  1. Maybe when you have a bump and the insurer's engineer visits to check the car damage, he/she is really looking to see if there are any modifications so the insurer does not have to pay out, rather than getting estimates for its value and the repair cost. They always record the mileage which will be checked against the annual mileage in the insurance schedule.
  2. If the garage has done the repair then take it back, they have not put the rear washer jet or pipe back so it might need the door bits taking apart again. Also it sounds as if the door latch needs adjusting, again back to the garage.
  3. If it is not turning over fast enough (about 300 rpm) it will not start.
  4. It is possible the engine temperature sensor is faulty. On our 2010 C3 1.4 vti it kept going to max temp and running the engine fan, despite being cold. Our local dealer said there was a recall on the sensors and it was fixed free of charge. The recall may not be well known/well published but the dealers know about it. In our case the temp showed high but in this case it was low so the coolant was being blown out of the expansion tank - hence no puddles or steam in the exhaust http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=106120 Maybe in your case it has caused the head gasket to fail. I would not run the engine if the oil (with the coolant) level is now high since this may cause a lot of damage.
  5. With that much water being lost so quickly and you have not mentioned seeing any pools of water on the floor or the expansion tank overflowing, then either it is going straight into the sump and the oil level would have overflowed, or it is going straight out of the exhaust and you would see the exhaust gases full of steam. If you had a pool of water on the floor then possibilities include the water pump failed, an engine core plug failed, the head gasket failed to the outside, another gasket failed. When looking at cylinder numbers, on the C3 they are numbered from the gearbox end but I do not know if it is the same on the C4. If you remove the spark plugs you will see signs of head gasket failure if the water is going into a cylinder - the spark plug will be clean and the top of the piston may have water on it and will also be clean. If your car is from a Citroen dealer you should have a 12 month warranty so the car should be returned to them.
  6. Some info here http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/23820-ignition-key-fob/?hl=%2Bremote+%2Bcase&do=findComment&comment=89464 In some cases the immobiliser chip can be separate to the circuit board and look like a tiny bit of rectangular plastic, so do not throw the old case away until you have removed all the old bits and are sure the new one works in the car. On our last case change, I removed the Citroen logo from the old case and glued it on the replacement. I have found the replacement cases are a better quality than the original Citroen ones and could last a lot longer.
  7. When I changed the water pump on a C3 I did not bother draining down, just removed the pump and let the coolant run in to a bowl.
  8. This is copied from a previous topic about dpf removal http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/22047-antipollutionunblock-diesel-filter-faults/page-2?hl=%2Bjeremy+%2Bvine&do=findComment&comment=82395 Posted 02 February 2015 - 02:53 PM On the BBC radio 2 Jeremy Vine program 2/2/2015 vehicle modifications and insurers not paying out was discussed. It started with the case of a car that had the sump stolen and resulting engine damage and the insurer had agreed a payout but then saw a picture of the car which has religious stickers on it. They then refused to pay saying the stickers were a modification they had not been told about, even though it had no impact on causing the theft of the sump. There is a BBC article but on the radio the car owner gave more details than in the linkhttp://www.bbc.co.uk...-wales-31064998 Other people then phoned in. One refused payout was for a vehicle with a Chelsea football sticker which the insurer did not know about. Another was the owner of a motorbike who was knocked off by a car which had been repainted yellow but the car insurer refused to pay out since they did not know the car had been repainted - in this case though after lots of attempts to get paid, the bike owner then let on he worked for the BBC and the money was hand delivered the next day. Somebody then involved in the insurance business said you should declare any changes no matter how small including stickers, since the insurers will find anything to avoid paying. So even if a change has no possible cause to give a claim, the insurer can still refuse to pay out. In the case of a car that has had the dpf removed, you can get a good idea by looking at the end of the exhaust to see if it is covered in soot since I have found on our cars with a dpf the inside of the exhaust looks like clean metal. Most modifications do not cost extra on insurance. Last time I changed my insurance for the C5 I told them it was used for towing a caravan but then realised I had not specifically told them it had a towbar so did this on the renewal - it was no cost but now appears on the documents as a modification (Direct Line). On our C3 we had parking sensors fitted which we told the insurer about, again it was no extra cost and is mentioned in the documents but the small print says it is not covered if not an original fitting (Admiral).
  9. Welcome to the forum. I think most members of this forum are car owners needing help with one off problems and not car enthusiasts. As a result, once they have received help they do not come back until the next problem and do not help out with problems from other members. Fortunately, there is a hard core of members including the moderators who visit the site most days and will always offer advice where possible.
  10. Welcome to the forum. A picture of your car would be good, but for those of us who do not want to wait, here is a link to some https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ID20+D+Super+picture&espv=2&biw=1158&bih=879&tbm=isch&imgil=tfnys_RIkecj5M%253A%253BjaUrX8c45S6F7M%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fipocars.com%25252Fvinfo%25252Fcitroen%25252Fcitron_ds__id_20_d_super_pallas-1971.html&source=iu&pf=m&fir=tfnys_RIkecj5M%253A%252CjaUrX8c45S6F7M%252C_&usg=__2qLRRR-fpU27_xAYZkbE47gwel0%3D&ved=0ahUKEwjF56Puy9TMAhUCL8AKHb4ZAwUQyjcINQ&ei=Z340V4WYJ4LegAa-s4wo#imgrc=tfnys_RIkecj5M%3A
  11. Don't the French government have a share in PSA, this may be a ruse to improve new car sales and give a boost to the economy and reduce health costs.
  12. Many years ago I had a Maxi with the SU carb that flooded and stopped the engine. The float needle valve had come unscrewed a bit so its gasket was not sealing. You might also check the fuel hoses do not have any splits and are fastened tight with the correct size clips. On some carburettors the float height may be adjustable.
  13. This is copied from a post by John Douglas with the latest on dpf removal published in the Guardian newspaper: Apparently the Government are so concerned about vehicles being on the roads with filters removed that they are in the process of devising a roadside test to show whether or not parts have been removed. See this article.... http://www.theguardi...t-for-transport
  14. I will add this link to the C5 topic on dpf removal.
  15. Maybe you could switch the rear window heater on and touch the mirrors to see if they get warm, provided that is how they are switched on - the handbook should give the info.
  16. I do not have this car any more to check it, perhaps we may get advice from another member.
  17. I think it is in the car handbook to raise the suspension before jacking up to change a wheel. There have been reports on here of problems with the suspension when this has not been done and sometimes this can be at a garage/tyre place if they are not familiar with the C5. It may have been last year in a BBC report of an insurance claim where they refused to pay out since the owner had put a sticker on the side of the car and not told them.
  18. It could be the strut top bearing that needs replacing on one or both sides. I think I have read these are a common problem on the Nemo. Also check the anti roll bar drop links but these tend to knock when going over bumps.

That sounds like it. If it is a diesel, it might be Citroen part no. 1131C5 with a copper gasket 698870 but these should be checked using your VIN. If petrol the part nos. are different depending on the VIN.

    Welcome to the forum.
  21. If the filter is not full of diesel when the engine is not running then it must be draining back quickly once the engine is stopped. Did it do this before you replaced the filter and are there any signs of a fuel leak from the filter and the pipes and connections after it ? Have you got the connections on the filter right ? The attached is from a 2004 2.2 hdi C5
  22. Welcome to the forum. You may need a diagnostic check at a Citroen dealer or elsewhere that has the Citroen diagnostic equipment to see what is faulty. It could be wiring, an airbag, a sensor but if you have a switch to turn off a front passenger airbag you could see if using this makes a difference and also check its connector.
  23. If you open the bleed valve on the bottom of the fuel filter diesel should run out and not air.
  24. If you are going to go under the car always use axle stands. If a height sensor on the front or rear anti roll bar is caught the suspension may drop to a very low level, quicker than you could get out of the way. Before you fit the alloys, clean up the hubs and wheels where they contact the hub and apply a smear of copper grease. Otherwise the alloys can corrode and stick to the hubs making them difficult to remove later. Make sure you use the correct wheel bolts, on alloys they have a washer and a flat face that contacts the alloy. Remember to tell the insurance company you have modified the car with the new wheels. It should not cost anything but stops them refusing to pay out if you make a claim.
  25. An interesting end to your problem, lucky you did not get caught speeding anywhere. The speedo needle coming loose is a common problem. http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/15043-speedometer-repairs/ The needle on our C5 came loose due to a split in its collar and I simply put it back with a bit of glue and it has been ok since. A runny glue was needed and I had some wood glue which worked. To get it in the right position I did it with the instrument cluster connected and the ignition switched on since this moves the speedo motor to 0 mph. The mileage is stored on both the instrument cluster and ecu so if you fit a replacement cluster from another car the ecu and cluster will go to the highest value between them. If you do this and get a replacement with more miles than your existing, you may need to take photos or keep another record since your insurance will have a mileage limit and could cause a problem if you need to claim.
