If you look at the towbar to trailer connector electrical socket, there may be a spring loaded pin that is pushed in as the trailer plug is connected (12N or 13 pin type). This then disconnects the rear fog light/etc - check to see if this pin has stuck in and needs a bit of help to free it off. Best not to try this with something metallic in case you connect a permanent positive to an earth in the socket and blow a fuse.

Is your car the 2002 to 2009 or 2009 on model ? Best thing is to look at the Citroen parts diagrams to get the part no. against your car VIN and then buy the correct one - or get it from a Citroen dealer. You can see the parts diagrams as a free service if you register as other professional non emergency services on service.citroen. Then use your VIN (VIS) top left to find your car. If you look under Characteristics it will also give you the details of your car. http://service.citroen.com/pages/index.jsp

So what size engine and bhp is it and how many gears ? The fuel economy in the handbook will be the official test figures but the one you are quoting will likely be the combined cycle and not constant high speed driving. If you are doing over 120 km/h (75 mph) all the time, not many cars will give good fuel economy, have you thought of slowing down ? Also maybe on your previous car the speedo was reading high so you were doing a lower speed than you thought. This could also give a higher distance travelled than actual. As the weather warms up fuel economy should also improve. Just noticed you have put the car has done 175 km, if correct then as it wears in the economy will improve. If you meant 175000 km, then maybe the engine has worn out or the exhaust dpf has been removed or is blocked or other mods have been made that affect the fuel use. You could also check if the air filter is clean.

You also need to use a code reader to see what fault the car has logged. Did the engine management light also come on or not go out when the message appeared ? The pollution system faulty message means something that has an effect on the engine running and exhaust emissions is faulty. It could be anything but to try and replace parts without doing the code reader check could result in many parts being replaced and wasted cost until you find the right one. Things that can prevent it starting if faulty include the crank shaft and cam shaft sensors but also many others.

Does your car have stop/start which requires special batteries and hence being expensive ? For the battery to explode internally would require either a high pressure due to overcharging or an internal spark due to a battery fault that ignites the hydrogen created during charging. A loose connection outside on the battery might also give a spark but if external to the battery may not be in a sufficient concentration of hydrogen that it could ignite. I am not too convinced of the overall benefits of stop/start, it may reduce car pollution in queues but at a possible high maintenance cost to the car owner. We had a recent topic of a stop/start car where the alternator/starter needed replacing and it was in the high £100s, far more than any possible fuel savings over the life of the car. Our C4 has stop/start and I switch it off every time the car is started.

The only way you will find the fault without buying lots of unnecessary parts will be to read the fault code with a code reader from when the eml came on. Possibilities could be the crankshaft sensor, cam shaft sensor, injector failure (common on the 1.4 petrol 75 bhp engine - but I do not know which engine or year your car is) and others. What made you think the coil pack was faulty ? When these are replaced it is wise to also replace the spark plugs since it these are not right they can affect the coil pack.

Rear Left Brake Caliper Touching

The pad cover fixing bolt should be tightened back up after removing the cover so that the 2 halves of the caliper do not split when the caliper bolts are removed. -

The height sensors are on the front and rear anti roll bars. Possibly an arm on one may have broken and need replacing (a few pounds from a dealer) or possibly be a bit seized. You could try something like wd40 and then take the car up and down a few times. Do not go under the car without having the body on axle stands since if a height sensor is touched the car may drop to a very low level quicker than you can get out of the way. Adjustment requires a Citroen diagnostic tool. Course adjustment is made initially using suspension height measurements to alter the sensor position and then fine adjustment using the diagnostic tool. However, unless the suspension sensors have been moved, it should not need adjusting. -
Check all the wiring connectors are in place in case one has been missed.

Welcome to the forum. You need to use a code reader to see what fault was recorded when the anti pollution message came up and presumably the engine management light came on. This may give you a good clue to the fault. The crankshaft sensor is one that can fail once hot but then allow the car to run again when cooled back down. You could also have a wiring fault/damage that sometimes touches bare metal so you could have a look around the engine and under the engine cover.

Maybe the previous owner disconnected the pump if it was running all the time and draining the battery. The plugs are also known to come loose so an occasional check is needed. There was also somebody on here who ran their own supply wire to the pump with a timer when the control developed a problem and found this a low cost way of keeping the suspension up.

I do not have a wiring diagram for the C3 but in the Haynes manual for the C4 it shows each side light has a separate wire from the bsi (cabin fuse box) and the other wire from the bulb connector goes to the same earth as the other lights in each light unit. So you need to check the wiring all the way back to the bsi for damage and a 12 volt supply out of the bsi. Citroen do not use colours to identify wires but instead have numbers on them which may need a magnifying glass to read. So get the number at the connector and then try to find it at the bsi.

On our Citroens, the trip computer screens are seen by pushing the switch on the end of the wiper stalk. A quick push changes through the different screens and a longer push of a few seconds resets it.

Severe Judder Even After Discs/pads Replaced Twice

From above the rear bush is about £30 and it is held on with 2 bolts, so it can not cost much to replace. If you did go with Halfords for the brakes, maybe they would change the bush without charging, or at worst just pay for the part since it would already be on a ramp for the brakes. Did they also say if the front bush needed replacing ? Perhaps you could ask for the same mechanic to do the work. An extra thought, it may pay to have the brake/clutch fluid changed again when the brakes are done (again ask for it free or reduced cost) just in case there is any of the old fluid still there that had water in it. Plus it must be about a year since it was last done and 2 years is the normal replacement anyway. -
A bit more info is needed. Is it petrol or diesel and engine size and bhp and whether auto or manual gearbox and no. of gears. Also is the fuel tank the same size. We went from a 2008 to 2011 C4, both 1.6 hdi 110 bhp 6 speed manual gearbox. From memory the 2008 averaged about 48 mpg and the 2011 about 53 mpg over a long period. We would not have done 120 km/hr (75 mph) though since in the UK that is above all the speed limits.

Welcome to the forum. Traction control does not stop you getting stuck in slippy conditions but makes it more likely. On cars with it you would switch it off if trying to set off in snow. If you must go off road you need ideally 4 wheel drive but mud and snow tyres might help but on Top Gear they get 4wd cars stuck. You might also consider using camp sites that have hard standing rather than muddy fields and you could ask the camp sites when booking about the ground conditions and site road conditions. I have used many Caravan Club and Camping and Caravanning Club sites and never seen anyone stuck in mud. If the camp site is on grass, then it may help setting off again if the van is parked with the driven wheels nearest the site road and to use delicate touches on the accelerator and clutch pedals to gradually set off, just as if trying to set off in snow. There are also devices to use when setting off in snow that can be considered to put under the wheels or a bit of old carpet - all a lot cheaper than converting your van.

Welcome to the forum. Maybe the wiring in the replacement door is damaged or it is wired differently. If nothing obvious then you may need to swap the wiring over.
