  1. Welcome to the forum. In the handbook for our 2007 C5, - the interior volumetric protection can be disarmed by pressing the alarm off button on the dash for 1 second just after switching off the ignition - the diode on the switch will then be permanently on until the doors are locked with the remote and will then flash. This way the alarm on the doors is working. This button has OFF on it and a symbol a bit like a loud hailer. - the alarm can be fully disarmed if the doors are locked using the key in the door instead of the remote.
  2. On further checking it looks as if the new EAT6 gearbox is a full auto with a torque converter, the following is in this linked review https://www.first4auto.com/ds-3-boosts-efficiency-with-new-eat6-auto-box/ : The improvements in fuel consumption have been achieved by reducing internal frictions after optimising the clutch discs and adjusting the oil pump flow based on the engine load. The company’s engineers have also taken the opportunity to redesign the hydraulic distributor to make it possible to use a smaller oil pump. DS also point out that drivers of the new model will notice the enhanced driveability. This has been possible because of a new compact torque converter, efficient operation at lower engine speeds and a wider gear-ratio for improved pick-up, plus lower revs at higher vehicle speeds. The EAT6 gearbox was available early this year so it is possible your car was one of the last with the ETG6 gearbox and that if you had ordered a full auto you should have got the EAT6 one. Other reviews indicate the gearchange on the EAT6 is 40% quicker and therefore smoother than the previous ones. So maybe you do have something to question your dealer about and a look at any paperwork when the car was ordered might help.
  3. Citroens usually have a set of maxi fuses hidden under the top layer of normal fuses in the engine fuse box. These are not listed in the handbooks but are often noted in manuals. As an example, in the C5 Haynes manual wiring diagrams for the fans it shows maxi fuse MF1 with a direct feed from the battery to the fan relays. It does not give the fuse rating though. To find them you may need to undo a nut or clip so the top fuse layer can be lifted or maybe there is a separate small fuse box - on the latest C5 there is a hidden one at the side of a front wing. It would make sense if a maxi fuse has failed since the fans work with your temporary supply from the battery. Maxi fuses do not normally fail but we had one go for no apparent reason on a Picasso so it could have been a weak fuse.
  4. We need coastline taxis to help on this since I have no more information that can help. Likely he will have worked on this before.
  5. Have you looked in the handbook for a fuse list ? If you do not have a handbook these can be read/printed/saved in sections from http://service.citroen.com/ddb/ and you will need to select your language. A quick look in one suggests the engine fuse box, fuse 1, 20amp is for the fan assembly but also the ecu, fuel and air systems so if the fuse has failed these would also be affected. Maybe you could follow the wiring back from the fans to the fuse box and check for any damage.
  6. Welcome to the forum.
  7. Welcome to the forum. There could be a lot of things that put the engine management light on and then limp mode but it will be something that can affect the exhaust emissions. You could try replacing lots of sensors without finding the faulty one before wasting a lot of money. The best thing to do is use a code reader to find the fault code which will indicate what is wrong. These cost less than paying for a diagnostic check and ones with some live data are more useful such as this one for £39 from Gendan https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_FXNT200.html Possibilities can include wiring/connector faults, the MAP sensor, the exhaust inlet lambda sensor, the spark plugs, the ignition coil, a camshaft sensor, the crankshaft sensor but these tend to stop the engine and may not give a fault code, blocked fuel filter, blocked air filter, faulty fuel injector, a problem with the throttle body.
  8. Have a look here http://www.berlingoforum.co.uk/thread-1202.html
  9. Welcome to the forum.
  10. Thanks for getting back to us. Was the engine management light on or has the bulb in it failed - it should be lit when first switching on the ignition and then go out a few seconds after starting the engine unless there is a fault when it will stay on.
  11. I am pleased it is now fixed. Just shows how useful the internet can be to help interpret fault codes since it showed the hpi codes are not standard definitions. When a fault code comes up the first thing I do is search on it. If you have time later you may want to see what fuel pressures you are now getting.
  12. Welcome to the forum. The standard Citroen aerials just unscrew from the larger base on the roof. If it is a bit tight you can use something to grip it like mole grips and maybe something like wd40 sprayed at the join may help to release it. New aerials from Citroen do not cost much and work better than aftermarket ones.
  13. You can download a C4 sales brochure here and see the options for gear boxes http://info.citroen.co.uk/contact-us/request-a-brochure/ The latest brochure is dated September 2015 and only lists an EAT6 auto gearbox which is probably the latest name for your ETG6 one. A full auto is not listed. In a 12/2013 C4 brochure they had an EGS 6 speed semi auto box but also a 4 speed full auto but only on a petrol car. So it looks as if full auto gearboxes are no longer available, probably since they use more fuel than the semi auto ones. In the new brochure it has changed a bit from previous ones with a lot of extra pages of not much, but it took a long time to download. The available colours are not that exciting - 2 whites, 3 greys, black, blue and red - silver is not there any more so maybe the days of many cars on the road being silver will end soon.
  14. There is a picture of it in the Haynes manual, page 3.10, picture 10.36. If you still have not yet got a copy and not looked at the copy of it in the above link, then it appears as photo 172 in the link https://picasaweb.google.com/117321021404803473044/HaynesCitroenC5OnlineCarWorkShopManual?feat=flashalbum#5577453713766749762
  15. Welcome to the forum. What year is the car ? I have not driven an ETG gearbox car but a quick search on reviews suggests the gear change may not be smooth such as this one http://www.whatcar.com/car-reviews/citroen/c4-picasso-mpv/1-6-e-hdi-90-vtr-etg6-5dr/summary/67257 with the following comment: We’d stick with the manual gearbox, even though it hasn’t got a very nice gearshift. The ETG6 semi-automatic ’box is more efficient in terms of emissions and economy, but it’s slow and jerky, so best avoided unless you must have a two-pedal car. You could ask the dealer for a test drive in another car to see if that one is also jerky and also if there have been any software updates which may help.
  16. Welcome to the forum. On the C5 Technical section there is a pinned topic of Common Problems to have a look at, but if you work on cars you may already know these or can add some more. The 2008 on C5 is prone to steering rack fluid leaks, possibly due to rust on the column input shaft and needs a replacement rack to fix, another is failure of the front wiper motors due to rain getting in. There are other problems but these are not as expensive to fix.
  17. Only car I've had that warned the battery was low was a 2003 C3 which beeped on starting but this was not specific to the battery and could be other things. The fact a car turns slowly on the starter is surely an adequate warning for most people. On a C5 2001 to 2008 model there is a voltage gauge which shows if the voltage is down but if the battery is too low to start the car, as well as turn over very slowly on the starter, the headlights may flash and the front wipers move and the Service light may come on. Others have also reported an electric power steering pump not working and lots of other odd things, so if anything odd happens the first thing to do is check the battery and its connections.
  18. Welcome to the forum. The following is from Citroen's procedures for replacing the ecu Bosch ME 7.4.5 3. Safety recommendationsN.B. : The configuration operation is a delicate operation which has direct consequences for the operation of the vehicle.Incorrect configuration can have adverse effects on :Safety (Deactivation of the vehicle’s protection systems)The overall operation of the vehicle (Down-grading or complete loss of the vehicle’s functions)Vehicle diagnostics (Recording of fault codes that can cause the diagnostic tool’s diagnostic methods to fail, leading to unjustified replacements of parts)Before any attempt to start the engine :Check that the parking brake is activatedIf an automatic gearbox, check that the gear lever is in position "P" (Park)If a manual gearbox, check that the gear lever is in neutral4. Preliminary operationsBefore any operations :Establish communication with the ECU ; Using the diagnostic toolPrint out all the diagnostic tool screens that indicate the configuration parameter values, or note down these values by hand5. ConfigurationIf configuring the ECU :Establish communication with the ECUPerform the configuration by internetCheck the downloadIf replacing an ECU :Fit the new ECUEstablish communication with the ECUPerform the configuration by internetCheck the downloadPerform the programming operations (If necessary)6. Configuration tablesN.B. : The parameters of the "customer options" menu are also present on the configuration menu, so it is not necessary to configure these if the parameters of the "configuration" menu have already been, or are going to be, configured. For software evolution indices lower than 11.00 (see identification menus), apply the schedule of configuration table n°1.For software evolution indices higher than or equal to 11.00 (see id So it looks as if you may need to visit a Citroen dealer to have the ecu programmed to your car. You may also need the remote keys and radio from the other car so they are recognised by the replacement ecu.
  19. I was not thinking of the fuses but the fuse box in case it has had water in and gained bad connections or maybe a hairline crack in a conducting part.
  20. When the car is started the diaphragm rod should move so something to check before replacing it. The following is from Citroen's procedure for checking the turbo pressure including fitting a pressure gauge to check the pressure sensor value so you could see what pressures you are getting against expected: Start the engine.Engage the 1st gear ratio, and start the vehicle.Engage the gears up to 3rd gear.Decelerate to an engine speed of 1500 rpm.Gradually accelerate , The pressure should be the following :1,1 ± 0,05 bars at 2000 rpm1,2 ± 0,05 bars at 3000 rpm
  21. Hopefully it will not happen again but if it does you could check the engine fuse box. At least you know the ecu is ok. Also note if it is raining when it happens.
  22. Welcome to the forum. Is your car the 2003 to 2009 model or the 2009 on model ? It sounds as if you need a diagnostic session on a Lexia. Chinese copies can be bought for under £100 to put on a lap top. On the C5 section there is a pinned topic of members who are able to help with diagnostics so you could have a look to see if you are not too far from somebody. I have also seen similar topics on other forums if nobody is close enough. You could also try just disconnecting and reconnecting the battery but do not do it too quickly since the bsi/ecu need time to shut down. The following is from the C3 Common Problems pinned topic: 20. Odd electrical problems caused by wrong battery disconnection procedure. If you need to disconnect the battery and not do a BSI reset procedure, I have found the following has not given me any problems on a 2004 and 2007 C5 and a 2003 C3: - remove the ignition key from the car - open the bonnet - wait a few minutes for the BSI to shut down - disconnect the battery negative terminal When reconnecting - ignition key out of the car - reconnect the battery - wait a few minutes - insert the key in the ignition and wait a minute - turn the key to the first position and wait a minute - turn the key so the dash lights come on and wait a minute - start the engine - take the windows down and up to reset the anti pinch - reset the clock (and radio on the C3).
  23. Thanks for getting back to us. Since you are doing your own work on your car it may pay you to get the Citroen service box manuals. These include the procedures and parts diagrams and wiring diagrams for all Citroens on 3 dvds to put on your pc and can be found on ebay.
  24. Maybe the mountings are a poor design or maybe the strut top gaiter is missing. They are about £26 each side if you do a search using part numbers, the left side is Citroen part no. 5038J7 and the right side 5038J8 but you should check this using your VIN. Replacement should not be too difficult but DIY could take some time. The book time to do both is under 3 hours so you should be able to get a lower quote at a different garage and it is not a specialised job that requires a Citroen dealer. The coil springs need to be compressed so you would need a pair of spring compressors but before doing this slacken the shock absorber top nut whilst it is still on the car. To get to the mounting top nuts the windscreen scuttle may need to be removed first.
  25. Is it a Citroen garage ?
