Welcome to the forum. Out of interest, what mileage was the last service ? I can not remember this problem before on here but if it is an odd electrical glitch a battery disconnection/reconnection could help. Do not do it too quickly though since you need to let the bsi shut down. You could also try a bsi reset. If you check the battery voltage it should be about 12.5 volts before the engine is started. This is from the C3 Common Problems pinned topic: 20. Odd electrical problems caused by wrong battery disconnection procedure. If you need to disconnect the battery and not do a BSI reset procedure, I have found the following has not given me any problems on a 2004 and 2007 C5 and a 2003 C3: - remove the ignition key from the car - open the bonnet - wait a few minutes for the BSI to shut down - disconnect the battery negative terminal When reconnecting - ignition key out of the car - reconnect the battery - wait a few minutes - insert the key in the ignition and wait a minute - turn the key to the first position and wait a minute - turn the key so the dash lights come on and wait a minute - start the engine - take the windows down and up to reset the anti pinch - reset the clock (and radio on the C3). It may have been better to let the garage source the clutch, since if there is a problem with it you will be responsible rather than the garage and they will not be able to give you a guarantee.

From your similar topic your car is a 1.6 hdi C3. Was one from eurocarparts no good ? Have you tried a Citroen dealer ? Have you tried cleaning your existing egr valve ?
-
Out of interest, what year is your car, is it a full manual gearbox, does the clutch pedal feel seem normal, does the clutch slip, how many miles has the car done, is the gear lever (if a full manual) not moving as normal, when you change gear are the gears grinding, when was the brake and clutch fluid last changed (should be every 2 years), have you done any checks on the car to find out what is wrong ?

Citroen C5 2010. Parking Sensors Not Working
paul.h replied to Alexwpoole's topic in Questions about the Citroen C5
Welcome to the forum. Not all C5s have parking sensors as standard, are you sure your car has them. If it does one of the sensors could be faulty or there may be a wiring fault. Sometimes you can hear the sensors buzzing if you are close to them. Check the wiring inside the boot area and at the back of the bumper to see if everything looks ok. If these checks do not help then to find the fault will need a diagnostic check using a dealer type Lexia. You could also try a new sensor testing it in all the 4 places and see if this gives a fix since it would be cheaper than a diagnostic check. -
Anti Pollution Fault, And Loss Of Power On Motorway
paul.h replied to vinny's topic in Technical Section - C8
It could well be the fuel filter needs replacing, frequencies vary but can be 2 to 4 years or up to 40k miles depending on the engine. When was it last done ? -
From one of your other topics, your car is a 2010 C3 and the 8HX is a DV4TD. From the Citroen service box procedures, to drain the coolant undo the radiator lower hose and an engine block drain plug at the back of the engine held in by a clip which needs removing (new O-ring and clip needed). The 2 bleed screws are shown on what appears to be a fitting on the bulkhead and on the thermostat housing (remove the air inlet hose to see it). Before putting in new coolant give the engine a good flush with clean water. The new coolant could be obtained from a Citroen dealer to make sure it is the correct type since colours of coolant do not mean it is correct. In the parts diagrams Citroen list Glysantin G33 (or Revkogel 2000) as long life - in 1 litre sizes part no. 9735.K1 which is ready mixed and 9735.K4 which is not. I have found this is blue coloured and not red or clear as the original coolant.

Anti Pollution Fault, And Loss Of Power On Motorway
paul.h replied to vinny's topic in Technical Section - C8
The engine management light and anti pollution message just means there is a fault detected that can affect the exhaust emissions. If you are lucky it could be a glitch and will not appear again and can be ignored. If not, it can be anything and as John says, you need to read the fault code stored on the car to see what the fault is, any other way is just a guess but you could look under the bonnet to see if something obvious has happened so as a hose come off or electrical connector come loose. Such faults put the car in limp mode which limits its performance but allow it to still be driven. If you do not have a fault code reader you can pay a garage (preferably a Citroen or Citroen specialist) to do a diagnostic check or for a lot less you can buy a code reader such as this from Gendan https://www.gendan.co.uk/product_FXNT200.html -
When the engine management light comes on a fault code and freeze frame data is stored. So if you have access to a fault code reader you can plug it in, read the code and data and see what the car thinks was wrong, otherwise it is just a guess and could be wrong. If it happens again do not start replacing any parts without reading the fault codes since you could spend a lot of money replacing parts until you find the faulty one.

The squealing noise will likely have been the clutch bearing or possibly where it contacts the clutch cover plate. If the clutch was slipping then the burning smell could be the clutch plate. If it is easy to do then a clutch fitting centre would not be too expensive, you could ring round for a few quotes. Rather than drop the gearbox a fitting centre may pull it back so they have a bit less work to do.

I got fed up of the rain collected on the hatch getting in the car when it was opened on our first C5 but if you change to an estate this problem goes. I tried using sealant at the bottom of the glass/trim and in the holes at the door edges of this plastic trim but these did not help.

Welcome to the forum. If I have this right, your engine is a 1.6 hdi 92 bhp, engine code 9HP so DV6DTED. If there is a hand priming pump (bulb) a bit like a small rugby ball, it will be somewhere near the fuel filter on a fuel line, however, Citroens procedures show on top of the fuel filter a button that is pushed to prime the filter. With the ball type it is repeatedly squeezed until it goes hard before starting the engine. Possibly the same is done with the button, pushing it repeatedly. I can not help with the fuel gauge but we had a 2003 C3 and now a 2010 C3 and these gauges have not given any problem.

Help! Intermittent Engine Fault That No-One Can Find!
paul.h replied to jadrake's topic in Technical Section - C8
Your car will have an exhaust dpf (diesel particulate filter) so it is possible regeneration of this could be happening. Replacement/cleaning of these is around 70k miles as well as topping up the eolys fluid. How many miles has the car done and do you know if the dpf has been replaced ? -
The 1.6 hdi is known for early turbo failure but it could have failed due to not having the correct oil or maybe the previous owner has abused it by not letting the engine warm up/oil circulate before revving the engine on starting and by not letting the engine idle for a while before switching the engine off so the turbo is still spinning but the oil supply is stopped as the engine stops.

Welcome to the forum. Your Citroen dealer will sell you the parts, they could be Citroen part number 1312F0 (replacement part number 1606636080) and 1312F2 - 2 of each are needed and they are called a radiator bracket. You should check this at the dealer using your VIN. If you search on these part numbers they appear to be about £3 each.

Help! Intermittent Engine Fault That No-One Can Find!
paul.h replied to jadrake's topic in Technical Section - C8
Welcome to the forum. Which engine does your car have, size, bhp ? It is possible the car is regenerating the exhaust dpf filter if it has one. A Citroen dealer or other with Lexia diagnostic equipment should be able to see when the dpf was last regenerated. -
Just Bought C5 And Have Hydraulic Fault Pls Help
paul.h replied to scooby2a's topic in C5 - Technical
Welcome to the forum. Which engine does it have (size and bhp) and what model is it, does it have a sport suspension button ? I am not sure what the problem is but a few things to do that will not cost anything. Pressure inside the lds tank is normal so nothing to worry about, just undo the cap slowly with a rag around the cap 1. Check the suspension pump electrical connector is on since these can come loose. 2. You have tried raising lowering but possibly the height sensors are a bit seized and spraying with wd40 might help. Do not go under the car though without supporting it on axle stands since if you catch a height sensor the suspension can drop to a very low level quicker than you can get out of the way. 3. Look for any leaking fluid. 4. Does the car drop much overnight since this could mean a strut internal seal leak. I had a rear one that dripped a bit of fluid from the gaiter but once the strut was replaced the car did not drop down as much overnight. 5. As already noted, the correct lds level is at the bottom of the tank filling strainer with the suspension in the low position and the engine off. Do not overfill the tank since it could then split. 6. I think there are anti sink valves but I do not know anything about them. I have moved the topic in to a sub forum since ones outside of one will not show after a few days. -
I just did a search on steering rack repairers which came up with that example, I have not used them so it is not a recommendation but is worth atry.
-
Have you tried to initialise the key fob as if the battery in it has been replaced ?
-
Thanks for the info. You could do this on a few Citroens now since they do not have a temperature gauge on the C3 or C4.
-
Welcome to the forum. If the battery light is coming on does this mean the battery is not charging (so an alternator, its wiring or its drive belt problem) ? Have you checked the battery voltage at over 2000rpm ?
-
Have you tried any companies that repair steering racks to see if they can provide the part, as an example http://www.power-steering.co.uk/ Have you checked the anti roll bar drop links for any play, I had to replace both on our 2003 C3 at about 30k miles due to wear and making knocking noises.

You can read/copy/print in sections the handbook from here, you may need to change the language first and then select your car http://service.citroen.com/ddb/ You could try a dealer but if it is not an original radio they may not be able to help. You could put a picture on here first of the clock and radio to see if anyone can help.
-
Welcome to the forum. It looks as if the original radio has been replaced with an aftermarket one. On many Citroens the date/time is set through the menu button on the radio and then personalisation and configuration but it appears your radio is different. If you look in the handbook under In Brief and then Multi function displays, the adjustments are covered there but only for the original radio but it also includes using the 3 buttons at the side of the display.

Welcome to the forum. A bit more info on your car is needed: - what year is it, which engine size, diesel or petrol. Did you check for a voltage at the fuel pump electrical connector ? Can you hear the pump run when you first put the key in the ignition ? On here the code gives: P0230 Fuel Pump Primary Circuit Malfunction so it may not be the pump itself at fault but the wiring or a connector or something else.
