  1. Welcome to the forum. The car has an electric pump for the power steering which takes signals from the ecu. Possibly the pump wiring or its electrical connector are faulty and need a check or maybe the pump needs replacing. Check the steering oil level but also check the car battery voltage since if low this has been known to give faults like this with an electric pump on the C5.
  2. Some things here to try http://www.citroen-owners-club.co.uk/citroen/topic/23199-stuck-cd-in-stereo/?hl=stuck Our 2007 C5 has a navidrive and that has a hard drive that is always making a noise. I am not sure but the Myway radios may need a map cd in them.
  3. Welcome to the forum
  4. Just a thought, has the ecu software been changed ? Have you checked all the actuator hoses for any tiny splits, maybe you could measure the vacuum in the hoses to check for leaks and if the brake servo vacuum is not lost overnight. Can the waste gate actuator be adjusted, I had to do this when replacing a turbo on a Saab. Have you checked if the doser valves are opening ? A search came up with this list of possible causes of a high boost pressure: Boost pressure too high Fuel system/injection feed system defective or incorrectly adjustedBoost pressure control swing valve/poppet valve seized in closed positionBoost pressure-sensing pipe split or incorrectly fittedWastegate actuator diaphragm splitWastegate actuator calibration incorrect
  5. Thankyou for getting back to us and I am pleased it did not cost anything to fix.
  6. You probably only need the linkage but have a look first. If the switch needs replacing then it may need the suspension height setting with a diagnostic.
  7. Welcome to the forum. This sounds like the height adjuster switch which has a rod between the switch and anti roll bar. The rod can break and a new one can be bought from a Citroen dealer for a few pounds. This is from point 30 on the Technical section Common Problems topic Parkesie has also reported the rear height sensor linkage arm had corroded and broke on his mark 3 exclusive C5 causing the rear suspension to drop. See http://www.citroen-o...ng-on-its-arse/ Axle stands should always be used when going under the car since catching or playing with the height sensors can cause the suspension to drop to a very low level so the car is only a few inches above the ground.
  8. Maybe it was an old fault code that was never deleted.
  9. You could do a quick check of the front wish bone rear bushes - these are the ones at the back end of the front lower suspension arms. In a car park raise the suspension to max height, then have a look at the rear end of the arms - the arm shaft should be in the middle but if to one side or the rubber looks perished it indicates the bushes need replacing. This is the bush http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Citroen_C5_1.8_2004/p/car-parts/suspension/suspension-and-steering/suspension-bushes/?610540055&1&740b70469214f037b099c096ce9bc8daaa514bbc&000437
  10. It does seem as if it has to be the cv joint since you have replaced everything else. A test on the joint used to be to put the car on full lock and go forward and backward to see if it knocked. You could also pull the gaiter off and look at the joint. Eurocarparts list an outer cv joint for about £50.
  11. Possibly with the fault it was in limp mode so the performance was limited. Our C3 had a cam sensor fail and that had the engine management light on and went to limp mode.
  12. The following is a modified Citroen procedure but it is the same as on our 2007 C5 2.2 hdi and some of the things were not needed so are noted. I used a filter from a Citroen dealer which included plugs for the pipes to keep dirt out. Take a photo before starting in case the pipes get mixed up. Use some tissues to catch any diesel drips. 2. RemovingESSENTIAL : Respect the safety and cleanliness recommendations that are specific to high pressure diesel injection (HDi) engines.Disconnect the battery. (did not bother)Remove :The protective panel under the engine (not needed but I did an oil change at the same time so it was removed with difficulty since fasteners were rusted/seized and some new ones were needed as well as some small nuts and bolts and large washers)The engine coverThe air filter air inlet pipeProtect the alternator. (plastic bag will do so any spilt diesel does not get in it) Place a draining tray under the engine. (I put a cup at the end of the clear drain hose but found the hose was not pushed on to the filter drain point so diesel was spilt. Fully draining the filter can be left until it is removed from the car)Open the bleed screw (5 mm allen key) on top of the filter. (at the back right side when looking at the filter from the front, so the filter will drain out of the bottom)Clean the filter unions of the pipes.Unplug the top electrical connector and a bottom one if fitted (water detection, this was not on our C5 but the connector was there): Unclip the electrical harness (at the left side).Disconnect the 4 pipes (by pushing down on the coloured clips and then the pipes will easily pull off).CAUTION : Plug the fuel pipes and the pipes on the fuel filter ; (Using the plugs supplied with the new filter).Remove the fuel filter metal protection shield (used a 10 mm socket with a piece of cardboard against the radiator so it was not damaged when the shield was resting against it).Close the bleed screw. Remove :The 3 fuel filter fixing bolts (8 mm allen key)The fuel filter (this was put in a funnel in an old oil container to catch the diesel draining out)3. RefittingCAUTION : Open the sachet containing the new fuel filter just before fitting.Refit :The fuel filter The 3 fuel filter fixing bolts (9Nm)The fuel filter protector shieldReclip the electrical harness.Couple up pipes.Reconnect the electrical connectors. Remove the alternator cover, clean up any diesel spills. 4. Bleeding the supply circuitCitroen's procedure is to use degassing pipes but all I did was use the hand priming bulb a lot to get out any air and the car started first time. Then check for any leaks. 6. Refitting (continued) Refit :The air filter air inlet pipeThe engine coverThe protective panel under the engine (if removed)
  13. Welcome to the forum. Could you describe what the symptoms are, e.g. is it pulling to one side, is there judder when braking
  14. First thoughts are there is a loose connection, maybe a scotchlock or on the back of the radio or possibly inside the radio. Also on our C4 and C5 when a door is opened the car bsi (cabin fusebox) starts up and things can be heard as the car is readying itself for starting. So it is possible your power supply is getting power from the bsi as you open the door - maybe put a meter on the cig lighter. If it does get power when the doors are opened but not the passenger door, then maybe there is a problem with the passenger door. The meter might also show if the power is being lost as you go over a bump or open the driver's door and instead of it being a problem with the radio may be a problem with the cig lighter supply. If it does end up being to do with the bsi starting up, on our C5 in the cabin fusebox some of the fuses take a supply direct from the battery via a maxi fuse and go to things like electric seats (if I had them). If your car is similar you could take a radio supply from one of these and it would have a permanent live that is not affected by the doors. You would need to make sure the radio is switched off when leaving the car so the battery does not go flat. I used one of these when wiring up the towbar by using a spade connector in the supply side of the fuse hole, connected it to a short length of wire with a scotchlock fuse holder and then to the towbar electrics.
  15. I could not find anything in our C5 handbook but usually on tailgate locks will be a small hole on the inside in which a screwdriver can be inserted to unlock the door from inside the boot.
  16. The standard 3 year new car warranty was nothing to do with the repair being free, it was done as a goodwill gesture by Citroen, effectively an acknowledgement they were fitting weak springs. You could try another dealer. I went to ours and spoke to the service people and they then contacted Citroen for authorisation. My local dealer though is good, we have bought 6 cars from them, had servicing done there and I buy spare parts from them, plus as a bonus is only a mile away.
  17. If it only happens some of the time you need to see if the bulbs are correctly located and fastened in the lights and if the lights are securely fastened. If you have a level adjusting switch on the dash, see if this is working properly and its connector and wiring are ok. If it only happens when the car is heavily loaded then the suspension may need checking for weak or broken springs (look to see if the wheel arch top is nearer the top of the tyre when loaded and check the springs for broken or missing coils).
  18. Just go to your local Citroen dealer, you have nothing to lose by asking. Our C3s had previous owners, whether 8 years is too old I do not know but I think our dealer said a mileage limit of possibly 80k miles but they contacted somebody in Citroen to get it authorised.
  19. Welcome to the forum. The original fit radios on Citroens are coded to the car and do not need a code entering if the battery has been disconnected. If it has an aftermarket radio then that could be different. If you bought the car from a dealer then maybe the plastic strip number is one they used to identify which set of keys went with which car. This is from the C4 Technical section Common Problems pinned topic: 11. Odd electrical problems caused by wrong battery disconnection procedure. If you need to disconnect the battery and not do a BSI reset procedure, I have found the following has not given me any problems on a 2004 and 2007 C5 and a 2003 C3: - remove the ignition key from the car - open the bonnet - wait a few minutes for the BSI to shut down - disconnect the battery negative terminal When reconnecting - ignition key out of the car - reconnect the battery - wait a few minutes - insert the key in the ignition and wait a minute - turn the key to the first position and wait a minute - turn the key so the dash lights come on and wait a minute - start the engine - take the windows down and up to reset the anti pinch - reset the clock (and radio on the C3). In the handbook for the 2015 C4 it says to wait at least 2 minutes after switching off the ignition before disconnecting the battery and when reconnecting, to wait at least a minute after switching on the ignition before starting the engine.
  20. Are you replacing the spring because it has broken ? If so I would check with your Citroen dealer service department since it may be replaced (as well as the other side) free of charge. We had a front one on a 2003 C3 break at about 5 years old and a rear one on a 2010 C3 break at about 5 years old and they were replaced by our dealer with Citroen paying. The colours on the new springs should be the same as on the old springs.
  21. Has the garage offered a repair on the rack ? On here a reconditioned one seems to be the lowest cost for a fix at around £300-400 including labour.
  22. If you use a Citroen dealer you can look on their website and under servicing is a list of fixed price repairs. If you choose a London dealer it may cost more than one elsewhere since the labour charge per hour may be more. If you live outside London you may get a home with a drive so you could do your own maintenance and then only need to pay for parts. To get an idea of the cost of a replacement car you could look at the Autotrader website and if you want a Citroen you could also look on the company website. Going by the cost you have given for brake discs/pads in Switzerland, you will find UK costs are a lot lower. Examples from our local Citroen dealer's website but others have the same prices http://www.bentleysmotorswarrington.citroen.co.uk/after-sales/servicing-and-repairs/service-and-Repair/ http://www.bentleysmotorswarrington.citroen.co.uk/offers/owners/all/fixed-price-repairs-from-27/?newsId=1155577 Suspension pumps do not fail much and probably most people would fit a used part and if you look on ebay you can get an idea of the cost of one.
  23. Welcome to the forum. I am not sure what you mean by logging them officially. If you mean like train spotting and recording the train details/number, then I would guess there is nothing to stop you apart from the thought it could be a waste of your valuable time. However, if you then intend to use the data to clone the cars then that is a different matter.
  24. The additive low level message is based on the number of fuel tank fills and not the actual level. When the eolys fluid additive is topped up a diagnostic using the Citroen Lexia is needed to tell the car it has been topped up, otherwise the low level message will continue. Despite the message, on here it has been reported the additive will still be dosed if the tank has some in. You can check if the additive is still being dosed by looking inside the exhaust tail pipe, it should be clean metal if the dpf system is working, at least on our cars it is. The additive pump is on the side of the additive tank and should have a pipe coming from it to the fuel tank level gauge.
  25. It looks as if all the hinges need adjusting - the ones with a large nut on possibly an allen screw need the nut/screw adjusting and ones without need the fastening bolts on the body and door adjusting. The locating pegs on the door may also need adjusting.
