  1. Hi hav sent you a pm. lexia will turn them of and with the price of lexia and pp right down in price at the minute itl work out easier and cheaper
  2. WOW thats a nasty price. we charge 20 for fitting and we can get starter fully reconed with 12 months waranty for 65 making a totol of £85
  3. sorry put that the wrong way round if it lights up whenever you turn the key then the fault is in your starter
  4. Get a test light and place it on the solenoid witre on the starter (8mm nut) and get some one to turn the key and see if it lights up in time with the key. If it does then your problem isnt the starter. then just go thru the other suggestions that paul has put on
  5. John the cables are fairly straight forward to do. We always recommend replacing both the inner and outer and also to replace both sides at the same time. I'm in Holland at the minute and not back till Sunday. will send you the correct way to set the handbrake up when i get back. only advice really is to just do one side at a time as the cables are sided
  6. And that my friend is exactly where your washer bottle lives
  7. check you sh1t tray espacialy where it meets the inner wing guard and the front bumper as both of the points come lose and rattle and bang
  8. Finding a rattle is a problem in itself. you can normally localise the area and just have a good look round. have you cecked the heat shield on the steering rack also any bolts with washers that are loose will cause a rattle both of these rattles took us over a full day to find. youd probaly be better of taking it to a garage were they can get the car up in the air the bring the noise on and locate it
  9. Sound like a heat shields or exhaust bracket or something like that. Or it just could be the fact that theres not enough revs on . When you select drive or reverse if you watch the rev counter youll see that the revs go under the recomended 700rpm untill you acelerate. When in n or p the engine and box are idling at the correct rpm so no rattle
  10. Weve had a few o rings fail on steering racks. Go on ebay and you can get a box of 300 o rings of all different sizes for a fiver. easy enough to replace and fairly easy to get at from the underneath the car.
  11. diagnostic port is in the glovebox. juast to the left as you open it youl see a little panel with a shelf like thing on it. Pull this away and the port is behind it. does your management light come on when you put the ignition on and then go out. it sounds like your in limp mode. Does it need a service
  12. ok then try checkinhg the following tyre pressure rear arm bearing dont just look for play on the bearing check that it hasnt been bent due to kerbing etc etc has the car been used with the ride hieght on full. And its quiete on hear because people cant afford the fuel to drive so the cars arnt getting faults. And now ive started me rant i need to say what a shower of sh1t this government really is. There putting people out of work through there greed at the pumps. We are getting hammered with the price of diesel bstard david cameron sh1thouse may you catch a long dose of thrush. right thats that over
  13. Oh joy a new posting. rear bearing are ok and your sure about it and both rear wheels are sitting straight. The tyre that has scrubbed off was it part worn or swapped from a front wheel
  14. C5 waned. mechanical condition not important at all must have decent bodywork pm with details olease
  15. the cog on most starters dont fully engage onto the ringear. youl always have a dull bit on the bottom. sounds more and moer like its the ring gear at fault
  16. no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no no and no. Ive yet to see a 1.6 with more than 100k on the clock with the original turbo. We done work on a pug 407 last year for a local taxi driver and that had3 turbos in 6 months and we followed the recomendations ie new oil pump and vacum pump and all oil pipes also all the air pipes and everything replaced sump off and rocker box off and engine cleaned out. it nearly bankrupt the owner. there just totol shite. Dave your normally quite level headed and give good input on the forum. i think it best if myself and other members put your last posting down to a moment of sheer madness or some kind of mental ilness. get well soon my friend
  17. Im confused a bit help me out here. does your starter work or does it need reconing and what makes you think you have the wrong starter. what are the symptoms
  18. any motor parts suplier/discount store or europarts should be able to get you one. or just get yours reconed again. if your near the north east we can give you the number of a fella we use
  19. possible wheel bearings or the diff whining jack each wheel up one at a time and spin it as fast as you can you should be able to hear the rumbling for the diff its best to just drain all the oil out and replace with the right amount of new oil. 1.9 litres drain plug on bottom of gearbox and remove reverse light switch on top of box to fill it
  20. INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES aslong as there the same side the rear handle will fit the front all you have to do is turn handle over and youl see two lugs that hold the handle to the door shave quarter of a inch of the rear lug and itl fit. The front handle will fit the rear without any adaptation
  21. there great cars man. we got one rented out and its got 320k and it runs perfect
  22. Well its very quiet on here at present. so why not post all your hints and tips as no one is ever to old to learn so here goes. front Droplinks. always have the suspension set to high then put a crowbar on the anti roll bar where it meets the droplinks and push down. if theres movement then the droplinks need replacing
  23. try switching the af (auto find) off as this will automaticly keep tuning in the stations with the strongest signals wich are mostly stations with rds
  24. you know when you get one of them days when you say to yourself ^why didnt i think of that^ well youve just done it to me ha ha. never ever thought of doing that but will do from now on cheers
  25. new rules from the 1st jan 2012. if you car was made with a cat as standard then it has to have a cat fitted regardless of what the emissions say. In the past weve removed them and welded pipe in but that practice would now fail the mot. the answer is you now cut a square (or circle)out of the cat then remove all the guts out of it then weld back up and that will pass as weve just found out. Also changed are the following steering lock must work withkey out warning lights must go out with engine running tow bar sockets tow board conected and all lights must work inner cv boots no leaks or insecure ball joint/track rods rubber cover must be intact theres a few more but these are sort of the main ones have fun gentlemen
