordinate arm and leg movement.....he did go down like a sack of spuds on the first go... Thought it would be good to take into meetings to liven things up a bit.
  15. Yes another good idea... I popped into B&Q the other day and as I drove into the car park it was like a scene from "Dancing on Ice" with all the shopping trolleys gracefully going along on their own in the wind and seeing them thudding into the parked cars. :) ;)
  16. Yet in a RWD car you'd also get nowhere on the same slope but slide sideways... :) I wonder if its simply down the the very low gear ratio of reverse....
  17. Well thats what i thought but I am sure it says in Snow and Ice you should turn it off... I have only once seen the TC light go mental and that was when I was trying to pull up a mud covered slope after a night of heavy rain whilst camping. Turning it off offered no help, however driving up the slope in reverse in a wavy line did as I could get the wheels to "dig in more" however this is not much help whilst on your daily commute in the cold and ice!
  18. :) I was hoping you had some of them "Rollex" watches ;)
  19. I can get you a Ship if you want :)
  20. Was thumbing through the handbook the other day and noticed that somewhere in there it states that in the event of snow and ice to Turn OFF the traction contol   Now can see a number of issues with that... ;) -Some models only switch off below a set speed...and thus will become active over a certain speed... -I would have thought TC would get confused on ice with wheels spinning, however I would have thought having it on would help more than hinder... -We of course have not yet had no snow and ice to worry about but no doubt will soon... So what are your thoughts Obviously drive safely and carefully...any thoughts? :)
  21. "You aint seen me....roight" Stu I need a new fancy watch...can you help? ;) :)
  22. Nout wrong with Weller in the days of The Jam, infact I saw Weller play live in April(?) last year. Started at 7 played non stop until 11.30. For someone who isnt a great fan I most impressed and excellent VFM. I just think his days in Style Council are well...best forgotten!
