  1. It is always nice when a problem is simple and no cost to repair. Before buying our 2010 C3 last year I took it on a motorway next to the dealer and found the steering wheel vibrating so the dealer had to balance the wheels. It had the original Bridgestone tyres and was on 12500 miles, so maybe Citroen has not been doing a good job balancing the wheels. If your tyre pressure gauge is not accurate it may pay to get another one, or see if it gives the 32 psi set at the garage.
  2. This is taken from the previous post so the link has been deleted in case it does not work in the future: Some C3s have a bluetooth radio to connect to a mobile phone for calls and the phone's directory. Prior to any operation : Car display should be lit up (Ignition key in the position 'M') Phone's Bluetooth system must be activated Pairing can only be achieved with the ignition on, but the engine not running. To PAIR a phone on newer models: Press MENU on the radio and select Bluetooth telephone function - Audio Bluetooth conï¬guration Perform a Bluetooth search Your phones BT name will be displayed on the car screen, accept the name. Enter a 4 digit code on the radio, then enter the same code into the phone when prompted Your phone should now be paired with your C3. If this fails, try this for older cars: With your phone, search for a new Bluetooth pairing, Select 'CITROEN' on your phone's display. On the Radio, use the UP/DOWN navi-circle to find a free memory (1 of the 4) Press OK on the navi-circle to save the pair Enter the code 1234 into the Phone when prompted Your phone and car should now be Bluetooth Paired. Use OK on the navi-circle to answer an incoming call when paired.
  3. If the code reader does not work properly with the car, are you sure the read codes are correct ? If the fault is no longer present, possibly switching the ignition on and off a few times might clear the warning light. I have read that a faulty egr valve may give a lot of soot from the exhaust on accelerating once the engine is warm (it should not work when cold), but having a dpf may prevent this being seen. Something easy to check is if the swirl valve actuator plastic joint at the passenger end of the cylinder head has broken. On one of the C5 sections there is a pinned list of some members who are willing to help others with diagnostics, where are you located in case one is near you ?
  4. This is from Citroens procedures for the C8. Also I have read that a faulty sensor may not make a slight buzzing noise, so you could have a close listen to the 4 sensors:- Faults are memorised in the parking assistance ECU.Faults are indicated by a special audible warning from the rear.1. Reading fault codesThe following faults can be read using the diagnostic tool :Left rear sensor defectiveRight rear sensor defectiveLeft rear centre sensor defectiveRight rear centre sensor defectiveECU defectiveTrailer information invalidRear audible warning defective2. ACTUATOR TESTSThe rear audible warning can be tested using the diagnostic tool.3. ConfigurationThe following parameters can be configured using the diagnostic tool :Number of sensorsPresence of a deactivation switchUsing the audible warning (on this application, the vehicle’s speakers are not accessible by the VAN network)Adjusting the rear audible warning volume
  5. What are you thinking of doing about the metallic clunking, do you know what is causing it ? If it needs part of the suspension replacing and the fluid needs draining, it may be best to sort this first or at the same time as replacing the fluid. If you do not know the cause, one possibility is the brake caliper may be catching the wheel due to corrosion between the caliper and suspension arm. See the pinned post on removing the rear brake caliper.
  6. Thanks for the reply. I have recently looked at other internet providers and all give a max speed of 1mb/s apart from Virgin who have put their own cables down our street. But they want £25/month vs now £9 and if we switched the phone and line to them the cost difference does not reduce much. Before this I left the router on for a month or so and the speed did not increase until I switched it off and back on. So if I want any real improvements it is down to cost.
  7. Welcome to the forum. In the Haynes manual it says to use the hand priming bulb pump at the driver's side of the engine. This should be squeezed repeatedly until it goes hard and then try to start the engine.
  8. An interesting new definition of a drive - maybe if you satisfied the private drive your premium would have been even lower. I would think most drives are accessible by the public and many front gardens/drives are now open plan. I wonder if insurers will be using this in premiums/claims and now due to things like google maps and street view the relevant information is in the public domain without having to visit, so they should not be able to plead ignorance on their part or maybe even need to ask.
  9. The parts are available, but the height adjuster 8920AQ which is the part of the seat frame that fastens to the runners is about £300. The handle 8920K4 (if colour grey, 8920VY if tramontane) is about £30. It may be your best option is to source another seat from a car breakers or have a good look at your seat and see if there is anything obvious which is wrong that you could repair.
  10. You can probably get most of it out by removing the tank bottom hose, putting the car on a ramp so it is raised and supported on the wheels (with enough ground clearance so you are not squashed when the car drops) and then opening the front and rear bleed/drain screws. The car suspension will then drop as low as it will go and push out the fluid. If you measure the amount removed it should give a good indication if most of it is drained. I have read elsewhere on the internet that the LHM fluid may not damage the C5 system and if a bit is left in it probably would not matter so it may be worthwhile you doing a bit more research. The Haynes manual is useful if you do not have a copy. When you refill the system if the suspension pump does not prime I have read on here that you can simply blow in to the tank to push the fluid to the pump and also just leaving the car overnight may be enough.
  11. Welcome to the forum. Have a look on the C8 section for some things to keep an eye on such as the timing belt.
  12. A quick look at the parts diagrams (without knowing the exact model/year/engine) shows the seat height adjuster mechanism and handle are available as spare parts so it appears the seat can be repaired if the mechanism is broken. Check with a Citroen dealer for the right parts and cost using your car VIN.
  13. This is based on Citroen's procedure for removing the double inlet air doser unit : - remove the resonator pipe between the turbo and doser unit (unclip the strap, undo the jubilee type clip, remove the bolt (6 +/- 1.5 Nm) at the turbo). - unclip the electrical connectors and unclip the wiring. - undo the 3 jubilee type clips and disconnect the air hoses. - under the doser unit undo and move aside the exhaust gas pressure sensor (2 nuts and a pipe support clip to undo). - from the top of the doser unit, between the 2 lower hose connections, remove the retaining bolt (9 +/- 2 Nm but on refitting the threads should be coated with Product E3 - but does not say what that is). - from under the doser remove the 2 pillar screws (9 +/- 2 Nm) and support clip (all revealed when the exhaust sensor was moved). - slide the doser towards the front and extract it from its support. Refitting is a reversal of removal.
  14. The handbook for a 2007 has something similar on page 85 as follows, so it looks as if you just need to move the mirror selection switch (1) from the central position for it to work again. Control (2) is the mirror direction round control with the arrows. :- REAR VIEW MIRRORS ADJUSTMENT This operates with the ignition switched on. From the driver ’s seat position, select the rear view mirror by moving control 1 to the left or right, then adjust the rear view mirror in the four directions by acting on control 2. Demisting-deicing of the rear view mirrors is coupled with that for the rear screen. REAR VIEW MIRRORS FOLDBACK When the vehicle is parked, the rear view mirrors can be folded back either manually or electrically. Electrically From the central position, a press to the rear on control 1 folds the rear view mirrors back. The opposite movement is obtained by pressing again on the rear of the control. Electrically and automatically The rear view mirrors also fold back automatically when you lock the doors. The rear view mirrors redeploy when you unlock the vehicle, unless the foldback was performed manually. In this case, you have to press on the rear of the control to deploy them. Note : The automatic foldback of the rear view mirrors can be deactivated. Contact a CITROËN dealer. Adjusting the indexed position of the driver ’s and passenger’s rear view mirrors With the engine running : - Select the rear view mirror using control 1. - Engage reverse gear, the glass of the rear view mirror positions itself automatically to give a better sight of the pavement. - If necessary, adjust your rear view mirror to your preference by means of the electrical control 2. This position is then memorised. Deactivation of the rear view mirror indexing function To deactivate the function, move control 1 to the central position. If you do not have a handbook they can be seen and pages printed (mouse right click is easiest way) from the service.citroen site, documentation de bord, select language, select your car and model year. http://service.citroen.com/ddb/
  15. Any suspension fault should be found at the next MOT. Thats when our C3 drop link wear was pointed out as an advisory but before this I had unsuccessfully tried to locate the source of the noise.
  16. According to the Haynes manual the LDS fluid capacity is - the hydractive 3 system - right hand drive 4.7 litres, left hand drive 4.5 litres - the hydractive 3+ system 5.4 litres. On top of this you would need more to flush out all the incorrect fluid - this might involve draining the old fluid, filling with new, using the suspension, draining again and then refilling and possibly repeating this. Haynes states that using the wrong fluid will damage the system rubber seals and hoses so some of these may need replacing. Check the front and rear struts and all the piping/hoses/steering rack/suspension pump/power steering pump/spheres for any signs of leaks - if any are found the replacement cost can be high - a new rear strut is about £150, a new front strut is about £350.
  17. Welcome to the forum. First thing, you may be best to avoid a 1.6 hdi since these are prone to turbo failure and for one about 7 years old and maybe 60k miles it is probably only a question of time before it would need one. If it did fail then as a minimum a new turbo would be needed, at worst an engine so any fuel economy savings are insignificant compared to potential costs. Also the 1.6 hdi has a more frequent service interval - 12500 miles vs 20000 for other engines (or 2 years if sooner). We had a 1.6 hdi 2008 hatchback and that was no bother up to 46k miles when we changed it. There are some things to watch for on the C4 Technical section, pinned Common Problems post. There was a facelift end of 2008 and the fuel economy improved but I do not know if this applied to the Picasso version. However, equipment levels were reduced - e.g. the aircon became manual on all but the top range cars, lower profile wheels were also only on the top range cars but since the tyres are expensive this is a good thing. Check if the car has a normal spare wheel. If you are going for the Picasso version, have a look/join the Picasso forum, there is a link to it from the home page. You can see the handbooks on the service.citroen site, documentation de bord, select language, then click on the relevant car and year.http://service.citroen.com/ddb/
  18. Welcome to the forum. The C5 uses Total LDS fluid for the suspension. http://www.gsfcarparts.com/980aa0720 I have moved your post into a subforum since ones outside do not show after a few days and are then hard to find.
  19. Maybe move the blue sensor wire a bit to see if it was catching on something and the insulation has worn through. All this sensor does is earth the wire at the high temp so it could give the same effect if the wire was earthed. It is possible the garage disturbed the wire when unplugging the ecu. Pity the garage could not read and clear the code normally since this may have given a clue on why the engine light came on.
  20. Welcome to the forum. As far as I can remember, this is the first time a timing belt coming off has been mentioned on any car on this forum, never mind a new C3 1.2 litre engine. It is good you are getting a new engine rather than trying to repair the old one. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. I have moved your post in to a subsection since ones outside do not show after a few days and are then hard to find.
  21. It will be good to know if your engineer's code reader gives the same results since your reader at £11.99 from Amazon is a good low cost buy if it gives correct results.http://www.amazon.co.uk/CAN-Bus-Trouble-Diagnose-Diagnostic-Scanner/dp/B001CBBY7O The Service light could be anything - I have seen it when the battery has been flat, the car has been stalled, from the front brake pad wear indicator wires.
  22. I am not sure about this but I think the breathalyser may be on hold and the no. of high vis jackets/vests may be for each passenger as well as the driver. I carry a high vis vest in a door pocket since it has to be available without getting out of the car - only used it once when somebody bumped our car on a motorway and put it on before getting out on the hard shoulder. If you wear glasses you may also need to carry a spare pair in the car to the right prescription. There will also be a set of bulbs. It may be better to get a set of new rear lights, then you will keep a reversing light for your benefit and other road users. They may not be too expensive - for a mark 1 C3 they were £51 each from a dealer which was not much different to Eurocarparts - except I tried ones from Eurocarparts and the pattern ones did not fit so had to go back. The Eurocarparts site shows C4 rear lights at about £40 depending on make - but you will want left hand drive ones and will need to try your dealer.
  23. If nobody comes back with an answer, you could look at the fuse list in your handbook, put in the relevant fuses (may be the G ones in the dash fusebox yellow section - these have a permanent live supply via maxi fuses) and then lift the carpets below the seats to check for the connectors and see if you get a supply. Also see if any connectors match the ones on your replacement seats.
  24. Next time it happens, instead of disconnecting the battery, try moving the battery wires about to see if one has a break in it. If the battery is disconnected you could also check if the suspension pump electrical connector on top of it is fully on and if there are any signs of corrosion in the engine fuse box or on the ecu connectors but I doubt if these are the problem. Are there any other problems with the car or work that was done before the problems that may help with the diagnosis ?
  25. I hope that has solved your mpg problem. I have been cleaning up/greasing the rear caliper joints every couple of years on our C5 since the corrosion sems to come back fairly quickly. There are pinned posts on the brakes on this subforum if you have not seen them.
